Recommend me some funky but comfy trainers to replace my killer converse!

I have worn converse for years but the last pair I bought really hurt my feet! I've tried to get used to them but they are just so uncomfortable I can't wear them anymore.

I've looked online at Schuh and Office but there are hundreds of trainers! I'm not after high fashion but don't want to look frumpy so any recommendations please? Comfy, sturdy (have a form of arthritis) but still a bit cool (if I can be a bit cool at 42!)

Any suggestions please?

Oh I love my Toms Enid, my feet have always been fine in them, what happened to yours?
So comfy and light, like walking in slippers.

New Balance and Adidas Superstars (?) here. Lovely colours and so comfortable.

Katietwinmum · 28/04/2017 19:52

Cath Kidston x Gola trainers -nice designs and so comfy I love em!

I have wide feet after 2 pregnancies and I get my shoes stretched at the cobbler's. It really helps!

I had the navy leather ones in the 90s too Headin. Grin

I find my rocket dog trainers much more comfortable than converse

Skechers. 100%

Wrong thread, entirely. My brain is clearly not as sharp as I thought.

Adidas Stan Smiths for me too. Pinched my little toes to begin with but the leather moulds to your feet and they're super comfy now. Cool too, I have ones with furry trim.

HollyJollyDillydolly · 28/04/2017 20:41

Converse hate my feet. I've had a pair for over a year now and they still give me blisters when I wear them. I've just bought a pair of skechers trainers. They have memory foam insoles and they are so light. They've been comfy since the first time I wore them, which is highly unusual for my dodgy feet!

Irregular choice have a few styles of trainers if you want funky! 😉

pizzagal · 28/04/2017 20:43

Love Converse!

New Balance are gorgeous. And Adidas Gazelles. My friend has a lovely pair of Nike lifestyle shoes.

Ohsofat · 28/04/2017 20:47

I love my Adidas Nizza

Honey1975 · 28/04/2017 22:24

Wow loads of suggestions, thanks! I'm going to have a look at them all online. Office have a sale on with loads of trainers half price!

Superga are annoyingly sized. One is way too small and the size up way too big!

Cherry321 · 28/04/2017 22:49

I have stan smiths in black, white, red and silver. Love them. Plus easily accommodate an insole if you have plantar fascitis - like me. Grin

My 18yo DD is a brand refusenik, she used to have some nice Lee Cooper high tops but now lives in dunlops (all from sports direct) - first pair was from the women's section but there was more colour choice in the boy's (size 4) inc burgundy and all black.

bingohandjob · 28/04/2017 23:20

Superga are more comfortable than Converse, I think. I love Geox Nebula as sleek design (in right colourway, some can look a bit....strange) and extremely comfortable and cool (literally, they help keep your feet cool) to wear.

PickAChew · 28/04/2017 23:23

Nike - Free are really cute if you don't mind draughty, though Darts are more supportive.

Skechers may be comfy, but they are not "funky". The OP specified "a bit cool" Smile

PickAChew · 28/04/2017 23:33

Dunno - the pair of Skechers that DH has been wearing for gardening is well funky :o

Outdoorsy5644 · 28/04/2017 23:41

I love love love my Onitsuka Tiger trainers. So comfortable and yet funky.
