WWW's 10 years younger boot camp proper, Feb half term to April WEEK TWO

WideWebWitch · 26/02/2007 14:04

Right, this is week two of boot camp proper so let's all start again:

Granola
lunch was
blueberries
half an apple
half an avocado
2 small rosemary crackers thinly spread with cream cheese
a few walnuts and pine nuts
about 4 beetroot
a sliver of cheddar
some cherry tomatoes

had 2 glasses of wine with desp housewives last night but didn't even finish the second

Haven't walked but am off work today (skiiving) and wondering about walking to collect ds although it's at least 30 mins each way and may take longer as I'll have dd with me.
Not enough water but am still drinking it. No idea what we're going to eat tonight, salmon steaks maybe, in fact I'm going to get them out of the freezer now.

And I'm not wearing any make up as am at home and have used body lotion all over this morning. Will def have an early night.

No wine last night (major achievement).
So yesterday
Porridge
Felafels, hummous and salad
few pieces of fruit
Salad with lentils, feta, pumpkin seeds and new potatoes.
Lots of water as usual.

Feel great today (despite staying up late to finish a costume for ds for tomorrow) but my skin has gone to pot.

You'll be pleased to hear I had something different for breakfast this am - bircher muesli with raspberries and blueberries.

Also spent a fortune on two eye creams yesterday - one for night and one for day.

Jeangenie we have cakes in the office today - am going to try and give them a wide birth.

puddle · 28/02/2007 11:07

Can anyone give me tips for getting to bed early, especially on the three days a week when I work and get home at 6.30?

I have baths and stories to do, supper to make, the kitchen to clear up, packed lunches to make, clothes to get out for the next day, school bags to get ready..yada yada yada. DP does some of this but he's a teacher and if I want to see him at all in the evenings I end up doing a lot of it while he does an hour's prep.

I find myself vowing to have an early night and then getting to bed about 12.00.

swedishmum · 28/02/2007 18:52

No ideas about early nights Puddle - but do let me know if you find the answer! My 4 children are from 3 - 13 so with homework and activities, early nights are right out.

I'm taking a day off (though I've lotioned and sunblocked and done water and hand cream) - 11 plus results for dd2 tomorrow and I'm so fidgety. She's bright but a bit off the wall. Been bowling but need a bit of unhealthy food/wine tonight. All I've had today so far is a pink grapefruit, raw veg with a teeny bit of low fat hoummus and grilled veg with balsamic vinegar.

WideWebWitch · 28/02/2007 19:51

Swedishmum, hope the 11+ result is good, I reckon you can have some wine tonight, wow, nice compliment from your neighbour!

Puddle, how old are your children? My suggestions below:
baths: can they bath themselves OR skip it one night or shower instead?
and stories to do: can you agree a dvd episode of something/playing in their room for half an hour instead just on some nights?
supper to make: pre prepare bags of veg to just chuck in the oven in a dish, buy M&S Cook range to freeze and get it out the morning and put in oven the minute you get in, search here for a quick food thread
the kitchen to clear up: can children help? packed lunches to make: can they make their own? Ds who is 9 does his own every night
clothes to get out for the next day: ditto, can they do it?
school bags to get ready: ditto, can they do some?

Now, eye cream everyone, what do we think? My eyelids have ALL OF A SUDDEN gone a bit crepey and it's pissing me off. Is eye cream worth it? If so which one? Does it really work? Recommmendations please!

Yoyo, skipping? I couldn't do it but if it works for you go for it! good on food

Jeangenie, well done on resisting biscuits, sesame seeds are good for you so don't worry about the sugar on the odd occasion I reckon.

Batters, glad your rash has gone and well done for walking in the rain. I quite like those progs sometimes too.

WEll, mixed for me. I did drink some wine last night and had a few pretzels and Twigletts. Never mind.

Went to bed late but didn't wake up until 7.15 which is far too late but still, felt ok as a result.

