What's your favourite nail varnish brand?

I do love Nails Inc. It's pricier than I want to pay but it goes on well and lasts forever without chipping. I can't find the colour I want at the moment though, a matte salmon pink.

I have just bought a lovely colour by Rimmel but it needed 3 layers, doesn't look smooth on and has chipped within a couple of days (this is on my toes if it makes any difference!). I gave them a second chance because of the colour, the last one I bought went straight in the bin because it was like coloured water and would have needed about 10 coats to get even close to the colour in the bottle!

What brands do you use/would recommend?

Essence

Just5minswithDacre · 26/07/2016 23:29

OPI or Revlon. Revlon were the first to formulate a bendier lacquer and I still love them for it. 20th century nail varnishes were pretty crap.

MarklahMarklah · 26/07/2016 23:29

I like OPI - great colours and not too expensive.

Just5minswithDacre · 26/07/2016 23:30

(Rimmel are still stuck in 1991, recipe-wise, I think )

gaggiagirl · 26/07/2016 23:30

Nails Inc.
Miss sporty
The poundworld ones
Bourjois

All as good as each other.

wibblywobblytummytumtum · 26/07/2016 23:33

OPI and Essie for me

DelphiniumBlue · 26/07/2016 23:37

Revlon, by a mile. Lasts even longer with Sally Hansen top coat.

Rifleponyandme · 26/07/2016 23:39

Layton denny

DangerQuakeRhinoSnake · 26/07/2016 23:41

Chanel or MAC.

LilQueenie · 26/07/2016 23:44

nails inc and can honestly say I have never spent full price on any of them. Glamour magazine often have them as a free gift and it only costs 1 or 2 pounds. TkMaxx also do them for around £3.99. or currently £14.99 for a pack of them. I also get them off ebay for a couple pounds.

GinBunny · 26/07/2016 23:50

Oh. I've just realised that Rimmel and Revlon are different companies. I think I have had Revlon in the past and they were good and I thought they had just gone downhill recently Blush
OPI - yes, I have heard of them, they use them in salons don't they?
Thanks for all the comments!

Ciaté.

Nabootique · 27/07/2016 00:32

ILNP. Have you tried the colour you like from a brand you like, and then just put a matte top coat on? Or did you mean matte like creme finish?

Chicinwellies · 27/07/2016 06:57

By a mile Revlon with no7 stay top coat. I've been a nail polish lover since the 80s and this is hands down the best combo for shades, durability, and price x

B1rdinthebush · 27/07/2016 07:19

I really rate Barry M! The choice of colours isn't massive but they are a good price and last really well. I use Seche Vite topcoat on top of the Gelly formulations and it looks like Shellac.

ArnieChops · 27/07/2016 07:21

Orly is a really good make, again quite pricey sometimes but they have some really nice colours.

MajesticSeaFlapFlap · 27/07/2016 07:23

No 7 gel polish seems to last an age on me
Barry m does the best colours hands down but only last about 3 days on me

Onynx · 27/07/2016 07:27

Sally Hansen - lasts ages without chipping and lots of colours.

OPI are brilliant, I like that the brushes are slightly fatter which makes application more even. China Glaze is also brilliant, great colours and the best black I've ever had (Liquid Leather) really shiny, possibly my favourite.

ICanSeeForMiles · 27/07/2016 07:40

For Nails Inc, OPI and Leighton denny, buy them off Qvc. They always do fantastic value sets. And if you don't like them, send them back.

MadisonMontgomery · 27/07/2016 09:19

Essie, OPI and China Glaze.

poppym12 · 27/07/2016 10:07
