What do you weigh, what is your body shape and what style or cut of clothes do you feel best in?

I'm struggling to loose my mum tum post baby so am more of a barrel shape now but with large breasts and hips but skinny legs. I am lost!

OP posts:

Ooo people like me. Nice. Agree with all above. Am 5'3, size 12/14 too, big boobs 34FF, slim legs, tummy. Happy at 10stone 4, more than that since Xmas/massive love of cake.

Look better in a dress or skinny jeans/ankle boots, nothing too baggy. Has taken years to find this out. Also had colours done - well worth it- loads more compliments & easier to shop/coordinate wardrobe.

BakeOffBiscuits · 20/01/2017 20:52

I'm just under 5ft 3 and am 8st 13 and am trying to get down to 8st 7.

I'm 32F and have far too skinny legs and a bit of a tummy.

I live in skinny jeans and baggy jumpers but am trying to smarten up a bit.

Hassled · 20/01/2017 20:57

I'm 9 stone but with such a small frame that I do look like I could lose a bit of weight. Most of the 9 stone appears to be on my belly. I have good legs and used to dress accordingly but once you hit a certain age a short skirt/skinny jeans seems less and less appropriate (am early 50s now) so I probably look like mutton.

Recentlylazy · 20/01/2017 21:01

5'2, 9st10. Usedto wear long flowing skirts or baggy tops with jeans, I looked dumpy. Now wear fitted dresses and look much smaller (I am not). Get my dresses from Boden. I am 54 so lined dresses made of better fabrics work well.

nooddsocksforme · 20/01/2017 21:19

5ft 4lb early fifties. got a massive shock this time last year when I realised id gone up to 10 stone. Still a size 10 but pretty tight and a total oblong in most of my clothes. went on the 5:2 and am now 8stone 5 lb. still got plenty fat on my bones but feel much better (and everything I put on looks ok ). in my fifties though and some people might my face has suffered , Don't actually want to lose any more but so scared to put it all back on that the weight keeps dropping

Hassled · 20/01/2017 21:52

nooddsocks - yes, that's the bastard issue once you pass your mid-forties or so, I reckon. Lose too much weight and it's your face that suffers; a friend has lost a ton of weight and she looks great body-wise, but she now looks her age which she didn't before. When her face was plumper she looked so much younger.

PickAChew · 20/01/2017 22:02

I'm 5'4, with short legs, no bum, no waist and 32GG/30H boobs. I weight 10stone 3, this morning and wear a 12-14.

I look and feel best in skinny jeans (I have good legs for those, for my overall shape) with a not too clingy top, but it needs to have some structure to it, whether that be some gentle waist shaping so it doesn't just hang off my boobs or something a bit looser, but with well defined shoulders and an interesting neckline, to draw attention away from the jellified mess that is my middle.

My favourite jeans are last year's M&S sculpt and lift skinnies. Slim fit doesn't work on me - I'm 47 and they make me look like someone's 67 year old grandma, trying to look with it. I can get away with boyfriend/girlfriend fit jeans in summer, or in winter with short ankle boots, but need to wear a more fitted top with them or else I look like a sack.

Sweetcheeks21 · 20/01/2017 22:07

5'3 and go between 9st 10 and 10lb 1. Size 10-12, small on top.

Sweetcheeks21 · 20/01/2017 22:09

Sorry, to reply to the OP! Classic pear. Skinny waist, small boobs, big thighs. Love petite skinny jeans or leggings and flowy long top.

DarkLikeVader · 20/01/2017 22:10

5.3 (and a half, on a good day) and I weigh 9st 2 atm, it's not a bad weight but I had a baby 12 days ago so my shape is currently a bit saggy so I need to lose a bit more and tone up. 30hh boobs, hourglass shape. Mostly I wear size 12 at the minute but if I hadn't just had a baby I'd be 10 at this weight. I suit wide/flared trousers with fitted tops best but thanks to most styles being skinnier currently I'm stuck in leggings and tunics that don't do anything for me. Watching for ideas with interest as I'm stuck in a style rut too!

BumWad · 20/01/2017 22:18

I am 5'3 and about 11st6lb.

I'm a size 12 although sometimes a 14 top as like you I have massive boobs. My bum and legs are quite slim and muscular. The fat is on my belly and boobs.

I wear a lot of dresses - not high neck. Or tunic type tops and skinny jeans/leggings.

I could do with losing some weight around my middle!

I lost a stone and a half last year (planning on shedding another half, once it's less bloody cold, because losing weight makes me shiver and I'm at the point where it's a long slog) and it's just caught up with my face, 2 months after moving onto maintenance. I'm 47 and had been looking at myself thinking I'd aged loads, but over the couple of months, it does seem to have settled and I've had 2 people telling me I look like I've lost weight and look good for it, in the past week.

I thikn the exact clothes that look good do depend a lot on body type and age, too. That oasis skater dress is so cute, but I could never wear it because it would just look frumpy on me. I think that, in middle age, it's easier to find clothes that flatter a saggy body without looking like you're dressing older than you should, though, as shops that aim for a 30-60 clientele do seem to use much better fabrics than those aiming for 15-35. Plus, there's the psychological aspect of feeling like you have permission to wear more flattering clothes without attracting negative labels. once you're a bit older, whereas, as a 25 year old mum with a temporary new baby jelly belly, there's less out there that feels age appropriate that won't accentuate the wobbly bits.

