On my way home from a few hours at oxford street. I am desperate for new clothes and am 40 soon so would have loved a new outfit. These few hours to hit the shops were strategically planned - believe me

Literally feel like shooting myself. I used to be so good at style and clothes, and appeared put together and a bit 'on trend'

Now I have no idea what suits me. Kept catching myself in the mirror - just look like a fat frumpy mess.

Suddenly things that I thought looked good now make me look dreadful. I used to have gorgeous hair that was thick and in a sort of shaggy beachy wave style. It just looks a mess and it seems to be thinning out and lank.

Not sure what I'm posting for really, just feeling grumpy that I always assumed I'd have a fabulous time turning 40, and actually I just want to go and live in a cave.

I've ordered this as I'm hoping that the black side panels with help to slim me down, the fit and flare style balances my boobs and gives the illusion of a waist and hips. Fit and flare and skater styles are generally my go to style!

I love those petty boots. I've been eyeing them up for ages.

margaritasbythesea · 08/11/2016 12:42

That's a very flattering shape buster. I've got a knitted dress like that and its ace.

I like the oasis top too.

Liking three things in a day. Phew. Too much for me. Am if shopping this afternoon though so wish me luck.

I did do Cos yes - ended up looking like an androgynous person who performs laboratory tests.

Arf!

That's what ALL Cos clothing looks like to me!

BabyGanoush · 08/11/2016 13:03

Op - have you tried Mint Velvet?
Order online via top cash back with a code and try on at home so you can mix with stuff you have and take your time.
Coated leggings/skinny jeans with longer tops and scarves

Chocolateteabag · 08/11/2016 14:04

Mint velvet looks like they would go with your San Edelman boots and Louise Rednapp style wish??

fiorentina · 08/11/2016 21:19

This is Louise's fashion blog if it helps a bit of inspiration. www.astylealbum.com/

I bet though that you didn't look that bad. The sudden autumn weather is perhaps not making anyone glow or feel amazing, keep trying some new ideas.
