Well, I spent NYE sitting round an outdoor bonfire with my cousin, her German husband and a friend. We are now out for lunch in a swanky hotel. I am wearing a beautiful new red kurta and am drinking beer.

No party here. We were supposed to be having dinner here with about 8 people, but there was so much chopping and changing that it turned into dinner with one lovely couple.

For those agog, I didn't go out as hip so painful. It's now better, the bastard, but that wouldn't have been the case if I'd gone out I suppose.

They've been a problem for years, but now the left one hurts pretty much all the time. I have googled, and found out what's wrong with it so will take it to the doc.

In other news, MiL has been moved to a new special place in the hospice and looks like she won't last the day. DP is on his way over. Happy new year to him.

HNY all. Off to work in a bit, then off for a fortnight. I am hoping to get better, get rested and get outside.

I know 1 January is just another day but I felt genuinely odd about starting a year in which my mother hasn't been alive.

Lost a long post last night, wanted to send special good wishes to the recently bereaved & the anxious hoping for peace of mind in 2017.

DSis2 & her DH have relaxed & we've had a pleasant time, slightly derailed when Dnephew & gf announced at two minutes to midnight that they were going to leave after the bells and drive home (5hrs). She said they wanted a day at home before work. DSis2 was furious & embarrassed but they went anyway. This is the second time they've done this to me, so I'm kicking myself for 1. not protesting the first time, 2. giving them a second chance. As before, they also came empty-handed, didn't lift a finger to help, let themselves be waited on and left without thanking us. I'm also regretting the £500 graduation present I gave him recently, which he acknowledged by text and hasn't mentioned since.

Don't know why I'm so focused on this, I'm not specially close to Dnephew & have always known gf is V selfish. Maybe it's just a relief to be angry instead of sad

Talking of emotional displacement, I haven't been able to cry about MiL. But now I think our old cat might be dying, and am distraught. He hasn't eaten for two days, and is all listless. He's 18, so it's been on the cards, and he drives me mad, but I love him so.

I'm going to have to take him to the emergency vet, aren't I. With DS.

Oh Auriga. I wouldn't be too impressed by that behaviour either.

Dd stormed off to Bristol in a temper yesterday evening. I have no idea whether she made it ok. Kept waking up all night, worrying.

I want post something coherent and uplifting, but I'm too shattered. Sending all Crepeys my best (if slightly wonky) wishes for 2017. (where's the ice pack emoji?)

I was verrrrrrrry slow with that post. X-posts, lots of people. Oh Herbs, that is so sad about your puss cat. I hope it's something treatable and he rallies.

Sorry about your DNephew and gf, Auriga. I was just that they could drive back - I take it they hadn't been drinking - most unusual for youngsters! How rude to not tell you in advance that was what they were planning to do and even ruder not to thank properly in person for the large sum of money.

Feeling a bit ropey after a late night - the DJ put on a good set - even DH was dancing! Back to normality with a bump now though.
