Need something to hold my stomach in - but not too hot!

... so I've and my summer dresses out and they fit, because they're extremely stretchy Grin but I have a bulgy belly! Looks hideous ....

Can anyone recommend some underwear that will hold this in, so it looks reasonably flat, without being unbearable to wear in the heat, i.e. too constrictive/tight? I have some magic underwear stuff from M&S, but it's unbearably tight and difficult to put on and take off and rolls down or up all the time Hmm

Looking for something comfier - I'm aware I'll sacrifice the efficiency, but it might help a little?

Of course that should read "I've GOT my summer dresses out ..."

i was looking for something like this for a wedding this weekend. didn't want to be restricted all day. i ended up buying some support knickers from primark. i was really impressed. they was very comfortable. i took a spare pair of normal knickers with my just in case i gave up but i wore them all day and night with no problems ( although vodka may have helped)

Spanx.

Thecatgotmytongue · 31/05/2016 13:00

I have some from Primark but they come up too high and then roll down.

Spanx has a very lightweight option that's perfect for summer

Daffydil · 31/05/2016 13:33

Try an under bust control slip. Means you can wear a normal bra, and go to the loo easily. Also no rolling up or down. They are brilliant.

I like sainsburys ones.

Thecatgotmytongue · 31/05/2016 13:55

Is that like a slip including shoulder straps but cut out where the bra is?

Sainburys have very good support knickers labelled Apple or Pear. They're cheap, breathable they work pretty well. About 1/4 the price of Spanx and the like.

Daffydil · 31/05/2016 15:35

Yes. I've found it so much better than pants or bodies!

Thanks for the link. I'll try it.

I find that I need heavy duty cover ups but may try that slip too. Last week I bought some high waisted shorts from Primark. They hold me in and the waist prevents spillage. But clearly denim shorts under outfits not ideal for summer but boy, do they work under flimsy material/maxis!

KP86 · 01/06/2016 09:48

Wouldn't a slip be really hot though? I find them a bit uncomfortable around the tops of my legs because they hold you in like a tight skirt.

Depending on how lumpy and bumpy you are, a pair of medium to high waisted control undies are probably your best bet. I have a few pairs that are thick enough to be effective and high enough to not roll but not hot. Just watch for VPL. Best to size up to get some hold without the bulges.

Most recent pair were from Amazon for £6 delivered.

Thecatgotmytongue · 01/06/2016 10:35

kp86 can you link to them? Thanks.

Peacocks (of all places!) high waist shapewear briefs. The are nice and high, don't roll down, comfortable- hold you in, but you can still sit down and eat... Seriously, best shapewear I've had that's not £££Spanx
