I need a new hairstyle.
I have thick brown wavy hair that just sits on my head.
It is so dull.

I need advice, what ought I have done to it?
I have stuck a before picture of me in a profile. View it all she who dares.

I am thinking layers and highlights, but I really haven't a clue!

What's the "In bob" is it like Posh's do?

OP posts:
2boysmacca · 22/02/2007 19:54

Spagbol, yeah Posh's barnet. But there is a variation on it for those who don't have their very own personal hairdresser. I reckon it would really suit you because of those fantastic cheekbones. You don't need to go that short but it'd look great

JanH · 22/02/2007 19:55

FWIW my DDs - one with dead straight hair, one a bit wavy - have both recently had Posh-ish bobs and are finding them less bother than the long/layered/needing to be straightened arrangements that they had before. And DD2 - the wavy one - has a long face (always looks like a mushroom with a cycling helmet on top ) and it suits her far better than the long style.

but OTOH, spagblog, I agree with everybody who thinks you look pretty good already

Spagblog · 22/02/2007 20:00

Thank you everyone for saying nice things. I have self esteem issues, and it goes against the grain to accept compliments.

Arghh. I have hair appointment tomorrow and I still don't know what to ask for.

Since cut is a present from DH it will have to be drastic, otherwise he won't notice!

Go for it, it'll do wonders for your self esteem. A drastic cut will definitely grab the attention of people. And all those compliments will make you feel great

mousiemousie · 22/02/2007 20:07

I think you are beautiful.

My advice would be no fringe; length just slightly below chin. Go for one length with some face framing layers for a classic look; more layers for a funkier look. If going for the layers option then go to a funky hairdressers like Toni & Guy.

Different specs would be better too. Please post the after photo!

pollyanna · 22/02/2007 20:07

I think you are very lucky - you have thick hair and an oval face, and most styles will suit you, so you don't have to do anything to your hair. The style you posted is nice, but would be a fag each morning ime to recreate(I have thin, limp hair and a round face and have to do something with mine every day ). I would just go for a trim, but nothing major and get some different glasses (and use the money you save to go shopping )

spagbol, was it the big hair cut day today, what have you had done????????

Spagblog · 24/02/2007 17:43

Oh God

It is awful. I wish I had left it alone....
Serves me right

Plus I spent 40mins looking at frames and nothing suited me

If it's any consolation, whenever I have a change of hairstyle, I spend at least a week hating it. Guaranteed. But later love it and go back for the same a second time. Also, I always find that until I've washed and dried it myself a couple of times, it doesn't quite sit right. Takes time to get used to doing it the way I like.

Don't despair.

Lilliput · 24/02/2007 17:57

post another pic please!!

paulinec · 24/02/2007 17:58

Hi spagbol, what style did you go for?? As regards to your specs I have some half frameless ones, which are quite nice, the top bit has the frame, but the rest of the lense have no frame quite trendy but not overly trendy if you know what I mean. Are posting a photo of your hairdo or not???

Twiglett · 24/02/2007 18:00

I think short and a bit spiky .. think Halle Berry .. I think you have a lovely face-shape and strong jawline

I'd go darker highlights rather than light too

Spagblog · 24/02/2007 18:37

I wish I did look like Halle Berry, the hair cut is almost as short as hers.

I will try re-styling it and take a picture.

Right, finally uploaded a pic.
It is odd how different I look!

I got contact lenses today too.

My face looks completely different, I have lost my cheekbones and my chin doesn't look so long! Odd.
