In the flesh it's more orange than red.

It fits nicely and I'm planning to wear it on the school run on cold days with skinny jeans.

I'm 5ft3, slim with dark hair.

What's the verdict: good or evil?

I have to agree with Mad it is very mumsnety, and I'm afraid I don't like it. I'm not a lover of practical clothing! Grin

BusterGonad · 16/03/2017 15:59

My mum would love it. She'd wear it at work, she's a sinner lady! 😂

BusterGonad · 16/03/2017 16:00

Sinner!!!! Lol. Dinner.

PrudetheObscure · 16/03/2017 16:02

I was pondering all the different explanations that might be coming regarding your sinner mum Buster.Grin

PovertyJetset · 16/03/2017 16:04

Bit practical, if it was a different colour I'd love it.

It's a bit Boden/joules mum on the school run which is exactly what you're after so.... go for it! Grin

BusterGonad · 16/03/2017 16:05

Lol prude. She often sins in her Seasalt duffle coat, she favors the yellow!

Corialanusburt · 16/03/2017 16:05

It's verging on the evil. I dislike the pockets, the poppers and the colour.
You'd need to be French, tall and rangey to pull it off, and if you were those things you'd probably pick something different anyway.

Bluntness100 · 16/03/2017 16:08

It's alright, just a big standard coat in the blue or green, it's fairly hideous in the orange, sorry. I'd think you'd just come off a life boat or were moonlighting for easy jet....😋

Bluntness100 · 16/03/2017 16:08

Bog standard!

Corialanusburt · 16/03/2017 16:10

I find Sea Salt, Fat Face, White Stuff and Boden's styling and marketing cynical.
They know most people can't afford expensive things. They know that British women have conflicting desires to be stylish And practical.
They end up with a horrible mumsy simulacrum of style and you're kind of stuck with it because it's just about affordable.

BusterGonad · 16/03/2017 16:18

I would struggle to spend that on a coat I loved, but defiantly not on one I need to ask mumnetters if it's good or evil! Grin

greeeen · 16/03/2017 16:23

No idea how old you are but I think these look silly/frumpy but mostly just so boring on anyone over 21.

MontanaSkies · 16/03/2017 16:31

I like practical warm coats, and this is almost OK, but there's just something a bit "off" about it to me.

I'm pretty sure it's those pockets with the little pleat in them that makes it look a bit... unstylish. A little bit Edinburgh Woollen Mill.

FeralBeryl · 16/03/2017 16:33

Oh I love it!
Definitely police your lower half though-you could easily go all Hayley Cropper with the wrong trouser...

MyHairIsMyHair · 16/03/2017 16:38

Thank you all!

I think it only works if it makes me feel good and as Buster points out, I have to be undecided to be asking.

Simulacrum is now my word of the week!

Think the red is great & that colour is everywhere this season. Agree with lala over the blue and green versions - aged/frumpy. I hate mustard so wouldn't like that, but I see others do.

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 16/03/2017 16:54

I prefer the Seafolly jacket, which is a touch shorter and has toggles instead of poppers.

MyHairIsMyHair · 16/03/2017 16:59

Loving the idea of 'policing my lower half '!

I do get what you mean there!

Don't look now!

Thisrabbitthatrabbit · 16/03/2017 17:10

I love it. But I seem to love everything mumsnet hates and vice versa.

MichaelSheensNextDW · 16/03/2017 18:30

GrinGrin at Easyjet orange and Don't look now

Like the style but rancid colour choices. Fatface often do something similar in other colours, or browse a non-frump retailer like ASOS?

SugarLoveHeart · 16/03/2017 18:34

I like the green. But I wouldn't buy it. Looks practical though!

Botanicbaby · 16/03/2017 18:55

Yep it looks practical and warm. Bland in style though. You could never love it.

I don't like it in orange as at first glance it reminded me of those hi-vis orange anoraks that I've seen at a market. Same length and pockets. Without a fleecy lining though.

geordiedench · 16/03/2017 19:00

I love that colour. The coat itself is a bit bland - especially for Seasalt - they usually add soem detail or cut that lifts their coats out of the anorak league. But it would be great for dog walking and school run.
