Soft boys' trousers with those elastic-and-buttons internal waistbands?

DS(8) is very slim waisted. He also likes really comfy trousers (not jeans, chinos, cords etc. but joggers/leggings kinds of things). Drawstring waists on joggers don't really work and this kind of trousers doesn't have loops for belts.. School trousers are fine because they have those elastic-and-buttons inside to adjust the waist size. He has one pair of leggings kind of things with this arrangement, that we just happened to find in TXMaxx but of course there was only one of them. Does anyone else happen to know where you can buy soft comfy trousers with these waistbands? At the moment he's mostly wearing age 5 joggers then end just below his knees!

My kids are similar. Have you tried primark and sainsbury's? Not sure for his age but they do do them for younger children.

I can't answer your question but I have the same problem with my 7 year old ds. The only joggers that I've found that are any good are the m&s ones they sell in multi packs. The drawstrings actually seem to work unlike the fake ones most joggers seem to have nowadays.

DSS had a couple of pairs of soft trousers with adjustable waist but they were from Hugo Boss, not sure if you want to spend that much i wouldn't but the might be what you're looking for.

Decathlon is great for slim children ( maybe because French children are generally thinner than British ones) lots of sporty clothes, no horrible prints, and lots of soft fabrics. My ds lives in decathlon shorts all year round.

I just recently got some for my similar lad from Tesco. They are chinos I think, but not heavy fabric. He doesn't like jeans so I do understand what you're looking for.

Thanks. I haven't tried Sainsburys or Primark but I'm not hugely hopeful as I think they probably need to be pricier brands (as it must cost more to insert these kinds of waistbands).

Even ones with proper drawstrings don't seem to work - he complains the string is either too tight & cuts in or they fall down when he jumps.

I have had some luck, Cabbage, for my slightly less ludicrously slim-waisted older DS with John Lewis own brand joggers. They are definitely slimmer cut than Tescos and have proper drawstrings (and some of the colours are on sale today - just got a pair of pale blue ones for £7). But they just fall down on my younger one. Might be worth a try?

Vertbaudet used to be good for these.

Buy the trousers you like, cut two slits in the waistband and use this stuff threaded through. I put just one button and secure the other end. Takes 20 minutes.

Vertbaudet do three hip widths on some of their styles. It's a godsend as my son is sooooo skinny but average height. I think they call it slim fit.

I think Polarn o Pyret leggings still have these buttons for that age - the age 4-6 ones do anyway.

Zara have a few different options, I had to buy a pair for my ds in place of school trousers. They weren't cheap though.

I have avoided joggers for the same reasons as you, but found that the H&M joggers do have a draw string waistband that works quite well.

Zara is great for my skinny 8 year old... 'Seemed plush trousers' are as soft as joggers and the drawstring isn't needed. Great for weekends. £16.99.

I didn't get the chinos as I needed grey for school but I saw them in store and they seemed soft and stretchy. I'm planning to get some as a smarter alternative to joggers for both my boys.

Gap khakis are soft and have adjustable waists. The sainsburys trousers we've had (usually corduroy) have all had adjustable waists.
DS wears boden tartan baggies, which cost £££ but last forever and are very soft and comfy. They are only drawstring waist though, so sometimes I have to put a dart in each side for my DS, often not though, as he is quite short, so he wears smaller than age size.

My teen has always been very slim. He's mostly had gap khakis. Hand-me-downs were a Godsend when he was younger as they came pre-softened!

Gap or Boden seem to be the only places I can find comfortable trousers / joggers for my 8 year old.
