It looks like a cross between an 80s bed valance and a sack of potatoes. Or am I missing something?

I thought I'd do a quick search and come up with a few dresses whcih ARE nice/ smart/ flattering and I'm struggling to find any. Many shirt dresses but with their tie belt you risk looking a bit sack tied in the middle and a few bodycon black dresses but to be honest it's not easy to find things.

Good god, what is that? I was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt..... until I clicked on it Grin

Yet Cos clothes look like shapeless sacks and folk rave about Cos on here.

(Pulls on skinnies and Muse t-shirt while muttering loudly that I don't fucking get fashion)

CaoNiMartacus · 30/04/2017 08:07

I've got fitted bedsheets I'd sooner wear.

ZaZathecat · 30/04/2017 10:42

That brown dress just needs a bit of ruching and it could double up as an austrian blind.

Oldraver · 30/04/2017 10:56

It could possibly pass if it was in a summery very lightweight cotton print.

But the colour.......

user1489179512 · 30/04/2017 12:15

I think it looks quite nice. The model's hair and the flat sandals are good with the look.

BUT it would look ridiculous on a real person!!

The above is a big M&S success. Sold out in all sizes and way better than the versions produced for Topshop et al.

The Sack O' Poo dress

Brilliant.
A perfect description.

BestIsWest · 30/04/2017 14:50

I adored Margot Leadbeater. Completely stylish.

Nettletheelf · 30/04/2017 16:10

The first dress looks like a prison uniform for convicts disembarking from the first fleet to Botany Bay.

ActuallyThatsSUPREMECommander · 30/04/2017 16:24

I like the pink Leadbetter Special. Not for everyone but fun and successful in what it's trying to achieve.

The brown abomination otoh is just unforgivable. Somebody looked at it and thought "oh yes, shit brown is the colour to make that in, to ram home the sack of potatoes chic look." Literally any other colour in the Pantone catalogue would have been an improvement.

HappyAxolotl · 30/04/2017 16:48

I was going to say that if the pink dress didn't have the bell sleeves it could be quite a good look.

Then I clicked on the pics of it being worn by the model and, as a pp said, if it doesn't flatter a model there is no hope for the rest of us.

Dresses really do need waists in them!

BakedBeeeen · 30/04/2017 20:19

Euphemia i can't belive how vile those shoes are! Confused
