Looking for best comfy flip flops - are Fitflops seen as frumpy? Someone said they are so now I'm thinking twice about getting some.

What is the flip flop/in-and-out of garden shoe of choice, if you wish not to be frumpy, but you have wide feet?

crje · 07/06/2016 08:05

64pooLane - croc flip flops are fantastic for wide feet.
They are my guilty pleasure.

Schweppy · 08/06/2016 20:39

Looks really don't matter with these - if you want a summer sandal that you can wear all day and on long walks and endanger your arches, etc this is your shoe. Now, if we are talking about frumpy and comfortable Teva is your go to brand!

Schweppy · 08/06/2016 20:39

argh read not endanger your arches, etc....sorry

Schweppy · 08/06/2016 20:41

I have waterproof clogs from a company called Backdoor Shoes www.backdoorshoes.co.uk/ And bonus points, picked these up at a stall at the Hampton Court Flower Show last year

Cheapthrills · 08/06/2016 20:45

They are frumpy and not even comfortable. I always fall over in mine as the sole is so big.

LIZS · 08/06/2016 20:46

Saw someone yday in ff surfer style but with backstrap, anyone know what they might be?

2cats2many · 08/06/2016 20:48

Definitely frumpy.

LadyAntonella · 08/06/2016 20:54

Agree with cheapthrills I found them terribly uncomfortably and really had to grip on them with my toes to avoid slipping. Maybe I have weird feet. The only thing that they had going for them was that if I accidentally kicked the pavement (which was all the time in ffs) my toes didn't get caught as their soles are so giant they acted as a bumper.

LadyAntonella · 08/06/2016 20:54

That should be uncomfortable not uncomfortably and ffs = Fitflops bit for fucks sake!

LadyAntonella · 08/06/2016 20:55

NOT for fucks sake - new phone sorry - keeps autocorrecting me.

DavenotChas · 08/06/2016 20:59

LIZS were the shoes you saw these havaianas?

YorkieDorkie · 08/06/2016 21:00

Love them. Have 5 pairs. Live in them!

I'm 27 (and a mum) so clearly I fit the stereotype! I can't be doing with the blisters and sore feet that comes with cheap flip flops. Happy feet all day long.

LIZS · 08/06/2016 21:12

No definitely , fit flop style sole and stripey canvas straps.

Ashers40 · 08/06/2016 21:29

I don't care if they frumpy, I can walk for miles in them and my feet never ache. Also being a short arse the thick soles give me a bit of extra height without compromising on comfort. There are so many styles now I think some of them are quite pretty if you can look past the soles

janjan29 · 08/06/2016 21:40

Well I love my Electra ones. I have a black pair and a white(ish) pair. They are still going strong well over 5 years down the line. So comfy. I would not say they are frumpy. The only complaint I have is that I thought they were meant to be toning and I can't tell any difference in my thighs.

bedonald · 08/06/2016 21:59

OMG!!! I live in Paris & here they are the opposite of frumpy! I guess it's not what you wear, it's how you wear it Smile

ggirl · 08/06/2016 22:04

I like them and they're comfy

fieldfare · 08/06/2016 22:04

I've got tan leather ones that fit perfectly, don't aggravate my plantar fasciitis and I can walk miles in. I don't think they're frumpy.
But I'm late 30's so maybe they are!

polyhymnia · 08/06/2016 22:49

Not necessarily. Have the silver skate Fitflops and lots of younger women have admired them and asked where they can get them.

MyLlamasGoneBananas · 08/06/2016 22:57

I hope not. I've just bought a pair of silver ones. I'm have very wide and swollen feet (joint pain). All winter I've been made to wear inserts in my shoe's by my podiatrist and physio. I wanted something good fory feet to wear every day and opted for a pair of fit flop's.
I've worn them out of the house twice and bed asked twice where I got them by
frumpystranger's.

Are they supposed to tome my thighs or something?

Vriksasana · 09/06/2016 01:09

I've a pair and they're so simple that they're neither pretty nor frumpy really. I just make sure that my feet don't look like the claws of a vulture about to swoop down out of the sky and seize its lunch out of a lake.

Vriksasana · 09/06/2016 01:13

love this simple pair

these are very pretty imo

It all depends what kind of state your feet are in.

Tartyflette · 09/06/2016 01:32

No, they don't tone your thighs. They had to stop claiming that.
Some fit flops are less frumpy than others, have thinner soles and straps.

There's a huge range these days. i have four or five pairs, including loafers,
I buy thrm when they're on Brand Alley at much reduced prices.

But they're just so comfortable, you csn walk around in hot weather all day in them, great for holidays. And they're actually quite lightweight.
But chic they are not. Sadly. still not as ugly as Birkentocks, though

polyhymnia · 09/06/2016 08:30

Vriksa, do you have the Bandas?
