I used to use a ped egg and loved it but I'm not sure you can still get it. Iv seen a few diff electric type foot file devices.... can anyone tell me which are worth a go? My feet aren't terrible, I use scholl cream on them but want to do them properly before holiday.

I second the newtons chiropody sponge. Saw it recommended on MN and i haven't looked back. I'd tried all sorts of manual and battery operated foot files and none keep my feet soft and crack free like this (cheap) 'sponge', although it's a block, rather than a sponge.

Cahu58 · 27/05/2017 21:14

The sponge is good but for ease of use the foot file is quicker and more efficient. Has to be followed by flexitol though as it's quite brutal.

firsttimemum15 · 27/05/2017 21:21

Id love a medicinal pedi but they dont exist. Ive had a pedi in a salon before and she used a scalpal

What is flexitol

I did find babyfoot better than footner

Oil. Facial or body oil - or even olive oil. Rub into clean dry feet after a shower and put socks on straight away.

Lucked · 27/05/2017 21:25

firsttime I just rub in twice a day. It says to do so whilst damp but at night my feet are dry. Instructions only say not for under twos but you should probably run it past your midwife.

StealthPolarBear · 27/05/2017 21:28

Another vote for Newton chiropody sponge. Cheap and effective. Also work on bubbly upper arms, no blood, no pain.

firsttimemum15 · 27/05/2017 21:28

Thanks Lucked i dont have a midwife but think its maybe the acid that makes it unsuitable. Would like to try though

Ineedagoodusername · 27/05/2017 21:29

I've got a ped egg but it doesn't work or is that cos my feet are so bad I just need to try a bit harder?

Lucked · 27/05/2017 21:46

They do one without acid on amazon

firsttimemum15 · 27/05/2017 22:22

Hsve you tried it do u have the link. Id have thought that ingredient is key

silkpyjamasallday · 27/05/2017 22:45

I've found bathing with a natural oils based bath oil has made the most difference used in conjunction with a pumice stone. Softens it up so much, and mine was previously quite severe from years of walking around barefoot at every opportunity, which I still do but it isn't coming back. Downside is now my feet are more sensitive which probably isn't good when DD starts leaving lego bricks all over the place Grin

Those weird cheese graters for your feet make me feel sick, I don't know how anyone can use them. It's made me scrunch my feet up just thinking about it.

Fozzleyplum · 27/05/2017 22:49

I use Footner when I can be bothered. By far the best day to day foot file that I have tried is the Diamencel no 11. It's expensive, but it has a lifetime guarantee. The dead skin falls off in a steady stream of skin dust. It's very satisfying.

olderthanyouthink · 27/05/2017 22:56

firsttimemum15 medi pedis are totally an (expensive) thing e.g. http://www.margaretdabbs.co.uk/medicalpedicure/

enid is it really gross when shedding? I'm giving over buy that kind of thing for my dads feet. I've stabbed the bottom of his foot with a needle before without him feeling it Grin he's got elephant feet.

Lucked · 27/05/2017 23:26

urea 40 I haven't tried this one but it is the same make and the reviews are good.

Wallywobbles · 28/05/2017 03:21

Bliss do/did a foot file thing. I have a no 20. Had it about 10 years. Better than you egg whatsit by miles.

sowhatusernameisnttaken · 28/05/2017 07:39

I've just bought a newtons sponge- I'll report back, I have THE worst hard skin on my feet, cracks and all ;-(

firsttimemum15 · 28/05/2017 08:39

Thanks Otherthanyouthink i knee you could get them but not in many places the one i found is cheaper but still nor nr me but not london thats so expensive

firsttimemum15 · 01/06/2017 21:23

Lucked does the cream cause peeling or does it just get rid of hard skin through moisturisation

ChrissyHynde · 01/06/2017 21:37

Soak your feet and then use a bog standard bic razor. Soft skin comes away really easily .... works for me

Onynx · 02/06/2017 09:30

OPI footfile. It's far easier to manage than the Newtons sponge and the file slots into a handle so you don't destroy your hands in the process. Two sides - one is rough & the other more fine. Then cover your feet in Flexitol & pop on socks for a while. Only thing that works for me😊

sweating · 02/06/2017 10:13

As others have said, footner is great if you like peeling the upper layer of skin off, but it will NOT address proper 'hard' skin.

I use a combo of Scholl electric pedi spinny thing and Flexitol balm. My feet are pretty immaculate, but it took me a while to get them to this state and it takes maintenance. Usually every three days or so.

I think the thing to remember is that nice summer feet are made in spring, and you will need to work at it. Regular upkeep is your friend.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 02/06/2017 10:26

I got a Soap and Glory foot file a few weeks ago and I love it. My heels are quite dry and crack easily, and I have a really rough bit on the ball of my foot. After filing I just put cream on and socks and by morning they were lovely and soft. It's a side effect of my chemo drugs so will keep coming back, but now I just file once or twice on the worst day(s) and it's sorted. I use Heel Genius cream as it's the best I've found so far :) I'm not allowed to use Footner now, but I have used it in the past and I don't think it's any more effective than filing and cream to be honest. I didn't like the Newton sponge as it leaves black crumbly bits in the shower.

This is the best thing I've ever tried! And I've tried a lot!

Cahu58 · 02/06/2017 15:33

The microplane from Amazon is the best, better than sponge, footner, EVERTHING! Always followed by Flexitol though, babysoft feet!!!!

FaginsRightHand · 02/06/2017 15:41

Newton sponge here.
After years of never getting the results I wanted, this works so well.
My heels were vastly improved from first use.
Can't recommend it highly enough.
