I don't know anyone in RL, that is this mythgical, celebrity size.
Are there any on here?

And I always think , where do people that size buy their clothes? Apart from in Mothercare?

Asda, according to The Indie on Sunday.

BuffysMum · 06/02/2007 17:43

I were size 0 gap jeans (ie american 0, UK 4 I think?) my waist is def not a 0, a just have non existent hips and am only 5'1" so am in proportion really........

MrsBadger · 06/02/2007 17:45

Now is a US size 0 a UK size 4?

because I have two skirts from Gap that were tagged 'UK 4' but can only imagine they seriously messed up the labelling and meant they were a US 4 (ie a UK 8).

Even so, I am def not a UK 8 round the hips so something else must have gone wrong too...

Anyway, in answer to your q, No.

hana · 06/02/2007 17:46

my sister is
she is small , bout 5 1 like buffysmum - she isnt dreadfully skinny, she looks just right !!

SmileysPeople · 06/02/2007 17:47

Asda do size 0 clothes?

I don't know why this should interest me really,I can't see it being an issue for me anytime soon

My MIL is US size 0/Uk size 4
Asda would be good, as last time i bought her a top for 11/12 yr old girls.
She's 5'2"

Twiglett · 06/02/2007 17:55

why on earth would anyone aspire to being a size 0

yuk

Piffle · 06/02/2007 17:55

I was when I was an underweight 12 yr old
my friend is 5ft 7 weighs 7 stone 4lbs, is naturally very very thin and she is a still just a size 6-8 and seems very very skinny.
Shudder at how skinny a real size 0 must appear

mythumbelinas · 06/02/2007 18:00

My MIl always goes on how everybody is fatter then her, but IMHO i think she looks awful. She does eat, but very slowly.

Hillary · 06/02/2007 18:07

I'm a size 4

Asda do size 4 now (size 4 here is a size 0 in USA)

twelveyeargap · 06/02/2007 18:17

I think being a UK size 4 at 5ft 1 is most likely in proportion (if very slim).

The "Great Size Zero" debate is mainly about unhealthy models/ actresses being too skinny. Any model who is over 5ft 7in (aren't they all?) can't realistically be smaller than a UK 8 without being unhealthy. In fact, even that is probably too skinny.

Remember Eva Longoria in a Desperate Housewives episode, bemoaning a double zero not fitting? She's the titchiest star around. She's only 5ft 1in according to Wikipedia, so although she's very skinny, she doens't look unhealthy to me. She's shorter than some kids (including my 11 year old), so it's no great surprise that she's a size zero/ UK 4.

Hillary · 06/02/2007 18:23

I'm 5.7" I don't think the models are too skinny, they're just thinner than regular people. I don't think I'm unhealthy

Hilary I am 5'7 and am an 8/10. My GP says I am seriously underweight and have a BMI of 17.5 which is classed as underweight. So I would say you definately are.

I know how hard it is thought when people have a go all the time, I eat whatever I want, whenever I want, but I do exercise regularly. People tend to think you eat lettuce and vomit after every meal

LawdyMissTutter · 06/02/2007 18:27

my ankles are deffo size zero

Gobbledigook · 06/02/2007 18:28

mosschops - I'm 5'6 and an 8-10 and there is now way I could be described as 'underweight'! Not sure of my BMI though.

No desire to be a size '0' (she says, togged up ready for high impact aerobics class.....)

ItsMeMellowma · 06/02/2007 18:29

I used to be a size 6/8 UK and I am 5.8". I was most definately under-weight!

twelveyeargap · 06/02/2007 18:33

Well, there are exceptions to every rule. If you eat healthy food and enough of it and don't overexercise and just happen to have a tiny frame, then good luck to you.

If you're a size 4 and your ribs stick out like a xylophone and you can keep an apple in the hollow around your collar bone, then you're probably unhealthy.

mosschops30 · 06/02/2007 18:34

gobbledigook go to bmi calculator in google and put in your height and weight

Hillary · 06/02/2007 18:34

Hi mosschops30 I think my BMI was 15 not sure what its supposed to be, I have two energetic babies so would say I get to excersise alot. I eat well - don't eat any sweet or sugary things or saturated fats, I just eat fruit and veg.

Gobbledigook · 06/02/2007 18:37

my bmi is in the healthy weight range!

DarrellRivers · 06/02/2007 18:41

I can wear Gap size 0 but am really a small size 8 perhhaps stretching to 6 so really think Gap make their sizes too large.(am 5"3)
However on day when bought size 0 skirt, did spend all day going, I'm a size 0, i'm a size 0, it felt good,
I am thin but not unhealthily so, only really got thin after having children.
Main thing that irritates me is the huge discrepancy in sizes in shops.Means nothing
