Anyone else find it impossible to wear heels?

Today, due to rain, I wore high heeled chunky boots with my jeans, in order to keep jeans off ground (and avoid embarrassing upward creep of water). I ended up walking like this: imagine you are standing with legs together, then bend as if you are going to sit on imaginary chair - then walk forward.

I looked ridiculous.

Can't do it. Can't do heels.

I don't like pointy toed shoes, though.

Fimbo · 12/01/2007 14:43

I'm 5'9

brimfull · 12/01/2007 14:44

cannot do over 3inches though.....in the heel dept.

TeeCee · 12/01/2007 14:44

ggirl - they sound fab, go for it!

Nailpolish - agree about clumpy heels and courts shoes

nailpolish · 12/01/2007 14:44

penny lancaster is 6' 1" and wears heels

TeeCee · 12/01/2007 14:45

ohhh see I love pointy shoes with a low kitten heel.

expatinscotland · 12/01/2007 14:45

I can't do stilettos, either.

But a 2-3 in. heel is right up my alley.

brimfull · 12/01/2007 14:46

not keen on the rounded toes variety

TeeCee · 12/01/2007 14:46

I think strappy heeled sandals are the best though. That's when I'd like to wear a higher heel but just can't, my feet scream within seconds.

expatinscotland · 12/01/2007 14:47

Strappy sandals rule.

nailpolish · 12/01/2007 14:47

tc get scholl party feet

you get used to it

your feet kind of go numb

TeeCee · 12/01/2007 14:48

Yeah, nowt much sexier than a strappy sandal on a well turned ankle!!!

wtf is a well turned ankle anyway?

TeeCee · 12/01/2007 14:48

scholl party feet are shit though. Been there done it got the blisters to prove it!

TeeCee · 12/01/2007 14:50

pmsl - at getting used to your feet going numb! That's the point, why do it to yourself? No sorry I know I look good when I go out and I'm also comfy, don't need to have numb feet, pinched toes, rubbed raw soles etc.

Fimbo · 12/01/2007 14:52

The strappy bits at the front of heeled sandals always dig into me.

I do wear heels for nights out etc but it is only ok with dh really as he is quite tall, so I don't tower above him (unlike Penny & Rod - hate that look!) but all my friends are midgets and I look like a giraffe.

nailpolish · 12/01/2007 14:52

peep toes are my fave

TC have you tried platform

not as scary as it sounds, great for those who feet get painful in heels

TeeCee · 12/01/2007 14:53

oh my God, no those are far too high. Will try and google aome shoes I'd wear in a bit.

Fimbo · 12/01/2007 14:54

I love they shoes I wore to my wedding -they are really high and ok they are nafftastic white but I ain't getting rid of them ever. They are gorg.

Fimbo · 12/01/2007 14:57

Not for everyone but these are fab

MrsSpoon · 12/01/2007 15:01

I was a DM teenager (and early 20s too) and have had to teach myself to walk in heels. I like a small stilleto/kitten heel about 1 1/2 inch, anything higher and I need a chunkier heel. I did however get a pair of wedge heeled shoes in the summer and was surprised at how comfortable they were and how easy they were to walk in.

expatinscotland · 12/01/2007 15:02

i like a peep-toe as well.

fimbo, those shoes are FAB.

LittleSarah · 12/01/2007 15:17

I have some very nice peep-toes...

I love my heels but have gotten out of the habit of wearing them. Still, just got two re-heeled and have a party on Saturday!

nannynickers · 12/01/2007 15:36

I have the same problem, only wear them if I'm going to go out and get blind drunk, that way you don't feel the pain!

nannynickers · 12/01/2007 15:38

Love the Liv shoes Fimbo, the do some yummy boots too don't they!

Troutpout · 12/01/2007 15:38

I can't walk in heels at all... i look like ive pooped my pants
