Boden cashmere jumpers, worth it and do they go any cheaper??

I have been eyeing up the Boden cashmere relaxed v neck jumper for a LONG time, it is 30% off atm and I'm wondering if it's worth a try... also is it likely to go any cheaper before Christmas? Is it itchy at all? Thick and luxurious? Any comments would be much appreciated!Wink

It's thick, luxurious and soft. Totally non-itchy. I love mine.

Nettletheelf · 28/11/2016 19:28

The cashmere goes bobbly really quickly. You will be forever shaving it.

Laska5772 · 28/11/2016 19:31

They are gorgeous.I have 2 the navy and the green, both were 30% off earlier in the season ( have never seen them go lower) Have washed both on delicate 30min machine wash .. and they came out fine no problem.

Dont forget to go through Quidco for a little bit more discount !

I have a few of their cashmere cardigans, they are extremely soft and lovely to wear. I have only shaved the bobbles of once in 2/3 years I've had them (and they still look like new).

Cuttysarky · 28/11/2016 20:36

Thanks so much for all the comments! Hmmm mainly positive, and had forgotten all about quidco! So... it's like I'm being paid to buy the jumper... in a way....a small way, but still! Ahh this swithering may continue until 11.58, keep the comments coming! X

And now I'm looking at the crew neck cardigans.. a lot cheaper, anyone know if it would be the same thickness of cashmere as the v neck? Also very large of chest and wouldn't be doing it up, would this be very unflattering in this style?? Wish there was a Slouchy Cardigan!!

I have thanks Euphemia, but I really had my heart set on 100% cashmere, and it all looks like blends there unless I've missed a style? My skin is annoyingly sensitive to most wool including merino, but I'm sure it would be ok with supersoft cashmere..

Woolovers have introduced a small range of 100% cashmere pieces this season.

SeaweedSa1ad · 28/11/2016 23:35

Have just received a Boden crew neck cardie (to try on briefly only, it's going to be a xmas present) - quite soft and rather beautiful. I'm looking forward to full possession!

Cuttysarky · 29/11/2016 09:01

Tweeters I still can't find any cardigans/jumper that are 100%, will have a look tonight tho! Seaweed that is what I ordered!! Am excitedly waiting for a despatch email!Smile

I did the same, I just returned 2x yesterday because I found them outrageously small!!!

They are very soft and lovely, though. Can't comment on the bobbling as I didn't wear it. Very dense.

HorseyHorseyTwat · 29/11/2016 09:08

The best cashmere jumpers I've had are Uniqlo. Lovely and soft and warm, and stay looking good for years - seriously, I've had mine for getting on for a decade and they've barely bobbled.

SeaweedSa1ad · 29/11/2016 09:35

Museum I got my usual Boden size and I thought it was a good fit: not tight but not loose / relaxed. Dodgy batch maybe? Confused

BakeOffBiscuits · 29/11/2016 09:40

They are very soft however the bobbling is ridiculousSad.
Very disappointed in them.

Mind you I bought a very expensive cashmere in Jigsaw and I spend half my life de bobbling it too!

MuseumOfCurry · 29/11/2016 09:55

The only cashmere jumper I've ever had that didn't bobble were TSE, I got them at the Harrod's sale.

queenbee69 · 29/11/2016 21:03

I have the Boden cashmere jumper in black and I love it, so soft and warm!

BikeRunSki · 29/11/2016 21:22

My Boden cashmere jumper is the best cashmere I've got. 5 years old, and still thick and lovely. Got some others - Jigsaw, Mint Velvet, John Lewis - that went through at the elbows and bobbly within a season.

Cuttysarky · 02/12/2016 00:18

My Boden crewneck Cardigan arrived and I am hugely disappointed! It feels really quite itchy on my (sensitive) skin, quite thin and not very soft.. like felted merino wool perhaps..,Sad also the shape of the Cardigan doesn't suit me... tried Whistles cashmere on yesterday, exactly the same.. I want thick! Soft as clouds! Slouchy shape! I am Size 18, anybody know if it's worth trying any styles from Uniqlo or will they be too small?(I definitely want slouchy, not slim fitting!)

Midlife Chic did a blog about Uniqlo cashmere and she really rated it and machine washed it and it survived (Boden cashmere does wash very well, I actually love it so sorry you had a bad experience).

I have a Boden one and a gap one- the gap one is a much thicker, chunkier style and very nice (might also be worth looking at menswear if you want slouchy); however, both bobble - I think my handbag rubbing causes it sometimes though.

sofato5miles · 02/12/2016 07:16

I've had the green v neck boyfriend jumper for 3 years. It is still in great nick and i love it. I am a 16 and bought the 12-14 and it fits perfectly

Floisme · 02/12/2016 08:20

Sorry to hear that, op. I have cashmere from Boden that's still looking good after 6 or 7 years but it sounds as if it's lower quality these days.

Uniqlo always gets a good write up but I would say it's the worst cashmere I've ever bought (and I've tried a few duds).

I agree with Euphemia about Pure Collection although again, the quality may have dropped since I tried it.

Cuttysarky · 02/12/2016 08:58

Will have a look at that blog later, thanks CountFosco! Euphemia am thinking of ordering a reduced Pure Cardigan to try, I can't find washing instructions though, are they handwashable do you know?
