Boots for a summer wedding

I'm going to a wedding in th end of June in Granada (very hot) and don't know what to wear. My problem is that I hate my legs (with a passion) they're too skinny from the knee down, completely shapeless, with calves not defined iyswim. They're not in proportion wih my thighs and I think I just look horrible in skirts unless.... I'm wearing boots. Are there summer boots acceptable for a wedding or should I just think of an alternative outfit? Last year went to a wedding and wore a knee length dress with sandals, but looking at the pictures am not happy with it at all...

What do you think about the long skirt in the coast website? Short ones look so much smarter don't they ? And would you wear flat shoes with it? Looks a bit boho, doesn't it?

Yes, I think finding out what type of wedding it is is the priority. Nothing worse than being overdressed... Worse than underdressed imo.

Yes - definitely get more info on what other people are likely to be wearing, if you can. I think some sort of heel would be better, if you can - maybe a wedge if you're not generally very good with heels (I'm not, but am training myself). But I'd get the dress first.

I'm useless with heels. Hate them. Annoyingly they make you look so much taller and thiner and elegant and corporate and in control...

Try on some wedges - I haven't managed to wear heels at all in the past, but I find wedges really stable and comfortable. And you're right - they do make you feel more powerful (or is that just me).

NONE of the dresses linked here would go with anything other than heels im afraid

LawdyMissTutter · 07/02/2007 17:05

if you are only happy wearing flats then imho you have to wear trousers

i really think the right pair, with a delicate top, would be perfect for a summer wedding

haven't got time to look right now as have to organise ds's tea but will return...

Sorry, I sounded a bit against heels but will wear them. Even if I go for trousers. Have to go as well; can't believe I spent most of my day at work mumsnetting..... Thanks everyone

I just can't keep away...

a full-length dress can work with ballet flats in a metallic colour, or an embroidered silk or something, but you have to stand up really straight as they don't give you the shape that heels do.
