What's your favourite nail varnish brand?

I do love Nails Inc. It's pricier than I want to pay but it goes on well and lasts forever without chipping. I can't find the colour I want at the moment though, a matte salmon pink.

I have just bought a lovely colour by Rimmel but it needed 3 layers, doesn't look smooth on and has chipped within a couple of days (this is on my toes if it makes any difference!). I gave them a second chance because of the colour, the last one I bought went straight in the bin because it was like coloured water and would have needed about 10 coats to get even close to the colour in the bottle!

What brands do you use/would recommend?

I don't rate Essie at all, streaky stuff and you need 3 coats at least for it to look half decent. I was really disappointed as there's always really great reviews on here.

I like OPI and Essie, but Kiko Milano's polishes aren't so bad considering they're cheap. Lots of fun, summery colours. Rocking shade 344 at the moment-a very summery aquamarine. Grin

Essie. I dont' really have any others tbh! I buy them dirt cheap on Fragrance Direct as they are old stock.

Dame, I think the Essie they sell on the high street is slightly different to the one stocked in salons, there is definitely a difference in the quality.

My faves are Essie, OPI and CND Vinylux.

I don't wear nail polish on my hands but I do like OPI (on my toenails)

I bought an Essie Ballet Slippers for DD - she hasn't used it yet .

And she had acrylic nails last week with an OPI colour , still 100%

Botanicbaby · 27/07/2016 21:34

Orly or Illamasqua - you can pick these up in TK Maxx relatively cheaply.

Don't rate Essie at all - streaky, chips easily and over-priced although it has a great range of shades.

OPI goes gloopy after a while. The mini bottles are your best bet.

Would never ever buy cosmetics from a fashion house e.g. Chanel, they might have great marketing and desirable colours but the product itself is utter rubbish and not worth the price tag.

botemp · 27/07/2016 21:57

Deborah Lippmann are the bees knees IMO. It's the only polish I ever remove still in perfect condition. Lasts two weeks (maybe longer if my nails didn't grow so fast) on one or two layers with a top coat. Beautiful nude and sheer colours.

Kiko is great for budget.

Occasionally I fall down the Chanel trap because of the colours but they last four days at most. They have new gel polishes that supposedly last longer but at an inflated price to make up for an already mediocre standard product there's no justification at all. Kure Bazaar was a bit of a disappointment, streaky and needed a few layers to get even, then wore away at the edges v. quickly and I'm not all that convinced there is such a thing as nail varnish without 'nasties' but if anyone's found some let me know Smile.

OPI!

derektheladyhamster · 27/07/2016 22:40

Love Barry m. I've had nails Inc from magazines but I'd never buy at full price. Barry m are always on offer in super drug or boots

notamummy10 · 27/07/2016 22:40

Barry M!

TheLadyWithTheYellowHat · 27/07/2016 22:43

Love Jessica nail Polish, pricey but it stays put for ages

Tarrarra · 27/07/2016 22:45

OPI or Nails inc. Always use them as they give a perfect coverage. I buy sets off Qvc as they're good value. The only Nails inc ones I don't like are the gel effect. I paid for a gel manicure a few months ago and it didn't last any longer than my diy manicure with these brands!

IHaveBrilloHair · 27/07/2016 22:47

Leighton Denny.

PunkrockerGirl · 27/07/2016 22:53

The Avon gel one is by far the best I've tried (and I've tried pretty much all the expensive ones mentioned above).
There's some gorgeous colours, it looks very professional, lasts for days and has the obvious advantage of being relatively cheap. I'd never go back to a 'higher end' brand after using this. There's often 3 for 2 offers too.
I'm not an Avon rep btw Grin

polyhymnia · 27/07/2016 23:57

Essie - doesn't seem to streak on me. Usually buy from their website. Like Chanek colours but texture not as good. And have one Bobbi Brown one, which is excellent.

polyhymnia · 27/07/2016 23:58

Jessica good too.

Socialaddict · 28/07/2016 13:30

OPI all the way for me! I also like Essie's colours but don't think they last as long as OPI.

GinBunny · 31/07/2016 21:53

Thank you for the TKMaxx suggestions, I went there today and got some Essie polish in the colour I was looking for plus some NailsInc gel polish and a matt effect top coat. The Essie polish is very runny, literally pooled on my big toe but the coverage is good. Flowers everyone

Hi, saw someone today with a lovely, light, hot pink blouse/shirt/top with straight short collar and orange inside the collar. Anyone know what top this might be and where it came from? It was tucked into skinnies and looked lovely. Thx.

flutterworc · 31/07/2016 22:07

I was always a OPI girl, but even this never lasted (well) for more than 2-3 days. Now onto Jamberry, which I love - take me no time and last a good couple weeks. I'm not a rep, so no vested interest in them in case anyone thinks I'm flogging! Grin
