Hi I am CoolToned and I'm an addict.

I have several leather jackets - they look very similar - and yet I catch myself looking at new ones online.

The first step is admitting that there is a problem.

Who else is with me?

Janet - ooh Balenciaga! I think I really should win the lottery soon...

I am currently eyeing a classic Schott. Has anyone had one? I have Schott but mine is the euro one, which is light and buttery soft. They say the American-made one has thicker heavier leather.

JanetStWalker · 05/09/2016 21:07

Ooh Schotts are the real deal aren't they, as in you could actually get on a bike and be protected? Very cool!

CoolToned · 05/09/2016 21:14

Yeah. I actually have BLK DNM which look similar to each other, and to Schott.

Now I am obsessing about a Diesel leather jacket that was up on sale in my size in a group buying site which I did not see and now sold out. :(

Can I join in as I have three Boden leather jackets, two black, one tan; one Next burgundy biker, a River Island biker and finally, a Gap biker. I luurrrvvee leather.

Will this thread get hijacked by vegans though?

ChinUpChestOut · 05/09/2016 22:32

SoyYo you mentioned upthread you had an orange suede biker wipes drool off chin where did you get that? And when? And how much? And do they have any left as I need one. Grin

SoyYo · 05/09/2016 23:22

chinup it was last seasons Boden and got it as amazing bargain in their sale, its actually the only "non Muubaa" out of the 5 I own and its surprisingly high quality, you might find it on ebay now, its a great shade and I get complimented whenever I wear it

cooltoned and janet I also own proper biker leather riding gear, DH is a Harley nut and we have a few in our garage...but proper biker jackets are a completely different beast at least to me from the fashion buttery leather ones.
I've just realised I've been wearing "proper leather biker" jackets well before they became a wardrobe staple and essential fashion basic.
I remember when we were kids messing about on bikes and some pubs would ban "leather jackets" , how times have changed! Grin

CoolToned · 05/09/2016 23:43

SoyYo - cool!!! I think I will envy your closet! But yeah, the ones I have a re mostly fashion buttery ones. I have two BLK DNM that look the same - one has a harder leather, one has a softer leather, but both nowhere as near as proper leather jacket ones.

My Schott is actually a very fashion-y leather one, complete with detachable borg collar :D

The Schott I am looking at now looks very similar to my BLK DNM (I think BLK DNM actually copied Schott not the other way around) so it's really insane for me to be lusting after it.

I only have one. How do you lot afford multiple jackets?

Mine wad £140 in a leather shop sale, its a proper biker jacket, fitted, but I only seem to wear it when I go out in the evening.

I feel it has a bit too much attitude for daytime.

Its also not very warm and its too fitted to wear much underneath.

I don't think I can pull off the coloured ones, but they are gorgeous.

bigbuttons · 06/09/2016 07:08

I am liking the Muubaa website, some bargains to be had there.
I am sorely tempted but can anyone talk to me about sizing?
I am small framed but sometimes I can be and 8 on top and very occasionally a 10. It really depends on the make. I also have a silly short torso, so very cropped jackets and tops don't give me body balance.
How do the Muubaas fit? Are they very true to size? They look quite cropped.
I would like to find a biker jacket that sits more on my hips rather than at the bottom of my back.Smile

PNGirl · 06/09/2016 07:23

The Mango ones aren't as nice as other expensive brands from a leather perspective. I have a brown one which is lovely but quite stiff. That said it was about 80 quid so you get what you pay for!

I've got 4 - an 8 year old black Oasis that I should probably move on, the Mango one, and 2 All Saints (black Bales and olive green Obika). I bought the All Saints ones in January and March; I've always wanted one as a holy grail jacket so I finally ponied up the cash then loved it so much I bought another. I think the itch is scratched for now, £550 later.

