do you have a link?

red37 · 15/01/2007 22:01

Naff defo

Katymac · 15/01/2007 22:02

No that's part of the problem

He keeps pointing out sort of not quite bumbags and I think they are awful - if he has to have one it should at least be reasonable looking.....or should I just ban him?

Beauregard · 15/01/2007 22:04

sorry naff

Katymac · 15/01/2007 22:06

I keep saying that they are naff

How should he carry

Glasses (for Driving)
Cash
Cards
Cheque book/paying in book (he does the banking)
Shopping list & vouchers

He doesn't have enough pockets

Katymac · 15/01/2007 22:07

DH has a sort of small satchel type thing that he wears across him, in black leather, it is not naff ! and better than walking around with bulging pockets or me having to carry all his stuff in my bag

Beauregard · 15/01/2007 22:15

pmsl
That will be a no to briefcase then!

itoa · 15/01/2007 22:15

rucksack

Katymac · 15/01/2007 22:17

I understand that he needs something - but what

I don't want him to look naff

Most rucksacks are enormous he only needs kinda "handbag" size

naff. agree with iota, rucksack. You can get smallish black (or other manly colour) ones you know.

Doesn't he have a jacket with lots of pockets, inside ones and everything? Most the time men can carry their piffling belongings in their jacket I'd've thought. For all other occasions, rucksack over a shoulder.

Katymac · 16/01/2007 07:25

Can anyone find me/him a small rucksack that looks manly enough?

advice about man bags here!
Is a messenger bag/satchel too big? Next have some bottom left

themaskedposter · 16/01/2007 08:23

agree with lulumama ... there are some rather stylish bags out there for men ...

so really it's only a question of whether they can carry the 'look' off or not.

DH wears one sometimes (brown leather across the shoulder jobby - sounding very similar to lulumamas dhs actually) - we got it in Gap and does the trick!

aDad · 16/01/2007 08:31

small rucksacks aren't remotely stylish either though are they?

and as for carrying everything in pockets - yes, ok in winter, not in summer. And if you have kids with you, you have more 'stuff' than can fit in your pockets.

agree that across the shoulder manbag type thing is better. You get ok ones not in leather too.

it ain't easy for men you know.

Lact8 · 16/01/2007 08:41

I agree with lulumama. Dp has a record type bag, in khaki, that he wears across him. Looks cool tbh (cos I got it for him!)

Don't like rucksacks. They remind me of smelly PE kits

aDad · 16/01/2007 08:42

record bag type bag ideal in my book

agree a messenger bag is the only way to do this - DH was coveting a £££ distressed brown leather one in JL but ended up with a £3 canvas one from Primark which is just as good.
Gap are normally pretty good for this kind of thing, or if he's sporty and/or edgey rather than classic or preppy, maybe something from Crumpler or the Manhattan Portage Co .
Rucksacks do no-one any favours unless you're actually hiking, and can ruin the shoulders of suits (think of Josh in the West Wing constantly hunched under his laptop rucksack)
My dad carries a ghastly euro-style manhandbag (at the urging of my mum) which makes me cringe.

Really, though, the things you describe should all go in his pockets in the winter (leave specs in glovebox though).

MrsBadger · 16/01/2007 08:56

Topman have some good ones too - steer clear of the really tiny ones though as they are just too handbaggy.

aDad · 16/01/2007 08:57

Manhatten portage and crumpler ones are great.

MrsBadger · 16/01/2007 09:00

DH bought me a Crumpler neoporene wrap thing for my laptop and it is fab.

Lorina · 16/01/2007 09:01

I suppose they look cool on cool people. If you've got the confidence to wear one then its probably going to look good.

justJAM · 16/01/2007 09:43

oohhh MrBadger that JL one is lovely! your DH clearly has good taste