CountFosco · 21/01/2017 07:16

5'2", weigh 10st3lb, measurements 39", 34", 40", age 46 and am a size 14. I do look dumpy but fairly relaxed about what I wear, as long as it fits well I'd wear most styles although I don't do high heels. Currently live in skinnies and have rediscovered miniskirts after not wearing them since the 90s and am now wondering why I ever stopped!

MrsDc7 · 21/01/2017 07:26

I'm the same height as you and a size 10. I carry my weight on my arse and have b/c boobs. I find that skinny jeans are better than any other style... always get the shorter length though otherwise they look odd (unless you have long legs and a short body, which is unlikely at our height). My friend has big boobs and she reckons layering is the best way to look a good shape.

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 21/01/2017 07:29

I'm 5'2, about 8 st 7 and would like to tone up - have medium boobs, small waist and huge arse/thighs. I would need to be about 7 st to have the legs I want which isn't realistic, so am focussing on exercise abs toning as much as possible using Kayla Itsines BBG program, although atm I have a terrible cough so can't do much.
I wear skinnies, biker jacket, jumpers or skirts, to work mainly pencil skirts and jackets.

ArgyMargy · 21/01/2017 07:32

5'3", 8st, size 6 or 8. Skinny jeans, tapered trousers and shift dresses to the knee. Learned to dress properly from Trinny & Suzanna (yes, I am middle aged!).

Racheyg · 21/01/2017 07:38

I'm 5ft 4 and a size 12. Weigh 10st 7lb (on a diet at the moment)

I wear what ever I like rather than wants suits me Blushwhich is prob a huge mistake.

I think I'm an apple, all my weight is round my middle. My shoulders are wider than my hips. Short legs at 28inches.

Have always had a weight problem and I'm only getting it under control since having ds2

confusedandemployed · 21/01/2017 07:38

Currently too heavy at 11st 12, put on 9lb since July and I need to lose it. At 11st 3 I'm a 10-12. Currently a comfortable size 12 but i need a 14 in shirts thanks to boobs (34Ff). Small waist and sticky out bin.

I'm very muscular, do loads of weights. I do carry a bit of extra fat as well (e.g. c-section overhang).

I wear skinny jeans, tights and short skirts, jersey stretch tops and vests. I hate fashion at the mo, my body just doesn't suit shapeless.

Difficultyear2015 · 21/01/2017 08:27

I'm normally a 12 (sometimes a 14 in jeans) and an hourglass figure with small waist.
Boobs aren't huge at 32dd.

Normally weight 10st.

I'm currently 5 months pregnant so all that gone out the window though and I'm currently more of a whale shape.

I most wear skinny jeans, fitted tops, and boots.
I do not suit pointy flat shoes as the eventuate carrot shaped legs as I have tiny ankles but curvy thighs and bum.

When I wear dresses I prefer a skater style and do not ever go for midi or floor length.

Structured jackets suit me better and I get a lot of wear out of biker jackets, blazers, and military style winter coats

SomewhereNow · 21/01/2017 08:48

I'm ashamed to admit that at that height I weight around 14 stone Blush. However I am also baffled because I am only around a size 16 - I can easily fit into a 12 or 14 in some shops. Is is vanity sizing? I do have big boobs (36FF) and definitely look big but not massive. I can't understand all those saying they feel fat at 10 stone or whatever, I honestly think I'd look ill that thin. Or is my perspective screwed?

SomewhereNow · 21/01/2017 08:52

Sorry OP, to answer your question I'm quite hourglass shaped and wear skinny jeans with longer length tops a lot. I layer longline vests with t-shirts, sweatshirts etc usually with a biker or denim jacket and at this time of year a big scarf. I also like heavy jersey dresses which I think suit me - got a really nice one from H&M that I wear loads.

Middleoftheroad · 21/01/2017 08:53

5ft2. since havinh twins my overhang belly is a lost cause. even when I slimmed to 8 12 a few years ago I had a saggy pouch.

currently horrified that ive shot to 11st but working on it. yep skinny legs, big boobs. no waist

wrap dresses from Next H&m . never wear trousers. pencil skirts are a no go too.

confusedandemployed · 21/01/2017 09:00

Somewhere it depends entirely on frame size, muscle tone. I have a big frame and I'm very muscular. I think if I got down to a "healthy BMI" I'd look emaciated. I'm a comfortable 10 at 10st10lb. Although I accept that's probably a bit of vanity sizing.

Others with smaller frames or without much muscle tone will look flabby at 10st.

Scandicat · 21/01/2017 09:40

I think this is really eye opening. I'm 5 ft 2 and I've just lost a stone taking me from 12 stone to 11 stone. At this weight, I'm a comfortable size 12 and I'm starting to fit into size 10s. I do have some muscle from running etc but what this tells me is that at my height, a size 10 isn't necessarily enough to make me look slim. My target is 9.7 and I guess that would make me an 8.
