Am I the only Laydee who doesn't like high heels?

On THIS MORNING they were showing high heels of various styles

And to me they all look really uncomfortable

My sis wears them all the time even for shopping

I love my BIRKOS for summer and my {low heeled/flat} boots or trainers for winter

I know most people think I am "weird" BUT am I the only one?

I wonder how many of you will own up to also being "weird" in NOT liking high heels?

I'm with you 100% Kanga!!

BettySpaghetti · 27/02/2007 12:04

Me! Can't do heels -walk like a man in drag if I wear them ]grin]

Lio · 27/02/2007 12:05

Saw that too. Anything with a heel hurts my feet, certainly wouldn't be able to run in them. If I tell you that I saw a lovely pair of shoes in Clarks today that prob tells you all you need to know

I was waiting at the school gates the other week and a woman picked up her little boy from the pre-school. She was wearing those naff 80's style boots with big stilleto heels and as she was carrying him across the road her heel went over and she fell flat on top of him in the middle of the road!

Give me a comfy pair of boots anyday!!

MamaG · 27/02/2007 12:11

...ok so maybe i don't wear them for the school run - well, not stilettoes

yes yes yes for work/social occasions - make your legs look great and i feel weird if i walk in flat shoes

RTKangaMummy · 27/02/2007 12:11

Thanks ZC and BS

I am not alone then

birkenstocks are the devil's shoes

sandcastles · 27/02/2007 12:13

I don't like them either. Which is a good job really as I can't walk in them due to having sprained my ankles at least 3 times each side.....

MamaG · 27/02/2007 12:15

these are my slippers

ShowOfHands · 27/02/2007 12:17

I never wear heels. Shoe collection consists of lots of Doc Martens, a few pairs of Birkenstocks and some thai velvet ballet shoe things.

Lazycow · 27/02/2007 12:17

I do wear thenm sometimes for work but only when I don't have to walk far. I like the look of them but at 42 years old I have had enough of crippled feet and juSt want to be able to walk without sobbing!!

charliecat · 27/02/2007 12:18

No, I think they look vile, and walk like a man in anything over an inch tall.
Google reef tigris, flipflops, that sound like high heels, give you an inch in height and are so so so so so comfy.

Tortington · 27/02/2007 12:19

me - i want to - i want to look leggy and feminine.

i want to be all girly in the shoe regard.

but i just cant ferkin walk in them.

MamaG · 27/02/2007 12:19

I can't do high hells either I have a pair of vintage boots which are a block type heel but and have wedge heel peep toe shoes but that's it. I cannot walk in high heels at all. I prefere my flat pixie boots tbh. I'm also reasonably tall and have noticed more of my vertically challenged friends are into high heels than the tall ones.

MamaG · 27/02/2007 12:22

you're right dodge.

I'm 5' 3

weepootleflump · 27/02/2007 12:23

Only wear heels when I do black tie.

Love my birkies (only finally put them away in Nov ). The rest of the time I'm in flat boots or pumps.

I'm only 5 foot dead as well.

Lullabyloo · 27/02/2007 12:25

did to please dh for a few years...fine if just for sitting in a restaurant but hell on earth if have to walk more than two inches...

when i became pg they were relegated to the back of the wardrobe to gather cobwebs....and there they will remain me thinks..
dh sometimes digs them out & stares at them wistfully.....not a hope sunshine..

NotQuiteCockney · 27/02/2007 12:27

They're really not good for you.

I walk a lot, and just can't be bothered with heels. I used to wear low comfy ones for work (and used to wear stillettos for clubbing) but can't face any of that now.

I do own about 7 billion trainers, and have a couple of lovely 'Think!' brand shoes that are girly and lovely but entirely flat and really comfortable.
