Talk me through all saints leather jackets

zippyswife · 01/10/2016 14:04

I've wanted to treat myself to a leather jacket from all saints. Now I see they have 20% off and don't know which to pick.

I was thinking cargo but now I don't know. If you have one which one and how do you wear it/what with?

I'm 40 slim 8/10 tall. I generally wear jeans converse t-shirts (mum uniform).

Great Laquila! My cargo came and I love it. It fits perfectly done up although I now wonder whether I should be trying it in the 8 too as it doesn't look fitted when it's undone. And I do like the look of it done up. Any thoughts?

I love the muted hardware- that was my main reason for picking it.

How on earth did you get them so quickly? Envy I'm wavering on my choice of Papin now. I like the shape of the Cargo a lot but the distressed leather wasn't my thing. Bit late now! 🙄

zippyswife · 02/10/2016 20:34

I think the Papin looks lovely! The shape looks beautiful. More slim fitting than the cargo. Tough decisions though!

Need to go in and try them all really. Looking forward to it arriving though. Is the leather really soft? I have a bag from there and it's like butter.

zippyswife · 02/10/2016 22:23

It is so soft. You won't be dissapointed.

John Lewis, Enid! The wonder that is free Click&Collect delivery to Waitrose 😃

Both are v soft - lovely and supple. Zippy, I think if you were happy with the 10 when you tried it then don't let me sway you! I can see that the Cargo in a looser fit (undone) would look great on the right person, but I need to it to be a bit more fitted. Just wish it was half an inch longer though!

AyeAmarok · 02/10/2016 22:42

This thread needs photos!

I love All Saints leather jackets but never tried one on in case I couldn't take it off and found myself at the till handing over my credit card.

EnidButton · 03/10/2016 00:00

Laquila Alas we don't have a Waitrose. Sad Have to be patient. It won't be here until Wednesday.

zippyswife · 03/10/2016 22:13

So I went to an all saints today and tried the 8. While it did up nicely with just a t-shirt underneath I think I need the 10 for jumpers etc. So I'm sticking with my 10. As I was there I tried on pretty much all the others. They are lovely but I'm happy with the cargo!

zippyswife Glad you were happy with your choice and style. My sizing down tip isn't for all. I'm very flat chested so don't need that extra "out front" which is probably the issue, especially if you want to do it up regularly.

A leather jacket is perfect for Autumn, lets hope this mild weather continues so you can wear for as long as possible!

PNGirl · 04/10/2016 10:38

I think I might have been able to squeeze into a 12 if I didn't have 32E/34DDs! Wore my Bales today over a t shirt and thin cardi and it was perfect, not restrictive to drive in so it really depends how you want to wear it. I like to layer.

EnidButton · 04/10/2016 13:03

I like to layer and although I have a small frame and my boobs aren't huge (28/30 FF), I do need a bit of room in the chest area or it looks a bit squashed.

The jumpers I bought last week have turned out to be rubbish so I'm hoping I'll love my new jacket when it arrives.

zippyswife · 04/10/2016 14:02

I've had a u turn... I'm sending the cargo back. It just doesn't look right on me somehow (no matter how much I want it to). I don't think I can pull off the distressed look. so. Back to the drawing board. If you see any dark blue/navy/grey leather jackets let me know Blush.

OP posts:
EnidButton · 04/10/2016 21:08

Shock You sure sure?

It was the distressed look that put me off. I can look distressed enough as it is. Grin It can look very cool though.

zippyswife · 04/10/2016 21:26

Yes I also look distressed enough! I'm sure it looks fab on (most) others but sadly not on me. I will reluctantly return. I'm thinking maybe it's leather jackets that just don't suit me! Confused

OP posts:
EnidButton · 04/10/2016 22:04

Noo! Are you sure you're not just having a confidence blip? Have you tried it on with different things? I like a leather jacket over dresses to toughen them up a bit.

I kind of want you to keep it now and embrace the cool distressed-ness.

Laquila · 04/10/2016 23:31

Oh noooo Zippy! You're putting me off now! I haven't sent the Bales back yet - was thinking of trying it on one last time before sending it back tomorrow. I'll have to make a decision though - I need the bloody refund!!

It's not the distressedness (deffo a word) that's giving me (brief) pause - it's the fit. If it were a teeny bit longer and came in a size 13, I'd be 100% in love 😁 As it is, I'm pretty sure I'll keep the 12, as I know I'll e not wearing it open - I'll just have to get my parka out if it's cold, and it warrants doing up!

LazyDoll · 04/10/2016 23:49

I have the Cargo - birthday pressie from DH last month. Love it!! Wear it pretty much every day apart from when that darn sun reappears and I feel I'm pushing it in leather!!😳😀

zippyswife · 05/10/2016 06:27

Don't let me put you off laqiila. Seriously I am not someone to listen to. It's just that I can't pull it off/it washes me out. I spied one of the mums on the school run with it and she looks amazing. So I think it's just me.

On another note (and I fear I am being a bit too hopeful here) what's the chance they'd exchange it for something of the same current value??

OP posts:
Floisme · 05/10/2016 07:00

I tried on the Cargo thinking I would love it and it didn't look nearly as good on me as I'd expected. I wasn't sure why but I think it was the distressing. Nothing suits everyone.

Baukjen have got one in navy: www.baukjen.com/uk/shop/baukjen/jackets/everyday-biker-jacket-caviar-black.htm

zippyswife · 05/10/2016 07:08

That is beautiful but my budget doesn't stretch that far.

I really like www.allsaints.com/women/leather/allsaints-wyatt-zip-biker/?colour=3969&category=25

But I don't know what the likelihood is that they'd exchange it. The value is the same but I bought the cargo in the sale?

OP posts:
Floisme · 05/10/2016 07:14

Sorry I was thinking All Saints and Baukjen were a similar price.

I would have thought they'd only exchange it for something that's the same value to what you actually paid. But worth a try - they can only say no!

zippyswife · 05/10/2016 07:16

Thanks. There's not much in it but enough that I couldn't afford it. If that makes sense.

I also love this

www.hush-uk.com/m/womenswear/collections_1/leather_1/onyx_leather_jacket_grey_leather.htm

But it's pre order 6-7 weeks. That's a long time to wait!

OP posts:
Floisme · 05/10/2016 08:12

That's nice but I wouldn't wait 6 weeks - it'll probably be too cold for jackets by then! But sometimes they arrive quicker than that - do you have to pay with the order?
