With me I buy things and end up saving them..not sure what I'm saving them for.
Almost like if I wear it ..I won't like it anymore and won't be special anymore
Anyone else? Or am I just mad

Depends on the garment. Obvs if its occasion wear I save it but mostly I throw things on as soon as they are bought. Love new clothes.

LifeIsGoodish · 02/10/2016 14:54

Well I'm wearing the shirt that arrived yesterday, but the coat that arrived with it is in the wardrobe, waiting for...

...cold weather!

Louisajohnson224 · 02/10/2016 14:56

I bought a lovely new jumper and dying to wear it but keep thinking il save it for best.
Might just wear it tomorrow as I don't really go anywhere for "best" ha ha

Unless it's something weather dependent I return things if I've not worn them within two weeks after buying them. The new knitwear hanging in my wardrobe feels like it's taunting me!

NantucketNightbird · 02/10/2016 15:05

Yes I always do, I had a dress delivered yesterday so I changed out of what I had on and put the new dress on Grin.

panad317 · 02/10/2016 15:08

I wait too, sometimes I wait too long though and end up not wearing it.
Unless I buy something I need, like a new pair of jeans which I see more as a necessity!

SallyR0se · 02/10/2016 15:10

I remember Trinny & Susannah saying not to keep things for best as you'll never wear them. I'm a sucker for it, I have two tiers of clothes; everyday hacking around & naice (and fat / thin). Funny, folk always compliment my supposedly second rate stuff 👗

TeenyfTroon · 02/10/2016 15:13

No, I hang on to them for a bit. Till they've sort of absorbed a bit of TeenfTroon-ness and they're really mine. God only knows why. How stupid can you get? Grin

f1fan2015 · 02/10/2016 15:18

Ah thought this was going to be a do you wear new clothes without washing them first thread Grin

I only buy things to wear every day except for going out clothes which are saved for the right occasion. No clothes saved for best - life is too short Smile

rightknockered · 02/10/2016 16:03

I keep trying them on for a few days, and then eventually wear them when I feel that they are truly mine Grin

Dulcimena · 02/10/2016 16:10

Usually, yes, and if I haven't reached for them within a week then I probably won't wear them, so back they go.

However, I've bought a few autumn/winter things recently and it hasn't been cold enough to wear them yet.

burnishedsilver · 02/10/2016 16:28

If I don't wear things straight away they end up sitting in my wardrobe, unworn, waiting for the right occasion. I have fallen into this trap many times so now I am trying to only buy things that I will wear straight away.

Poocatcherchampion · 02/10/2016 16:33

Yes ive adopted a take them back after a week or so mentality. I am living for the moment

Floisme · 02/10/2016 16:57

I'm the same, op. I'm trying to train myself out of saving for best but it's bloody hard. I blame my lovely, dearly departed mum.

Nearlyadoctor · 02/10/2016 17:00

I always save stuff for best.... Although that's often because I like to buy stuff early on in the season and chances are the weather is right to wear what I've bought for a while. Ie: summer dress in March , chunky knits in August.

Nearlyadoctor · 02/10/2016 17:00

Isn't right!

Louisajohnson224 · 02/10/2016 17:06

My gran is to blame.
She always says you save that one for best ..don't bother wasting lovely clothes to sit around the house or go to tesco.

Yes. This is the bane of my wardrobe and I wish I could overcome it.
I put it down to a childhood spent in poverty combined with a strongly developed lack of self esteem.

thissismyusername · 02/10/2016 17:17

I meant to say "No!"

margaritasbythesea · 02/10/2016 17:39

If I don't wear them straight away I take them back as I clearly don't like them much.

rightknockered · 02/10/2016 17:53

Im guilty of buying stuff and then feeling as though I don't really deserve them. It takes me a while to build up to wearing stuff

moomoo222 · 02/10/2016 17:56

Same as pp's - if I don't wear it within a week (unless occasion or weather dependent) then it goes back, or if it was expensive and I shouldn't have bought it then I grapple with my conscience for a while and either give in and wear it or send it back!

dudsville · 02/10/2016 18:04

I don't keep anything for best, but might save something for appropriate occasion/weather, etc.

RebelandaStunner · 02/10/2016 18:50

Can't wait to wear them asap.
I used to be a saver then realised how silly that was.

FinallyHere · 02/10/2016 18:52

I know my colours and style, so if i ever see anything thats 'perfect' then i buy it, sometimes have to wait for the right weather before i can actually use it. No concept of keeping things for best.
