This is it. It fits nicely, it's a lovely colour and it was a bargain. But now I come to think about actually wearing it for a wedding, I have no ideas what to wear with it that won't look tedious and frumpy. It is crying out for nude courts, a pashmina and a fascinator - is there any way of escaping this??

I'm a size 12, with shoulder length red hair. I am awful at wearing heels but I think I will have to. I need a jacket maybe? Also some jewellery? A bag?

Suggestions for any of these would be very very very welcome. Also any reassurance that I haven't made a horrible horrible mistake and I can look young and pretty in it.....

I tried on a similar one in reiss but it was £££. So I got this one. But I don't like it as much at all and I'm sad 😢😢😢

You could use the dress and style it 1950's era, pin curls up hair do, if it was me I'd have a petticoat underneath to make it pop Smile and also wearing flats would match, baby doll pumps. X

Hair up like this, love the idea of a colour clash, I love coral colour lipstick when I dress in the style

It's a lovely dress OP. River Island have some nice orangey bags here and here.

sentia · 24/08/2016 19:24

I like turquoise with royal blue.

And I definitely agree with the shrug / cropped bolero option for a wedding. I wouldn't go matchy matchy, maybe a neutral bolero (navy?) and then bright shoes.

Oh also op, I think your red hair will go lovely with your new dress Smile

Thank you candle! I hope so!

Thank you all for the lovely ideas. I am tempted by a turquoise shrug, coral lipstick, a gangsta-style rose gold chunky chain choker and some shoes of some other colour. Maybe coral as it is my favourite. Or rose gold if I can find them. Or maybe silver shoes and necklace.

Have I got carried away? It's quite a relaxed wedding but the bride is one of the most serenely beautiful girls I know and although I don't know many of her friends (I am grooms family) I would imagine they are equally classy.....

Hmmm. That all sounds a bit busy, to me. Sorry! I am a firm believer in less is more though.

hollyisalovelyname · 24/08/2016 20:39

Lovely dress OP.
Get a pashmina to match and navy shoes and a navy bag or silver shoes and bag.
Try Clarks.

PersisFord · 24/08/2016 20:55

remin I fear you are right!! I'm a bit punch drunk with excitement about not having made a horrible mistake!

I'll sleep on it I think. My mind is boggling with orange shoes at the moment!!

Thanks again everyone!

drspouse · 24/08/2016 20:59

Ouchlego that's the colour scheme of the current Guide uniform.

gettingtherequickly · 24/08/2016 21:02

Love those orange shoes, short jacket with a nipped in waist in orange and hair up.

echelon · 24/08/2016 21:12

Indigo blazer

Persis, love your username! I did a double take ;)

BikeRunSki · 24/08/2016 21:34

Cubs wear green!!

I'd wear silver with that dress.

PersisFord · 24/08/2016 22:10

Could I wear these shoes? I have a white petticoat and a cream fur shrug (leftover from my wedding) as well, would they do?

The dress is v pretty. I've tried it on again and it does fit perfectly.

daily I thought I was being v sneaky with my username!

PersisFord · 24/08/2016 22:13

I am v unconvinced by the cream shrug by the way.....it seems a bit pushy to wear something from one's own wedding to someone else's.....

Can someone please explain what is naff about a pashmina? I was planning on wearing one to a wedding next month but might have to rethink!

OP I love your username too! I used to think Lesley and Owen's story was so romantic when I was younger ( still do Smile).

PersisFord · 24/08/2016 22:34

Awwww fellow Anne of green gables super fans!! Apparently there is a new series coming to Netflix....

I tried on a pashmina. I looked like I had run a marathon and they had run out of space blankets - kind of huddled. I don't think I was wearing it right!!!

OuchLegoHurts · 24/08/2016 23:00

usedtobe They just look so 'weddingy' and conservative...like when would you ever see anyone wearing a shawl around their shoulders in real life? I think they make any dress look mumsy.

burnishedsilver · 24/08/2016 23:03

Navy sandals, navy nails, yellow clutch bag.
