We need a diagram. Wink
How crepey is your neck?
Is the choker mid neck or sitting at the base?
Does it look good on you?

MitzyLeFrouf · 14/01/2017 16:41

It 's got nothing to do with your age and everything to do with your neck.

If you have a stubby neck you should never wear a choker.

If you have a lovely long neck you can wear a choker for the rest of your days.

BitOfFun · 14/01/2017 16:43

I would say so, as you'd be old enough to remember them from the first time round. Unless it is part of your usual style, I'd avoid it tbh, but I doubt anybody would be laughing at you in the street. I'd put it in the category of space-buns etc- best left to teenagers and young adults, unless you've always had a quirky sort of style.

MrAliBongo · 14/01/2017 16:44

Nothing to do with age: they looked bloody awful on me in my teens, so I'm sure as fuck not going there this time around!

AmeliaJack · 14/01/2017 16:47

It's not about age. It's about shape - they are not universally flattering.

If you think it looks nice then go for it!

MagicChicken · 14/01/2017 16:49

Depends on the state of your neck/throat.

That is always the case whether you are 20 or 70.

Brighteyes27 · 14/01/2017 16:51

My SIL had one on in December she is 39/40 and she looked absolutely fab in it. She is short petite and fairly slim. I think if you like it and think it looks good just go for it.

MagicChicken · 14/01/2017 16:52

And it's not just about the thickness and length of your neck either - even if you have a long graceful neck all your life if you develop loads of wobbly crepey turkey skin under your chin then a choker will massively draw attention to it. You could be lucky and have no double chin and no excess wobbly skin at any age in which case, great, go for it.

AuntieStella · 14/01/2017 16:54

No, not necessarily.

Check your mirror, not your birthday.

And it's liberating to ditch ageist assumptions, both for detail of appearance and for life in general.

Nellyphants · 14/01/2017 16:57

I'm 48, crepyiness is creeping in. I was fine at 41 so go for it

Dulcimena · 14/01/2017 17:06

I loved my velvet choker when I was younger. I wouldn't wear one now though (40). Not to say that you shouldn't, of course.

Reality16 · 14/01/2017 17:07

I saw 2 people wearing chokers at a family engagement party last week. One was 11 and the other was 7.

Don't wear a choker. They look ridiculous.

FrankAndBeans · 14/01/2017 17:10

Everyone is too old for a choker.

paxillin · 14/01/2017 17:11

SugarLoveHeart · 14/01/2017 17:17

Good neck.
Make sure it is a grown up choker.
This lady looks fantastic.

Black velvet or pearls or row of daisies or what though? And what is the occasion?

'Black tie' event; full on floor length evening dress, long gloves and thin plain black choker might look wonderful on a slim and elegant neck.

OhWellNeverMindEh · 14/01/2017 17:20

I think that filter might have been a bit flattering....I shall try on outfit and ask the DH.

I didn't wear them first time round and will be wearing a plain, black top and trousers....

You have a great neck. Go for it.

DowhatIwanttodo · 14/01/2017 17:22

Are they in or something? The trend must have passed me by.

From your pic I would say you could wear one.

BusterGonad · 14/01/2017 19:20

Who gives a shit? Wear it op and wear it with pride!

BusterGonad · 14/01/2017 19:21

I mean who gives a shit about age, not you wanting to wear a chocker! 😂
