WHats the best device to get rid of hard skin on feet?

I used to use a ped egg and loved it but I'm not sure you can still get it. Iv seen a few diff electric type foot file devices.... can anyone tell me which are worth a go? My feet aren't terrible, I use scholl cream on them but want to do them properly before holiday.

I use a scalpel type thing you get from Boots and spare blades, followed by a foil file and lots of moisturiser. The scalpel is quite drastic but I'm lazy about filing more frequently.

Normally I'm good at keeping on top of it but for some reason I haven't. I think it's because normally I put thick cream on then socks after shower and all this week been too hot for socks so have forgotten my feet\

I'm a little clumsy so the thought of any knifes, blades etc may not be a good idea

I have got one of those Scholl velvet diamond pedi things-they are very good. I use Flexitol regularly throughout the summer as well. My feet are actually now in pretty good shape!

My epilator has an attachment for filing off hard skin. It turns my hooves into silky soft baby feet. Oh, and it doesn't hurt at all.

This really is the best thing ever. I have the worst feet, especially backs of my heels and balls of feet. I'm bare foot as much as possible and they wear very badly.

I've spent fortunes on electronic devices in the past and I'm chucking them all in the bin.

Quick soak of the feet in bath or while you shower, then good scrub then moisturise.

It's a fricking miracle.

Footner will NOT get rid of thick, hard skin on the feet. I use it. It'll get rid of a couple of superficial layers but not the hard dead layers underneath, the layers so thick they can split and crack. For that it's manual removal. I use a scholl rotary battery thingy and a soap and glory footfile, plus loads of that foot cream with a high urea content (flexitol). Footner just won't cut the serous stuff.

It's only the only thing that really really works Purple afterwards you can use scrubby tools etc but to get feet perfect footner is where it's at. It's not as disgusting as some people make out, I swear they save the peeling bits just for the photos.

I have a ped egg. I only use the sandpaper side though when my feet are still damp from the shower. Works great.

I had an electric one it was shit and expensive to keep buying new heads.

Most callous creams have about 20% urea. This bad boy has 40% and salicylic acid. About a 8 days ago my 3 year old cried and refused to sit next to my feet on the sofa. Tonight they look pretty damn good. All the flaky dry skin is gone. Where my thickest callouses are I can still feel thicker skin but it is thin and softer, I am actually at the stage where a soak and a pumice stone might sort me. I think another week and it will all be gone.

One down side is I have been going socklessvin the heat and the insides of my shoes look dirty, it's all the dead skin. Unlike footbed it melts away rather than peels.

I agree Enid. Footner is great. Disagree with the poster who said it didnt work. It always has got rid of more than superficial skin for me. Ive used baby foot too.

Lucked. That cream sounds good and more economical perhaps than footner. So how do you apply it. Do you know if yoy can use it while breastfeeding?

I havent done a babyfoot or a footner because it isnt recommended whilst bf.

I don't like the idea of waiting for skin to peel off hence why I currently use ped egg as the skin is off instantly

The amount mine takes off is embarrassing. She sweeps the floor to get it all up.

If you have abnormal amounts of hard skin i.e. callouses and the like, it might be an idea to find out the reason.

Again, a one off trip to the chiropodist would be in order.

Ped eggs donr work for me. Also has the scholl revolving thing. My feet need attention.

Think the ideal routine would be footner then regular maintenence with ped egg/scholl thing and moisturiser

I don't have any bunions or anything and my feet aren't cracked and horrible really, just want to get on top of them again.

Listen to alabaster! I used footner twice, soaked them, left the socks on extra long etc; my were peely as anything and I had high hopes. Sadly it did nothing for the bad parts of my hooves. They were just as hard as when I started - all that peeling for nothing! Also it's too tempting to peel too much just to get rid of the skin. I've heard of people digging into their skin and making a big dent (bleurgh).

The best thing for me is the express pedi battery powered sanding thingy. I have the pink one, which is meant to be better for tough skin.

I can confirm the newtons stone is awesome. It can sort out thick cracked heels and balls of foot.

Soak feet, wet stone, apply soap to stone (important), scrub. The stone wears away but you can fish the bits out the water and still use them. Then let the stone dry out and u can reuse. Doesn't hurt either it's actually quite gentle. A bit like charcoal.
