Calling all doublewear users!

I use doublewear and love it as it covers a multitude of sins and stays on all day. However I don't like wearing it on holiday as it's obviously quite heavy. Does anyone have any good holiday alternatives that still give good coverage? Is the lighter doublewear worth trying? Don't really want to fork out too much money. Or should I just mix what I have with a wee bit moisturiser?

DW light is a great product. Really last well.

I can tell because if I blob a bit on my hand during application and forget to clean it off, 10 minutes later it's dried in like a stain and won't budge!

Jemimapuddleduk · 04/05/2017 13:59

I use dw light or nude on holiday with the clarins factor 50 liquid under which acts as a really good, silky base.

Sciurus83 · 04/05/2017 15:29

Oh yes a second vote for the bourjois CC, it's very nice

Tinnie88 · 04/05/2017 15:39

I wear doublewear light on holiday it's fab. I use the powder over the top to set.

I'm happy to go makeup free in the day (on hols) but still use a bit of EL matt primer to even me out x

IDoNotHaveTheFoggiest · 04/05/2017 16:42

Dw Light
Lots of places now doing adjusters Body shop do one
But I 2nd NARS TM they do the original which I like and it has decent coverage more like a foundation or a new matte

WhooooAmI24601 · 04/05/2017 17:16

I mix my DW with Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow when we're away and in summer. Looks lovely and bright without being sparkly like one of those Cullen fellows.

McDougal · 04/05/2017 17:49

Glad I found this thread! Can anyone who has made the switch from DW to DW Light tell me if you needed to be colour matched? I'm desert beige 2N1 and google is telling me 2.0 in DWL. Does that sound about right?

WeeM · 04/05/2017 19:02

I think I'm gonna go and get a tester pot of dw light to try, maybe I'll be a convert too!

I got a tester of DW Light last week and really liked it, going to go at the weekend and buy a full size one. I've been using the Bare Minerals tinted gel cream mentioned above but although I like it when it goes on, it doesn't last well at all. I want something light but that actually sticks to my face and the DW light seemed to do the job.

Maudlinmaud · 04/05/2017 21:00

Hi Beast what shade are you? I have some dw that I barely used and will gladly send it to you if it suits.

LadyPenelopeCantDance · 04/05/2017 21:03

The EL counter will give you a tester to try before you buy.

I really like the BB cream too, gives a nice glow but not much coverage.

Doobigetta · 04/05/2017 21:04

I went from Pale Almond in DW, which was a touch too dark for me, to intensity 2.0 in DW Light, which I'm very happy with.

McDougal · 04/05/2017 21:07

I'm going to take the plunge and order while Look Fantastic have 15% off and a free gift. I haven't seen a bad review but just hope I make the right shade choice.

eyespydreams · 04/05/2017 21:36

The other option is to use a bb cream or nothing all over and just cover what you need to with either secret camouflage or Kevin aucoin 's super dense concealer (can also apparently mix latter with moisturiser for foundation). Tiny pot so handy for travel.

SimplyPut · 04/05/2017 21:43

I wear shell DW and wear DW light when abroad or having a home day. I am never with foundation Blush.

slyoldfox · 04/05/2017 21:52

Totally gegging in on this!

I am a DW fan too but getting older and noticing it's a bit much. I wear it everyday even if I'm staying in!

Very interesting suggestions to try out, thanks

WeeM · 04/05/2017 21:58

@simplyput that's great to know...I am Shell and also never without foundation hence my annual holiday make up stress which I have yet to find a good solution for!

Gillybobs · 04/05/2017 21:59

I use DW on my t zone and DW light on the rest of my face... stops any settling in lines around eyes and it's the t zone that needs the extra coverage.

BeastofCraggyIsland · 04/05/2017 22:41

Hi maudlinmaud that's really kind of you, the little sample bottle I've got has 'shade 1' written on it, there's no actual name. I've got pale Irish skin with freckles so it's probably 'death slightly warmed' or something Grin

Maudlinmaud · 04/05/2017 23:02

Aahh thats too bad, I just checked the shade and it's tawny 3w1 or something and it's dw not the light version. I'm freckly too but I have yellow undertones.

StarHeartDiamond · 04/05/2017 23:06

Clarins everlasting is good, it's similar coverage but feels light on the skin.

Ohyesiam · 05/05/2017 09:29

I thought I needed full coverage for sun damage, thread veins, etc, , and used Liquid Veil. Then discovered lancome teint idol, which Just makes your skin look lovely, much lighter coverage, but really works. They do testers that last a week, and they'll give you 2 or 3 shades.

BeastofCraggyIsland · 05/05/2017 16:44

No worries Maudlinmaud thanks for the kind offer anyway!

MixedUpConfusion · 05/05/2017 19:22

Looks lovely and bright without being sparkly like one of those Cullen fellows

I've been googling to see what this actually means! Still none the wiser...

I was DW matched with 2W2 Rattan but I asked for the shade lighter (2W1 Dawn) and the woman got a bit huffy and said if I want to go lighter than Dawn it won't be the right colour and no point being colour matched... so what shade should I get the DW Light in? I'm quite yellowy/olive toned...warm was the word consultant used

justanotheryoungmother · 05/05/2017 20:01
