Where do you buy quality, stylish boys' clothes?

My eldest boy is 6 and likes to look a certain way! He likes preppy, classic clothes and refuses jogging bottoms and character clothing (thank god). We shop at Joules quite a bit but we've already got a plethora of half-zip striped sweaters. M&S is a complete fail this season. Where do you dress your boys? I'm bored of trawling the net - please offer some ideas! Price point - £20-50 per item.

Boden
Trotters

OCSockOrphanage · 30/01/2017 10:06

Always worth a look in TKMaxx.

namechange20050 · 30/01/2017 10:07

Boden, Gap, J Crew.

kimann · 30/01/2017 10:15

Children's Salon, Alex and Alexa. Smile

Fishcakey · 30/01/2017 10:18

£50 an item?!!! What's wrong with Primarnie?!

misscph1973 · 30/01/2017 10:20

Polarn O. Pyrat.

VioletRoar · 30/01/2017 10:20

Next, H&m? Probably lower than you pay, but great quality & selection. My 8yo ds is very fashion conscious and loves these shops, wouldn't be caught dead in joules stuff though.

VioletRoar · 30/01/2017 10:22

Sorry I completely misread your op... potentially rubbish suggestions from me above as they're not "preppy" as such! Oops! Hope you find some lovely clothes 🙂

skincarejunkie · 30/01/2017 10:24

That's my lunchtime sorted! Thank you muchly, you wondrous lot!

Polo Ralph Laren and J Crew would be good starts. There are some 5-6yo classics in JoJo Maman Bebe - their Breton stuff maybe (if he is on the small side).

sauronskitten · 30/01/2017 10:34

A few pieces from the John Lewis Heirloom Collection or Monsoon (waistcoat, shirt, jacket) mixed up with shirts and jeans from Polarn O. Pyret might work

skincarejunkie · 30/01/2017 10:36

We've a few Ralphies. I'm starting to have an issue with them though (MY issue, not my DS!) - are they getting a bit chavtastic? I think it's the heaps of unironed ones in outlet stores. Their collars pop well though! Husband has returned to Hackett and Crew. Ooh, Hackett! *adds to list to google in peace later

John bloody Lewis! Perfect. Why didn't I think of that? Such a fool. Thank you!

Tommy Hilfiger

mrslebon · 30/01/2017 11:21

I buy from Boden, Zara, Mango sometimes Land's End, H&M (particularly the Conscious range) and the occasional bits from Boots Mini Club.

WhispersOfWickedness · 30/01/2017 11:23

Vertbaudet quite nice too Smile

missyB1 · 30/01/2017 11:27

its hard for boys isnt it? My 8 year old likes
crew clothing
john Lewis
odd bits from Boden
Joules (but yes they are a bit samey)
Timberland

weebarra · 30/01/2017 11:38

I buy from Boden, Joules, Crew, Polarn o Pyret and a Finnish (I think!) brand called Metsola.
Also a bit of Vertbaudet - excellent for my very skinny 9 year old, and Land's End.
All in the sale!

skincarejunkie · 30/01/2017 11:45

It is hard with boys, yes, Missy
The departments are half the size of the girls'! Crew have stopped their children's wear now. Sad
What's wrong with Primarni? Nothing. I just don't want to buy it!
Verbaudet - good shout, not looked there

And Vertbaudet reminded me of PetitBateau

Oh, sauronskitten, I don't know about the boy but I've just found my Breton & Mariniere heaven... Smile

Boden, Gap and Bennetton

whiteonesugar · 30/01/2017 12:36

La redoute does some lovely boys bits. DS is only 2 but I have a certain style I like for him and he has a gorgeous navy double breasted pea coat from La Redoute.

Other places I like are Zara and some next. Next can be hit and miss though.

skincarejunkie · 30/01/2017 12:50

I just peeked at La Redoute - never thought of it, glad you mentioned it whiteonesugar - it has some lovely bits. Cable knits and shirts. I might even be able to persuade him into a slogan if it's en Francais!

I love beautiful boys clothes, my favourite look it lots of plain and classic clothes with beautiful shirts and lovely Ralph jumpers with timberlands or the like. My 6 year old has the most beautiful clothes which are all pristine. This is because he won't wear anything but a disgusting primark hoody, the same pair or jeans which I have to sneak into the wash and no long sleeved tops, just his favourite worn out tshirts with navy trainers. My eldest had no opinion on his clothes until he was about 11 and even now he's a fantastic dresser but the little one, it's a fight I can't bear to fight but it is so disappointing.
