The black one with the orange lid which used to be the blue one they rebranded?

Can't find any in Boots,Tesco or Superdrug.

Hyperventilating ever so slightly...

Sainsbury's has it on offer

Smidge001 · 22/07/2018 18:41

Thanks - can you let us know if he thinks it stops the itch?
I'm usually OK with a different shampoo for a couple of washes, but after that it just gets itchy so quickly and the only thing that sorted it was the elvive one. It was like magic and fixed it straight away. Really hope the one you've linked does the same job

mwolf · 26/07/2018 01:21

Hey All.

I came across this thread via a Google search. I understand how difficult it is when big companies stop using the same formula in their products.

I have 2 x 400ml L'Oreal Elvive For Men Anti-Dandruff Intense Shampoo (black & orange bottle contains Active Selenium S).
They've discontinued this shampoo as I can't find it anywhere not even on eBay.

It's only 2 bottles but I'm all for helping someone out.

Mamaohana · 26/07/2018 06:48

Smidge the Head and Shoulders clinical solutions works for me when previously only the Elvive one worked. It’s a tiny bottle though so need to use sparingly!

Smidge001 · 26/07/2018 07:07

Thanks mamaohana. Ive recently had my hair cut shorter - sounds as though that will be handy given the size of the h&s bottle!

DeeCeeUK · 23/08/2018 10:26

I’m well and truly gutted and so disappointed in L’Oreal for discontinuing this. I have found another shampoo that contains selenium and used it for the first time when I last washed my hair. Head and Shoulders make it and I found it near all the TGel stuff in Tesco.

Joanna755 · 03/09/2018 21:27

I have found a shampoo that contains selenium s and I have been using it for a few months now and it seems to work. The shampoo is called head and shoulders clinically proven solution.
After my loriel elvive anti dandruff ran out I tried others and went through the ingredients of the L’Oréal and the selenium s seems to word for me.

DeeCeeUK · 04/09/2018 08:11

Hi, do you still have these bottles by any chance?

DeeCeeUK · 04/09/2018 08:27

Sorry that was to mwolf

Simonwhittlr · 11/09/2018 18:18

After an extensive search I have found a product by Vichy. It’s called DERCOS and has the Selinium (D) S active ingredient.

IT WORKS AS WELL AS THE ELVIVE. I found it on amazon

3 days in and I’m dandruff free again.
Hope this helps!😁

CompoundKid · 20/09/2018 20:05

Yep, can't find this anywhere either. Asda stopped selling it a little while back but I'd previously managed to buy it from Boots Online as part of their 3 for 2 offer.

Absolute nightmare, its the only shampoo that worked for me as other anti-dandruff shampoos just ripped my head apart.

My doctor recommended it, probably around five to six years ago now, and i've not had a problem since. I believe it was the selenium-sulphate that did the trick, but Head & Shoulders also has that and only ever seems to make the problem worse!

After doing some research, this looks like it might be a suitable alternative; the colour is really similar, which may be a good sign.

www.vichy.co.uk/dercos-anti-dandruff-shampoo

Seems to be out of stock from their website though....

Simonwhittlr · 20/09/2018 21:28

I have the Vichy one. It works - but it’s not for everyday use (in my opinion ) was great for the first 3 days. But after a week my scalp itches (no dandruff though!) I have moved to twice a week. Will post if that works.

You can get the Vichy on Amazon.

DaisyStock · 05/10/2018 15:56

I have asked loreal to bring it back at the web link below at Ask a Question. If more people ask, maybe they will bring it back. Worth a try.

I'm as gutted as you lot. Why get rid of something that works so good, If it was due to low sales the marketing team failed in making people aware how good it was, I ended up importing some from abroad but now everywhere is sold out. But managed to get some from: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/123473353277. But it doesn't look like Elvive is going to do another Selenium S product.

Kazzie2381 · 07/01/2019 09:41

They are selling it on amazon pantry

Kazzie2381 · 07/01/2019 10:06

I've just called the loreal helpline and it has been discontinued but was told super drug and boots have some stock online hth

HValenti · 21/03/2019 11:34

It was for me the only that was working too... Even other products with selenium were not able to stop the excess (in fact) dandruff!
Now, i was made to try others. I have firstly tried the new L'oreal the outcome was awful!
I have found only the Head and Shoulders Clinical Strength (Clinical Solutions is not recommended for extended time use, that's why it is so small bottle), with regular use, works for me now. The outcome does not last if you stop usage, as it used to be with L'oreal, but until now it is the only one that works. So I have made a big stock, just to be sure and I go this way.
That's for everyone with the same problem.... F_ off L'oreal!

Feelingfifty · 13/04/2019 14:36

Can I resurrect this thread please? What have l'Oreal done?! I've got the green phytoclear and the men's blue bottle but neither are working. I've relied on this stuff for years so does anyone know if they've changed the formula? Also, anyone found alternatives please? I'm desperate!

RhubarbTea · 22/04/2019 10:54

I just used up the last of mine and am also now desperate, I'm wondering about trying one of the alternatives mentioned upthread but don't know if they will be as good. Gutted they have discontinued the orange one Sad Whyyyyyyy.

dadandmum · 22/04/2019 11:28

I might of found some more, it seems to suggest it has the Active Selenium, and this is for 6 bottles if the description is correct.

MyNameWasTakenDammit · 01/05/2019 17:45

Hi guys and gals, I’m selling a brand new 400ml bottle on eBay, listing is up for the next 10 days:
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Loreal-Intense-Shampoo-400ml-EXTREMELY-RARE/192904200400?hash=item2ce9fc80d0:g:GjMAAOSwcrdcyaGu

MyNameWasTakenDammit · 11/05/2019 15:34

Sold for £21 total! Hope someone from L’Oréal sees this and brings the range back

tot2 · 21/06/2019 10:00

The active ingredient you're looking for is selenium sulphide. The Elvive and Selsun products have been discontinued. Head and Shoulders, before you yell it doesn't work, have brought out a "Clinically Proven" range that has what you're looking for. Sorry it is more expensive but I've been looking for ages and it's all I can find. It's available in most supermarkets and in Boots. Only available as a 130ml bottle at the moment but it looks like a 250ml is on the cards.

MyNameWasTakenDammit · 27/06/2019 17:15

Good find tot2, bought some recently, will try out this weekend

CeriEds · 17/07/2019 16:18

OK after some research - I have suffered from Psoriasys for about 50 years! Always used Selsun 2.5% Sel Sulphide then moved on to lower concentrates such as Elvive 1% and for a while also Selsun Blue 1%.
All good as they work. Used it as shower gel to treat topical Psoriasys and its great. Then started to be difficult to buy so went to work.
Contacted L'Oreal they said difficulties with manufacture. OK, so why no Selsun. Sanofi, the UK distributers were quite coy - no real answer.
I emailled several times explaininmg that poss Millions of Psoriasys sufferers rely on the stuff. NO REPLY

Now you can still get Head And Shoulders Medicated shampoo containing selenium sulphide (1%) but it was £6.50 a (small) bottle.
Turns out that Proctor & Gamble have cornered the matrket on Selenium and have forced the others to give up production - all to force you and I to buy thier premium priced product.
Result a lot of people stopped using or could not get Selenium shampoo so even P&G decided that there was no market!
Very difficult to get Head and Shoulders with Sel Sulphide now and it will shortly be discontinued. So there - stupid (or evil) companies who care not a jot for thier customers.

Please feel free to share - ANYWHERE.
