I'd wear it - in the same way as you suggested. It's funky, not frumpy.

colditz · 05/02/2007 20:09

Ahem.

cannot get wonderbra in my size.

See, I am chunky - size 16 to 18 - but am also confident that this dress doesn't make me look porkier than normal, and I have fairly sensitive antenna to that.

But also, the dress I have is darker than the oine shown, and the pattern isn't exactly floral. more swirly.

it is fantatsic and would look lovely with seamed tights and round toed vintage shoes

ILoveDolly · 05/02/2007 20:12

NO its cool - you could wear it over jeans or with black opaque tights and it would look great. ime dh will always express horror over any floral or coloured clothes but then like them if they turn out to be flattering - this is a wrap dress so i'm sure will look v sexy when on. make sure you wear it with a nice big necklace tho to draw attention to your cleavage

quadrophenia · 05/02/2007 20:13

is that sally strawberry?

brandnewhelsy · 05/02/2007 20:13

Well I'm 5 ft 2 and a half, size 14 - 16, no waist, and I've got one in almost exactly the same style but with black and white spots and every time I wear it someone asks me if I've lost weight, and DH grabs me and asks who I'm meeting in work today! If it looks bad you can always sell it on Ebay

Yarrow · 05/02/2007 20:19

its nice- buy it! any way Beauty is looking nice for yourself, not attracting other people. (thats wot it said int papers anyway).

colditz · 05/02/2007 20:19

L:OL I might get drunk and post a pic

OP posts:
colditz · 05/02/2007 20:20

I have bought it - from a shop. i am wearing it now, it was from QS ("the new Primark", according to their website)

OP posts:
brandnewhelsy · 05/02/2007 20:29

Oh, I thought you wanted to buy that one from Ebay. Concentrate, Helsy. This Wonderbra's too b**dy tight, it's squeezing my brain Go on then, another glass of wine, send a piccie! So Dh has seen it on and still thinks it looks hideous?

colditz · 05/02/2007 20:30

Yes, he says "The pattern is horrible, i don't even know why you're asking me, you'll do as you please anyway"

He's right too.

I bought a patterned silk wrap dress to wear with black linen trousers to go to a dinner with a government minister a while ago, and the day of the dinner (I was VERY nervous), I asked DH if he was sure it looked ok and he said "It looks like you're wearing your dressing gown over your trousers" , so I went out and bought this spotty dress instead and now he thinks I'm having an affair when I wear it - so I wear it lots .

colditz · 05/02/2007 20:36

Yess, whenever dp says "Where are you goi9ng dressed like that?"

I wear it until it falls to bits

OP posts:
quadrophenia · 05/02/2007 20:56

my dp actually refused to walk with me today, honestly he was that mortified by my appearance!! I was complemented three times, this am by people who were astounded that i have the guts and was twice told that only i could get away with it! So ner to my dp

I was wearing turquoise tights, my new sugar boots and a flowery dress from primark but hey, I thought I looked ok!

colditz · 05/02/2007 21:32

I am trying to load a photo of it onto my profile...

OP posts:
colditz · 05/02/2007 21:33

Just be aware, that the porky appearance is the fault of PIES, not that dress.

OP posts:
colditz · 05/02/2007 21:35

Ok, no it won't.

OP posts:
MamaCampbellBlack · 05/02/2007 21:35

colditz · 05/02/2007 21:44

It's up.

OP posts:
MamaCampbellBlack · 05/02/2007 21:45

I think that looks great colditz - you don't look like a barrel.

colditz · 05/02/2007 21:47

It is Very Loud though. I still like it. I still think it was a bargain too!

OP posts:
fireflyfairy2 · 05/02/2007 21:55

It looks great!!

Not barrell shaped IMHO

colditz · 05/02/2007 21:57

LO(L am cunningly trying to stick hip out and tuck waist in, but I am a naturally graceless person.

You should see me dancing, it is an Education

quadrophenia · 05/02/2007 22:14

colditz we have a similar build and I would deffo wear it, it looks fab similar but different colours to the dress am wearing in one of my profile pics

soph28 · 05/02/2007 22:17

I think it's quite cool and would look good on the right person- maybe with jeans. My DH would definitely hate it. I wish I could get away with wearing that sort of thing.