Not too bad ish
Granola
apple
hummus and salad sandwich, 386 cals
a small flapjack because I felt faint at 3pm
2 party ring biscuits, ditto
and I was unkind to dh last night and was most definitely in the wrong so I made him a special supper tonight, posh fish and chips, i.e.
M&S dressed crab, 160cals
half a lobster,
M&S chips, prob only 100 cals
M&S mediterranean veg, prob only 80 cals
Cava, oops
But I did walk half an hour at lunchtime with sunscreen
And lots of water

I think the moral for me is make sure I take my own lunch as I usually do since I would normally have nuts and things to stop me going for biscuits but I really did feel faint and weak and was about to go to a meeting so no time to go to the coffee shop and get anything. I need a fruit bowl on my desk again I think.

Skipping going well WWW! It really does get the heart rate up. Pelvic floor needs a fair bit of work though - am awaiting an appointment to get it checked out.

Done really well all day but DH fancies watching a DVD tonight which will mean he will want some wine and if he has some wine he will want some nibbles to go with it... Anyone read "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie"? I will be the mouse tonight.

Off to do some ironing.

had a very stressful day yesterday and went to bed too late last night, almost midnight, feel like death today
(ate relatively well though, walked a lot and had no booze)
must be coming up to my period cos I just want to eat crap

somehow I feel that today will be a battle against the nasties, wish me luck

eye cream, I use Olay, I like it as it is nice and emm, creamy. Eye gels can be nice too, I know boots do one in the No 7 range. No idea if they work but I think they do enable the makeup to glide on that bit better in the area if you need to disguise anything (large circles of blackness in my case)

swedishmum · 01/03/2007 11:10

She passed! The online admissions site has been crashing all morning - too many parents I guess - but I got through in the end. Goodness knows what my blood pressure was by then...

CAMy · 01/03/2007 11:53

Hello everyone !!

Well, haven't had time to get on here this week: dd was confirmed on Monday evening, she was in a swimming gala on Tuesday evening and she was swimming training yesterday evening. I'm exhausted

Still, there are no overweight children at her school

And how good have I been, no alcohol at all for the past 2 nights, eating lots of veg and salads, organic rice, fruit and drinking lots of water and fruit teas.

Winnie, hope things are marginally better with your dd today.

Congratulations to swedishdaughter on 11+ pass, will she be going to grammar school, sm?

yoyo · 01/03/2007 11:53

Well done Swedishmum's DD! Are you doing anything to celebrate?

puddle · 01/03/2007 13:44

Yesterday was a wash out from lunch onwards - went out for lunch with work colleagues and had mushroom pie and mash and a glass of wine, then out to an evening do, cue more wine and no supper really except a few chips and nachos.

Felt ill with hunger at 3.00 this am and had to get up and have a bowl of mini shedded wheats!

WIll get back on track today.

Blimey swedishmum - 4 kids to get sorted, no wonder you get to bed late.

WWW thanks for your suggestions. There's no way we can not have stories, but could quite easily do showers some nights so thanks for that. They are 4 and almost 7 so too little to do their own lunches (and to be honest the mess they woul make would be another thing for me to clear up).

I bought two different origins eye creams - v expensive and will report back if they work. I have been using olay and liz earle for years and my eyes aren't too bad but am now 40 and thought I'd see if a more expensive one makes a difference watch this space.

Oh and have just had hair cut and coloured!

swedishmum · 01/03/2007 14:03

Thanks - she'll be off to GS which is about 10 miles off in a local town, along with her sister. My guess is she'll want to go to Pizza Express or Indian tonight - I suppose I'll just have to suffer (don't think she'll be up for steamed fish and chargrilled veggies somehow....)

Today I've had a banana, chargrilled asparagus and some raw veggies w low fat hummus with lots of water. There should be a saintly emoticon!

CAMy · 01/03/2007 15:34

Today I've had natural yougurt with honey for breakfast, coffee and oj.

Lunch: ratatouille and water.

Tonight am making a beef and wine casserole with brocolli.

WideWebWitch · 01/03/2007 18:44

Cam, it comes to something when your child has a better social life than you! Otherwise it sounds very healthy though, well done.

Puddle, ah well, not long now, my ds has been making his own lunch for over a year, he's 9 now. Look forward to hearing about the eye creams. Never mind about last night, bet it wasn't that bad because you didn't eat too much (not that it's to be recommended!) but onwards.

Swedishmum, well done to your dd!

