do you have a stupid bra size?

I do.

I am 38 across my back - I have a broad back (not very feminine) and then the tinest of tiny boobies - an A cup to be precise.

38A

not bloody fair - most people with a broad back are at least usually blessed with huge norks.

those with an A cup are usually blessed with a danity frame.

Not me - huge bull of a back only to emphasize my tiny boobs.

And I can never find a bra I like in a nice size.

Come and commiserate with me about your boobies!

I'm 38E at the moment, having a big back and big boobs lust makes me look matronly, would love them to be smaller (was 36C pre-pg with DS1), and higher and firmer.......

Budababe · 14/02/2007 21:04

JanH - where are you? Can you get to Rigby & Peller? I was wearing a 46C/48B - having been measured in M&S and Evans - went to R&P - am now in a VERY comfortable 40E!!! It is really hard to buy a nice bra that is big in the back but small in cup - really worth going to R&P. Not cheap but I bought 4 bras that I find really comfy AND I like and give me a good shape.

pesme · 14/02/2007 21:05

kama get yourself down to a proper bra shop and get fitted it makes a huge difference.

Mycupoverrunswithlove · 14/02/2007 21:07

Dimpled thighs, I have the same measurement as you, its horrible isn't it? My back measurement is to do with the fact that I have a barrel ribcage, you know it sticks out. So I comfort myself with that, rather than thinking that I have a broad back per se iyswim

fizzbuzz · 14/02/2007 21:12

I am also a 32H/HH.

More than anything, I would like to buy a minimiser, but they don't go up to this size.

I teach in a secondary school, and would like them to be minimised as much as poss in that environment. However it appears you can only buy them for smaller sizes. Why not for bigger sizes? They need them most!

ssd · 14/02/2007 21:13

34H

hellish

poptot · 14/02/2007 21:17

LOL JanH have only stopped wearing Doreen since visiting Bravissimo in the summer, hilariously my dh states he oines for Doreen as the new ones do seem to be made of steel, although very pretty and very good shape. Have you been measured in Bravissimo? I only ask as I was amazed I was a 40 as had been wearing 42-44 for sometime, but she was right and in fact I am having to tighten them up now as they loosened a bit.

plipp · 14/02/2007 21:18

30F. Saves me a fortune...

poptot · 14/02/2007 21:19

pines not oines

JanH · 14/02/2007 21:20

I'm in Lancs, Budababe - bit far for a bra fitting in London!

I know what you mean though - last time I visited gggl she took me to a proper French lingerie shop and they size by eye too - they sold me an Aubade bra in a 36D () but with a 3" back extender!

It is an amazing piece of kit (and was an amazing price, and the matching knickers - which I didn't buy - cost even more!) but is black lacy underwired and not everyday wear. I just want a nice comfortable white soft thing for everyday...

MrsTittleMouse · 14/02/2007 21:22

Another 32H here. I keep looking with longing at the Bravissmo catalogue, but I'm still BFing, so I can't justify buying nice stuff that might not fit in a few months.
I can remember the days when I was a lovely 32D... [wistful nostalgic emoticon]

wurlywurly · 14/02/2007 21:24

am a 38H or 38HH depending on where you get the bra from. Give up trying to get anything "pretty" as i just cant afford it, I wear industrial reinforced bras everyday, and have one nice black and one nice white ones for if we go out.

InTheseShoes · 14/02/2007 21:24

JanH - there's a Bravissimo in Manchester.

nulnulcat · 14/02/2007 21:25

currently a 32f! but i have put some weight on and it always hits my boobs first im usually a 32e. Piled on the pounds when pregnant and ended up at my biggest a 36L!! got a lovely photo of dp and his best friend with one of my maternity bras over the heads and they were wearing there army helmets at the same time! spent 6 months of breast feeding with my 34gg's and felt positively flat chested when i finished!

found they have sagged now though so as soon as i have finished having babies i am having an uplift and having them all perky again! dont want them any bigger though its hard enough buying a dress as it is! I have to buy size 14 tops to fit my boobs in and they always end up huge on my back.

im only a size 8 bottom so find dresses a nightmare to buy and i can just forget about the all in one swimsuit!

franke · 14/02/2007 21:27

When I was pregnant with dd 5 years ago I was 30E. Ha ha ha. Those were the days.

fizzbuzz · 14/02/2007 21:32

Why are big bras so expensive though. Wish I could pick up a couple from M&S for a tenner.

I bought one when I was pregnant which was £38.00. Wore it for 5 months, waste of money!

hunkermunker · 14/02/2007 21:55

I'm a 34G/H.

yaddayah · 15/02/2007 10:08

Pre kids 36 C
Bf ds1 42 D (a..hem I did put on a large amount of weight!)
Post BF 38 C
pg/BF DD1 40 C
Currently a 36A (still perky due to wearing bra's 24/7 due to large weightloss and iron willpower .. though i do miss my boobs

Do I get a prize for the amount of underwear stuffed under my bed in totally different sizes which i'll never wear again ?

cremolafoam · 15/02/2007 10:15

just to say don't trust the online measuring thing. i came out as a 44aa- which is technically impossible. i went and got measured in a proper bra shop and the woman reckoned i was a 38E. she said that she never had sold a bra over 42 in 28 years. you will find the better quality the bra the better the fit.I have been liberated by proper measuring- can get bras almost everywhere now.most importantly sizes vary between makers and styles so the golden rule is to try it on.

sassy · 15/02/2007 10:19

I'm a 30J!

(Do I win the weirdly big end of the comp?)

cremolafoam · 15/02/2007 10:21

norktastic!

MrsBadger · 15/02/2007 10:21

kama - perhaps try John Lewis in Reading?

Budababe · 15/02/2007 10:25

JanH - shame about R&P - i came out with such a smile on my face! (DH didn't smile when I told him how much!)

If you know your Aubade size you could order on line prob if you are still same size?
