I have been eyeing up the Boden cashmere relaxed v neck jumper for a LONG time, it is 30% off atm and I'm wondering if it's worth a try... also is it likely to go any cheaper before Christmas? Is it itchy at all? Thick and luxurious? Any comments would be much appreciated!Wink

Tanaqui I went into Gap recently and fondled their cashmere! Oddly there seemed to be vast differences in the softness and thickness depending on the colour!!? There was a fawn sort of colour that felt REALLY lovely, but sadly there was only tiny sizes left and they don't seem to have them online... will check again. Am sure they're excluded from most if not all offers also...
sofato5miles Is that a boyfriend jumper from Boden or Uniqlo?
Floisme, definitely looks like I should give Pure a shot!
Thanks for replies everybody! Wink

What is the big deal about cashmere-apologies if this is a really stupid question Grin.

I seem to read loads of posts about it being a nightmare to wash, bobbling, going thin at the elbows and lasting only a couple of years. The are really expensive, so why would you bother--what are the plus points??

Cutty I machine wash Pure Collection on delicate cycle in a pillow case and dry flat. It sometimes needs a bit of a comb but it's otherwise fine. But I haven't bought for a few years so I'm not sure what it's like now.

In some ways I think you're absolutely right roll. It's a pain in the arse but it feels beautifully soft and warm and it's also great if you want natural fabrics but can't get on with wool. But I think the cheaper stuff is getting steadily worse and I keep vowing to give it up although I haven't quite managed it yet.

It used to be you could easily find a good quality fine lambswool/merino knitwear but now those are hard to track down and it's synthetics or cashmere everywhere. Or mixes with a few % cashmere to make sure they go really bobbly.

Out of 256 jumpers on the M&S website there are one pure merino and six "pure wool" jumpers most rather cheap looking. But 24 cashmere.

I don't much rate cashmere, I don't really want to spend £100 on a jumper that goes bobbly (and no way of knowing if it will), but there is so little choice of any alternatives. Boden or anyone might change the yarn or source of their cashmere from one season to the next so having a good jumper 5 years ago doesn't really help.

Woolovers are not bad, big improvements in quality in the last few years and they've gone right posh this season.

Lambswool and cashmere/merino mixes.

rollon the advantages are you get a lot of warmth for the thickness. So easy to look smarter rather than bulky.
It's super soft so you could wear it next to the skin without getting itchy or achy like sheeps wool.