Jeangenie, sorry about stressful day, I hope today was better.

batters, thanks re eye cream and well done on walking, hope the cold is one of those that threatens but doesn't come to anything.

Last night wasn't very good, although it was bloody delicious, late night too. But at least I took my make up off.

Not a great day
Granola
a few pine nuts and walnuts
a proscuitto sandwich with mustard which was horrible because the bread was stale so threw crusts away
I don't really know how (actually if I think about it it's people and nice boys asking me if I want them to get me any!) but I had THREE Americanos today (black with no sugar though)
No walking as went out with my new boss at lunchtime (where I didn't eat but had one of the coffees)
Water but not as much as usual
fishfingers and peas for supper
won't drink tonight, it's dh's night out so I will be in bed with the laptop and a pile of magazines and books at about 8pm.

what's a social life www?

Forgot to say dd also played in an inter-schools hockey tournament this week. Does standing watching in the cold wind and shouting for your team count as exercise?

Anyway I've finally managed to get properly on the Lent no alcohol wagon and am determined to stay there till Easter.

Hope your cold gets better soon Batters.

arfishy · 02/03/2007 09:52

Whew, am finally back. It's all been very stressful, although as you so intuitively pointed out WWW, I might have earned a few extra dollars for my holiday fund.

I have been so good I am practically cannonised. I've done 2 swimming sessions, 1 power walk and one resistance training in the gym this week. I've been eating all natural unprocessed food, drinking my goji juice using handcream, legcream and sunscreen and am drinking gallons of water and green tea.

As I'd spent so long hunched crab-like over a couple of laptops last week I was all crunchy with knotted shoulders so I nipped off to a new Chinese massage place that had caught my eye. The man was a genius and I feel ten years younger. I only had to supress a scream twice and a feeling of mild panic when he climbed onto my back once.

I got a bit over-confident in my new found association with the health food shop and picked up the holistic magazine. It was very scary. I did buy another couple of spirulina bars, which I think are a bit sinister because I've been strangely craving them, and they're algae fgs.

Oooh Oooh. And as a treat for losing a stone (I am conveniently ignoring the fact that this is half of my sheer gluttony weight gain), I've booked myself into a celebrity hairdresser for a new do next week. [excited emoticon].

How is everybody? Is your DD ok now Winnie? How's your cold Batters? Cam you sound shattered. Squeeze in some reflexology .

WWW - I keep hearing good things about roc.

How long do you skip for puddle?

yoyo · 02/03/2007 10:56

Arfishy - you are definitely the proud wearer of the halo this week! Celeb haircut sounds ace. Thought I'd have a pot into which I'd save a pound a day and after a year I could get my hair cut by Nicky Clark(e). Would probably need to book now though! Keep up your splendidi work - still think the aldae bars sound foul.

Had a very early night last night with no wine after a fairly healthy stir fry for supper. Have walked to and from school, been to gym and am about to do the school run again after a very quick shower and creamm application.

The sun is shining and I feel GOOD!!

Iota · 02/03/2007 11:01

This week has been good for me so far - it's so much easier when dh is not around to lead me astray.

Had an unexpected extra exercise session this morning as my car refused to start - the kids and I walked to school for the first time - it's about a mile and a half.

I think I've lost a few pounds since I started this though, so I'm happy

puddle · 02/03/2007 11:07

yesterday made up for Wednesday!

Bircher muesli with bleberries and raspberries.
Spicy veg soup
baked potato, salmon, lentils and salad. No wine.

And bed at 10.30!

Yoyo is the skipping genius arfishy, not me! Well done on your weight loss - report back on hair. I had mine done yesterday and it's give me a real boost, that and the fact trouders are a bit looser today. .

Eye cream making no visible improvement so far dammit.

I did not exactly stick to my plan last night. Dh went to get some milk but came back with chocolate and wine as well.

So its lots of water etc for me today but I won't torture myself too much about it as its the weekend

WideWebWitch · 03/03/2007 10:26

2 apples
I didn't walk as I went out for lunch but had a greek salad and water
didn't use sunscreen
went out for dinner and had tandoori chicken
but lots of wine
and a lie in courtesy of ds so feel fine
So good on food and happiness and 2 nice sociable mealtimes but not good on wine and no exercise
Never mind, I feel good today.

Well done everyone
