Looking for comfy laceless trainers please

I've lived in Gola suede trainers (very 90s I know Grin) for years, followed by Converse.

The laces are a pain though as my shoes are on and off all day, and they come undone quite a bit too.

So... I'm looking at laceless trainers. However lots of them look like they have thin soles and wouldn't be very comfy - I'd really like some which are properly padded inside iykwim. And I'm not a fan of a huge wodge of white plastic round the sole (flatforms?) Neutral colours preferred.

Can anyone point me to some which might fit the bill? As you can probably tell I'm more about comfort than fashion Smile

Have a look at these OP - the Skechers Breathe Easy ones. They look as though they're laced but they're slip-ons like the Go Walks. I've just ordered my second pair (in black/silver - not the taupe/pink!)

They've got memory foam insoles and are the most comfortable shoes I've ever had. I've got some Go Walks but tbh I find these easier to walk in - and more flattering

SnoopDoggyDogg · 13/07/2016 20:13

I have got gel insoles for them which make them comfier but they are much better than say, Converse. I can't wear Converse as the thin soles make my feet really sore but that doesn't happen in the Victoria ones even without the gel insoles.

Try on the Sketchers, once you feel how comfortable they are you will adjust to how they look.

Hoppinggreen · 13/07/2016 20:36

You can get sketchers at Sports Direct too

rightknockered · 13/07/2016 20:47

Nike air rift. I love mine

leccybill · 13/07/2016 22:08

I got my Skechers from Sports Direct.
I unmed and ahhed over then for a while but ye gods, they are just too damn comfy!

hugoagogo · 13/07/2016 22:09

When I was having trouble with my back I just laced my trainers with white elastic, so I could slip them off easily.

minipie · 13/07/2016 22:15

Hmm just showed DH the go walks and he says Urgh your mother would wear those which has put me off a bit... (Might get some anyway and just wear them when he's not looking)

I will try on the Victoria ones tomorrow Snoop - what are these gel insoles of which you speak?

The Breathe Easy ones look ok but shame they don't come in many colours.... Anyone know of any other trainers which look laced but aren't?

Nike juvenate? They have laces but they are purely for decoration. Super comfy!

Pootlebug · 13/07/2016 22:27

These in whatever you like. I use them for trainers for triathlons and they stretch well to get your foot in easily and then stay snug.

LizzieMacQueen · 13/07/2016 22:28

Elastic laces, easy peasy.

MissBattleaxe · 13/07/2016 22:30

YY to elastic laces. You can buy silicon laces from Amazon and use them in any trainers at all. My sons no longer have trailing laces and I no longer have to say "watch your laces" five millions times a day. You can also transfer them to other trainers when your trainers wear out. They are thus far indestructible.

My 11 year old Superdry/Jack wills/Hollister/Topshop loving DD thinks my sketchers are really trendy. She had some Mary Jane style ones for school and some grey ones for playing out in. Quite a few of her mates have them too so they can't be THAT bad.

ilovecherries · 14/07/2016 08:48

If you can get yourself to a Schuh store they carry loads of Skechers, and have a lot of GW2. I'm an 8 in a trainer (albeit with a sports sock), but only a 6 in GW. I don't find them quite as supportive as a trainer, but since I had a bad accident two years ago, and had a lot of surgery, they are really the only thing I can wear other than sports trainers or walking boots. I stocked up the other day in 4 different colours, because Schuh had a lot of them down to about £30. They aren't classy but they are comfortable.

ilovecherries · 14/07/2016 08:50

Skechers soSo do pull on trainers, with pretend laces. I have those, as well. And a Mary Jane style....

Severino · 14/07/2016 08:51

I live in my slip on converse 😊

minipie · 14/07/2016 11:29

The various lace replacements are good idea but most look a bit obvious iyswim- I will keep browsing though

Tried the Victorias today and they are ok. Not sure if they work with socks however and I need socks as have sweaty feet Blush guess that is an issue with the Gowalks too?

laceless converse! Why didn't I think of that? Do they fit snugly severino and could I wear with socks (with trousers that is)?

I have also thought of velcro - so far all the womens velcro trainers are either platformy or white - am looking through boys and mens though

Ps and thanks everyone Smile

Yes minipie - with socks and trousers is fine. I find I need a bigger size in the laceless ones that's all. Just noticed they are on the Next website now so will be ordering some more from there 😊

minipie · 14/07/2016 16:35

Hmm they don't come in many colours either... I'd really like a sort of neutral greige colour but a lot of these come in black/white/navy or maybe hot pink.

Still looking

I have black Stan Smiths with Velcro. I prefer them because laces just look a bit messy and I've never really figured out how to hide them. Going to investigate the silicone ones mentioned upthread now though.

Severino · 14/07/2016 17:05

Perfect 😂

Looking for comfy laceless trainers please
SnoopDoggyDogg · 14/07/2016 17:09

I got the gel insoles from Brantano. The socks, no def don't wear socks with them. I wear the trainer liners that don't show. I also have Ugg laceless plimsolls. Forgot about those! In grey, they are comfy although they squash one of my big toes if I wear them for too long but that happens with a lot of shoes on me I find. Think my big toes must be exceptionally large Grin

minipie · 14/07/2016 21:13

Thanks Severino! i have found a grey version (kids but they go up to my size) which I like. But are they comfy...? I find my normal lace up converse comfy enough but worry that elasticated ones might not fit as well and rub?
