Anyone fancy a 'shit I'm going on holiday, I need to sort myself out' thread?

It's just dawned on me that it's 6 weeks til my holiday, this has made me feel considerable guilt about the 90% Easter egg diet I've been on for the past week.....anyway I'm not interested in any 'bikini body' nonsense but does anyone fancy a general 'sort your shit out' pre holiday type thread?
Somewhere we can gather and spur each other on to drink 14 gallons of water per day and dry body brush away 3 stone of dead skin?! We can share swimwear ideas, how not to look an agitated, red, sweaty mess in the sun (me) and maybe even cultivate an air of tanned sophistication?! Is it too much to ask?
Me, I'm going to ramp up my water intake, get my hair cut, but new swimwear that I actually like and don't leave to rot for 6 months in a damp swimbag.....summer dresses and sandals, keep on top of my gym going and yoga (hopefully).....
Anyone want to join in?

Yes! I'm going away in 4.5 weeks and I need to sort myself out!

I've just booked my bikini wax, manicure, eyebrow shape and fake tan. I have a couple of horrible verrucas at the moment so can't get a pedicure but I am going to work on my feet as best I can at home. I've also booked a hair cut.

I would like to get my stomach a bit flatter, so really want to eat well for the next few weeks. I've got one costume I do like already, but could do with getting another one. This is the first proper resort sun holiday I have done in years (3 DC later) so I've also had to do a fair bit of shopping for clothes as I had very little that was suitable - so I really need to go through what I have bought so far and see if there is anything else I need.

Mammysin · 24/04/2017 14:31

My holiday is just over 3 weeks away but my "deadline " is my birthday 3 weeks after that. I have booked my hair in for cut n colour in a months time and beauty treatment for 2 weeks time . I need casual clothes asap tho ' 😊

Kennethnoisewater · 24/04/2017 14:33

Hello one!!! Yes, before I buy any (more) stuff I need to get all my summer clothes out of the attic! and take a bloody good inventory!
I've had a spray tan before going away before but found the chlorine in the pool stripped off all the colour! So I went in brown and came out white!!! Gutted....

Hi mammy I've got a premier membership from Asos (£15 for a year) that means I can order online, it's delivered the next morning and all returns are free, it's an absolute lifesaver, means I can order lots, try on and then post back what I don't need, I recommend it to everyone! They have 100's of brands so even if I want a dress from warehouse, I get it from them for the free postage! Plus it has the dual bonus of a. Not having to drag children round shops and b. Having to try on in tiny changing rooms with The Worlds Most Unflattering Lighting.....

If anyone's got any tips for where does good swimwear I'm all ears.

I mean, it looks nice. The 'young' shops are all about cut outs and the blander shops like M&S are all about 'hiding your bumps' and I don't care about that either, I'm after some nice design.

oliviaoatcake · 24/04/2017 14:51

This came up on my phone as 'anyone fancy a shit?' Grin

Anyway, great idea for a thread. Have a look at the Princessing threads too - lots of useful information on there about how to transform yourself for big events.

Re a tan, I've just bought the new M&S tanning oil after seeing rave reviews and have to say it's fantastic on my older skin. Other tanners can leave my skin parched. I also bought the primer too but was so confused about what to do with it and when I left it. Having done some Googling, I think it's a chemical exfoliant you're meant to use a day or two before doing the tan to get rid of old skin. I had considered putting it on and then applying the tanning oil straight on top. Shock

Kennethnoisewater · 24/04/2017 15:27

That's good to know olivia I use 'bondi sands' fake tan and its bloody brilliant! But yes, it does dry my skin out. I quite like the thought of this thread coming up as 'fancy a shit'!!

Me too. Greek island holiday in July and I'm seriously tempted to stay home and wave DH and DDs off just stick to bloody jeans/T/boots uniform Hmm.

Mines more of a head thing tho Hmm

DameXanaduBramble · 24/04/2017 16:47

I'm going away in 6 weeks' time, so far I've bought a few bits, I still have some things to buy. Just bought this gypsy dress and this white stuff flowy dress to waft around in. Both are super flattering. Also have two pairs of metallic havaianas, gold and silver which should cover everything.

dnamummy · 24/04/2017 16:50

Footner now! Then gel manicure just before you go.

Fridayfun · 24/04/2017 16:54

Great idea for a thread. I am away in July and need to get back to healthy eating ways asap. I was ok before easter but haven't stopped eating chocolate since. The thoughts of swimwear shopping should get me back on the straight and narrow.

Kennethnoisewater · 24/04/2017 17:05

I'm a bit scared of footner!
I'm intrigued about the imedeen pre holiday tablets, anyone tried them?

Cherrypie32 · 24/04/2017 17:06

I'm going away in 5 weeks and have re-started the 800 blood sugar diet again today (did it for a week before Easter then ate too much chocolate!). Dug out my Mother's Day salon voucher and booked a pre holiday wax and eyebrow/lash package. Hair will be next. Need to factor in some exercise but will be walking the dog daily.

Cherrypie32 · 24/04/2017 17:08

I struggle with swimwear due to large chest but if I didn't Joules and Boden do some nice bikinis/tankinis/swimsuits Smile

LoupGarou · 24/04/2017 17:55

Coco Bay do some lovely swimwear and holiday stuff, I usually order from there.

Girlsworld92 · 24/04/2017 18:51

Interested in this. I've put on about 10lb recently so need to shift that before we go away in 5 weeks. We are going all inclusive though so need to try to not put all 10lb back on Confused

Kennethnoisewater · 24/04/2017 19:07

Went to the gym today and did an hour of weight training. I never feel like eating any rubbish when I've been to the gym, sort of feel like it's undoing all my hard work.
Read in this weeks Sunday times a glowing review of 'ameliorate' body cream, gets rid of 'chicken skin' from all over the body and leaves it smooth, I'm interested! I'll attach a pic in a bit.

I need to have a look at the Princessing threads!

Brastop do some nice D-cup+ swimwear in individual sizes and my experience with returns has been fine, though I haven't bought from them in the past few months: www.brastop.com/all-swimwear-bikini-swimsuits

SimplyNigella · 24/04/2017 20:43

Can I join in please? Mine isn't a holiday but a bloody work conference somewhere very hot with both a swimming pool and city sightseeing in 90 degree heat.

I haven't lost the three stone I had planned (I started well but always sabotage myself. Need to deal with some issues I think) so need to work with what I've got.

Kenneth that cream sounds amazing and ASOS stock it so I can use my premier delivery (I'm also a fan).

I also need to find a decent gradual tanner- any recommendations?

Kennethnoisewater · 24/04/2017 21:32

Asos stock the cream?! That's made my night!
Someone upthread has recommended the m&s tanning oil so that might be worth a go?

OP posts:
AdoraBell · 24/04/2017 21:49

Some lovely bits on that link LoupGarou. Roll on payday.

SimplyNigella · 24/04/2017 21:50

Oooh is that a gradual tanner? Off to google now.

Assume this is the same cream? It certainly gets good reviews on other sites.

Kennethnoisewater · 24/04/2017 21:52

Yes nigella that's the one! Palmers do a version, it's only about a fiver, but my god the smell of it is horrendous!

OP posts:
SimplyNigella · 24/04/2017 21:55

I'd expect Palmers to smell lovely! Definitely going to try this, I obsess over wanting lovely smooth arms.
