Is there a non transfering sort of instant fake tan?

I'm after something I can put all over to make my legs and arms look nice bare but no fake tan works on Me, they all streak etc and Iv tried loads. So I'm wondering if there is something that can be washed off but won't come off into clothes or when you sweat or get caught out in the rain??

None of the gradual tanners work on me though, they either don't work or they genuinely all leave brown marks despite exfoliating and moisturising! dud what was it like in the morning? How long did it last? I would do it at night too as I hate the smell of them!!

If I put body lotion in with gradual tanner would it still work or be pointless?

I get KP hence reluctance of any kind of self tanner that isn't wash off...

What about the Clarins drops that you mix with your normal body lotion? I haven't tried them myself, however...

EssentialHummus · 29/04/2017 08:33

The Dove Summer Revived one is great and genuinely idiot-proof.

Purplerainbow · 29/04/2017 10:28

clarins = £££ but would have a go if someone thought they were worth it.

Iv tried dove before but not this 'revived' one. What is the difference ?

The best self tan I've used is clarins gelee. It's very light, can put it on your face too without going umpa lumpaesque.
Instant tan wise, either Sally Hanson or Nars body oil. That Nars stuff smells sooo good too. Don't know the price point but last year they reduced the size and kept the price cheeky sods but I managed to get hold of the original 100ml bottle.

VivienneWestwoodsKnickers · 29/04/2017 13:28

Came in to recommend the same Clarins one as Wicks. Awesome. Will be wearing it with my wedding dress - it's that reliable!

And I'm a slightly blue-tinged Scot, and it does not turn me orange, just mildly tanned.

Purplerainbow · 29/04/2017 15:23

The nars one sounds good for my holiday, what is the colour like and does it get rubbed off?

Yes Purple, the spray Sally Hansen. I tried the cream but didn't like it. The only other thing that works on my blue blotchy legs was L'Oréal sublime bronze. I have 1 1/2 tubes leftover from last summer but they've now changed the packaging so not sure what to buy Confused

cannaethink · 29/04/2017 17:32

I agree with trying the spray sally Hansen. I went swimming in the sea and it still looked perfect!
I don't use a mitt, just spray on my hands then rub in.

Purplerainbow · 29/04/2017 20:32

Wow in the sea and it stayed on! I haven the used it for years as it used to look like granny tights on me but I will give it another go.

Does anyone know if I could get a sample of the nars?

Is there any way of getting a cheaper nars? £44!!

The St Tropez oil isn't sun oil it's just oil consistency so goes on sheer which is why it's good over existing colour. Honestly try the st moritz mouse in light - it's dirt cheap so if you don't get on with it there's not much lost. Use a mitt though!

Purplerainbow · 04/05/2017 13:15

I went to look at the nars today and yes smells lovely and looked lovely but it didn't last at all! The woman said it wouldn't transfer but I put it on my arm few hours ago and there's barely a hint of glitter left?

I really like James Read instant tan. Stats put until you wash off with soap and water, and a good natural colour. My legs are the colour of skimmed milk, and it takes the edge of nicely. The best bit is if it looks a bit streaky you can just scrub with a baby wipe and go again. I can't be bothered with gradual tanner's any more for the same reasons as you.

WellTidy · 04/05/2017 13:49

Have you tried the st tropez one that you use in the shower? I am pale too, and fake tan always streaks on me. This in shower one is good. I don't follow the instructions though as I didn't find that I got much colour, if any. I use it every day until I see any colour, and then every 2-3 days.

Pinklady1981 · 04/05/2017 13:55

Hi i really like st tropez in shower one but the down side is you freeze your arse off for 3 mins then wash off. So i tend to do my legs one day then upper body the following. I have also been using Avon gradual tan which is good. I prefer gradual tanners, just make sure you rub in well so you dont get streaks. Palmers naturals is good too!

JaneJeffer · 04/05/2017 14:09

They were talking about this one on TV last week. It's clear so doesn't mark anything. Apparently it's selling like hot cakes. Can't vouch for it personally but it's on €5 in Penneys so I presume Primark would have it if you're in the UK. May be worth a try.

Purplerainbow · 04/05/2017 14:13

I haven't tried the st tropez shower one... Iv read mixed reviews of it, people saying it made no difference or it was streaky. Not heard of the James read one, where can you get that from?

Another vote for Sally Hansen. I have used both the spray and cream and found them equally good, although the cream is less messy to apply. It covers spider veins quite well, too.

I have heard good things about Mac body foundation but I have never tried it myself.

Firstaidnovice · 04/05/2017 17:09

James Read - I think I got mine in M&S, but you can get it on Amazon. £12 for a tube that lasts for ages.

Unicorn81 · 04/05/2017 20:17

Im really pale and fake tan looks orange on me. I do like decleor fradual glow nd lancaster though, both smell ok and no transfer on bedding etc. I use lancaster when in the sun too and its brilliant

barfotoliv · 04/05/2017 21:18

The Sanctuary Wonder Body from Boots might be what you're after. It's not a fake tan, more like a tinted moisturiser for the body. Supposed to hydrate illuminate perfect etc etc. It's about £9

hollyisalovelyname · 04/05/2017 21:40

Tan Organic Oil tanner is great. It's a clear oil you use as a body lotion and it comes up a lovely golden colour. You don't use gloves or a mitt.
Sally Hansen for a quick colour.
The 'Tan' shade isn't good as it looks like you've put foundation on your legs,
'Medium' is better.
For me 'Fair' is too pale.
India Knight raved about This Works Golden Tan thingy in the Sunday Times bought it but didn't rate it.