SoyYo · 06/09/2016 07:47

bigbuttons I'd say it's true to size but look at the sizing chart in their website and yes they're usually cropped as I'm a short arse (5'3") they sit just below my waist but not on my hips which I think it's perfect for me but again do look at the garment measurements for each style as they do vary. Also Brand Alley, and the outnet sell reduced Muubaas on a regular basis. I don't personally rate Brand Alley customer service but worth a look. Have a look at Asos too they seem to stock a lot of leather though not sure of quality. Massimo Dutti also do nice leather bikers and All Saints as said before.

wesail takes time to build a collection! Only worth it if you will wear often, if it's your personal style. Also I tend to buy at sale price as I like those in the £350+ bracket (only exception was Boden) so wait for sales to purchase but even then I can spend up to £250. As said before it's a cost per wear ratio and I wear mine all the time so worth it to me, I have returned those that I bought on impulse but weren't me and it's taken me a few years to amass my collection but to me they're timeless so worth the investment.

cool if you're obsessing about same colour, same style hoping to find "the" one rather than like me who likes to chop colours and to suede too (must admit style wise they're all pretty similar) then you might like to follow janet example and stay with what you have already or sell the lot and go for "the one"?
And thanks for your kind coment!Flowers

Mrs9C · 06/09/2016 09:53

I've only got one, but avidly looking for my second. I want to fine the one. Not cropped, not too much metalware (I like metalware, but for some reason it doesn't look right on me).
www.hobbs.co.uk/product/display?productID=0216-4389-3472L00&productvarid=0216-4389-3472L00-BLACK-12&refpage=search/results - I like the one on the model with the black hardware, unsure if it's like that or like the one in the photo.

www.jaeger.co.uk/leather-biker-jacket/571007V-00100-6.html?cgid=women-jackets - though I don't like exposed metal hardware, so won't be getting this!

www.allsaints.com/women/leather/allsaints-bales-biker/?colour=5&category=25 - would like to try this on in person, I like the look of it, though unsure about the neck...

www.allsaints.com/women/leather/allsaints-randall-biker/?colour=5&category=25 - I like the black hardware again, but the back isn't what I would like it to be.

Hence on my seemingly never ending search for 'the one'. Occasionally I find one, but it has a £1000 ++ price tag, well out of my budget.

SoyYo · 06/09/2016 11:28

mrs9c I love the All Saints but they would be too long for me model is 5'7" and they fall exactly where I like mine to finish (just below waist) but on me at 5'3" it would fall at lower hip which is why I always go for cropped styles which then end up in the right place
The Hobbs asymmetric one is very similar style to my Muubaas except mine have a smaller/not such a wide collar and I also have a collarless one (wearing today actually)
I agree I prefer little hardware only what's necessary I prefer understated and not too "fashion" looking
The Jaeger one looked good too.

Pngirl thanks for Mango heads up I did wonder how good the leather would be at such a bargain price point, I might pass then even though I love the colours available for Autumn

I'm at work and need to get on but later will see if I can find pics of my Muubaas and share

Mrs9C · 06/09/2016 13:14

Oooh please do share, must check them out.

Mrs9C · 06/09/2016 13:16

Tempted to send for this one to see what it's like, seeing it's easy enough to return. Next can be meh, but I liked the look of this in the magazine www.next.co.uk/g5498s6#936784

CoolToned · 06/09/2016 13:44

Tempted to order the Schott too, just to see how it looks in person. But really worried I might not want to send it back. :D

I had a leather bomber jacket as a teen. I look longingly at the leather jackets every autumn and never buy one. I cannot justify spending hundreds of pounds.

ElaeudanlaTeiteia · 06/09/2016 14:20

I have two Muubaas but don't find either of them especially soft. One of them I like and wear a lot, but no, wouldn't call it soft. The other one I'm not so keen on.

Also have a longer-line All Saints black jacker / coat, and that IS beautifully soft and gorgeous but has a bit more hardware on it than I'd like.

So still searching for the perfect one! Have one in darkest brown that I found on Ebay, no idea of brand, it is brilliant but now slightly too small since I gained weight

DavetheCat2001 · 06/09/2016 16:47

I have the All Saints Belvedere jacket in 'bitter' brown.

I got mine on eBay for about half the cost of a new one, and I really love it.

Hi again I'm very surprised to read Elau didn't find Muubaas soft, mine at least are really soft for the price point.
I'll check out the links in a mo, thanks for sharing your wonderful addiction!

For cool I feel your pain about falling in love with yet another beauty and being unable to return, I have returned around 4 and as I build my collection I find I can be more ruthless even if they're fab but don't suit "me" or it's not complete love.

So here is my pink Lyra, it's a very subtle pink almost nude, love it
