Are these boots awful? Help me decide!

DP bought me a pair of boots. Completely random purchase, lovely gesture BUT these are so painfully not my style. He bought a pair of boots for himself and decided I needed a pair too, bless him. I don't even know if they're acceptable or just completely awful.
What are your thoughts: clicky link
If they are acceptable, what the hell do I wear them with?

I have them. They are so comfy. I got compliments on them when I wore them last winter. They still look brand new because I use protective spray on them.

PerspicaciaTick · 03/10/2016 01:07

They are gorgeous. I have some Timberland boots and they are lush. Make me happy every time I wear them - it is one of the things to look forward to when autumn arrives.

EnidButton · 03/10/2016 01:10

They look alright. Depends what you'll be wearing them for.

Picture the scene...middle of Winter, freezing cold, ground a bit slippy with ice and a few flakes of snow in the air. Chunky jumper, jacket, skinnies, scarf, hat. Popping out to buy more mince pies or something.

Perfect boots for that kind of thing.

EnidButton · 03/10/2016 01:11

That 'alright' is a very positive one btw.

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 03/10/2016 01:12

I like them a lot. I might buy them myself.

Ginkypig · 03/10/2016 01:44

Get them in the post to me. I love them!

Amethyst81 · 03/10/2016 02:52

They look very practical but they would be too clumpy for me, I would feel mannish in them. I've got to say my DH would probably pick the same thing for me.

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay · 03/10/2016 03:49

Love them. Jumper dress, thick tights and boots will look fab.

fulltothebrimwithloveliness · 03/10/2016 03:55

I thought they were going to be awful but I love those boots! I think they might be waterproof too. I was trying to find them in tan last year but sadly my wide size 8s wouldn't even fit in the first part of the shoe! I ended up with another pair of timberlands and they are my go to winter boots, love them .Lucky you!

NantucketNightbird · 03/10/2016 06:33

I have very similar ugg boots (not sure of the name). They are brilliant on freezing days, and honestly look fine with dresses and thick tights. I'm jealous I wish my dh would buy me some slippers let alone boots Grin

3Eggses · 03/10/2016 06:43

I was expecting something hideous but they're lovely. I like a chunky biker boot and I like to be warm. Off to buy self a pair...

BikeRunSki · 03/10/2016 07:41

Further to previous post, I have some Timberland Earthkeepers ankle boots, which still look great after 2 winters. Superb quality.

whitesklyer · 03/10/2016 08:25

love them, what a lovely gesture by your boyfriend. lucky girl

AngelicCurls · 03/10/2016 08:26

I have these in tan. V comfy, really warm and I think look ok with skinnies and jumper. They are amazing in the snow/ice as well-no slipping at all, brilliant for Yorkshire winters so perfect for Scottish winters!

Limurz · 03/10/2016 08:34

Classic biker style boots. What's not to like? Love them with skirts or skinnys. I would definitely buy these.

Spudlet · 03/10/2016 08:37

I like them. They'd look great with thick tights and a jumper dress. Send them to me if you don't want them! Grin

Bambambini · 03/10/2016 08:41

I like them but can see they're not for everyone. You could keep them for really cold weather and winter walks etc though, they'll last for years.

agapanthii · 03/10/2016 09:05

I too think they are a great pair of boots! Lucky you!

Thanks everyone. I'm keeping them, decided!!! I might have bought a couple bits of chunky knitwear to wear with them Blush

Meercat2 · 03/10/2016 16:35

I love them! Especially as other pp have said, skinny jeans or tights

Bambambini · 03/10/2016 17:08

You shouldn't have to break in boots like that though - they should be comfortable.

Saying that, plasters on the bits that are rubbing. I always carry a few in my bag.

WatchingFromTheWings · 03/10/2016 17:16

I like them! I'd wear them with jeggings or leggings.

Sallystyle · 03/10/2016 17:28

Love them. Have a pair very similar, but with fur on the outside (just the top)

Ditsy4 · 03/10/2016 17:36

I really like them. My DH would never do that. You lucky thing.
