Harems/smart joggers

carrie74 · 17/03/2016 12:58

So I haven't yet dipped my toe in this pool, but I quite fancy the idea. I work in a casual environment, so would like a pair that I can wear for long haul travel, the school run and also for work.

I've been looking at the Hush harems and joggers and would like to know opinions, or alternatives. Because I plan to be able to wear them outside of the house, I need the fabric to be decent quality, so am willing to pay a more than New Look prices if necessary.

I am very tempted as they look so comfy.
BUT I'm 5foot 2 and have short legs, size 8-10
Would they work? Or make me look like my legs are half the length they're meant to be?

Ughnotagain · 19/03/2016 08:18

Squirrel I'm 5ft 1 and I have some. I do find them very hard to style so as not to look like pyjamas though. I think last summer I mainly just wore plain tops (as mine are patterned).

BabyGanoush · 19/03/2016 09:29

I am 6ft and they are fine for me (leg length 34")

Yes they pull down a bit, but thatmakes them look better on. Means the knees go a bit baggy though.

BabyGanoush · 19/03/2016 09:30

I want to buy the short ones for summer, or will I look like a total weirdo in circus pants?! 😱

CurlsLDN · 19/03/2016 11:51

If anyone's a size 6, next have some nice Khaki ones in the sale m.next.co.uk/sale/141359

ChristmasEvePJs · 19/03/2016 12:25

I got some lovely patterned ones from Monsoon last summer, they are great for work with a plain top and a cardi or blazer and really dress up with heels. For £45 I fell the quality is great.

Zara have some in now for under£25 too.

Greengardenpixie · 19/03/2016 12:32

I got the hush ones. They are really gorgeous:

Not sure what size I am as I am losing weight [ maybe 10/12] but I got the small and they really are perfect. Not sure what shoes to wear with them if i wore them to work though. I think sandals look nice but its not warm enough. Need to experiment with them. I only got them delivered yesterday.

BabyGanoush · 19/03/2016 13:19

they look great greengardenpixie

how to style them?!

Greengardenpixie · 19/03/2016 13:27

well a simple t-shirt on top will look fine :) I bought the long sleeved top from hush and it looks good: I personally would wear a longish vest, long sleeved sweat top and the monaco trousers and my palladium oxford tennis shoes. For something smarter, I will need to experiment. Think they would look nice with a plain blouse too but not sure about footwear yet when dressed smartly!

Greengardenpixie · 19/03/2016 13:29

like this

Greengardenpixie · 19/03/2016 13:30

The ones posted second are not the same trousers but are similar in style.

JuneFromBethesda · 19/03/2016 16:14

Ooh thanks FairyCaravan, I've been eyeing up the Gap ones, you've persuaded me to order them. I have woollen joggers from Gap which I've loved wearing this winter, although they're a bit baggy (I think because of the weight of the wool) so inside rather than outside apparel.

I discounted the Hush ones because according to their measurements, they'll be too short for me (I'm 5'8") - as indeed would any of their trousers Angry So stoopid. I'm not unusually tall, I'm surprised they don't do a longer leg length.

queribus · 19/03/2016 16:45

Hush ones arrived today. I look like MC Hammer. They are going back. Material is lovely though.

ShutUpLegs · 19/03/2016 22:46

I bought some khaki GAP ones in the 40% off event today. Fabric is a bit thinner than I would have liked and they are a touch - just a touch - short. But for £20, they are OK. It'll be a while before I wear them though - its still too cold.

Ktay · 20/03/2016 08:48

Queribus MC Hammer is exactly how I look in them too

balkanscot · 20/03/2016 19:49

Awaiting mine with some trepidation now. Was swayed by all the raving reviews re: Hush harems on their own website. Beforehand I though hell would freeze over before I got myself a pair of harems. Shock

Damn power of advertising… Angry Grin

BabyGanoush · 20/03/2016 20:53

McHammer?! No way!!!!

They look sexy and cool and casual on me

I hope Shock

Bananajam · 20/03/2016 20:57

Mine finally arrived yesterday and they fit well, don't make me look like M C Hammer fortunately and are so comfortable it's like wearing pyjamas! They look fine styled with a t-shirt or sweatshirt and are perfect for travelling which is what persuaded me. DH hates them but I'm not wearing them to impress anyone! I'm a size 12/14 and 5'5.
They are expensive but they feel far better quality than the Next and Primark ones I already have.

balkanscot · 23/03/2016 19:56

Hmmm, finally got mine today. Quality is great and I love the length as I am short. BUT from the hips up I look crap (have got hourglass figure, i.e., big hips), although TBH, I was kind of expecting them to look even more hideous on me than they do. So, fine & comfy for lounging around the house, but there is absolutely NO WAY I would wear them outside.

looki · 23/03/2016 22:59

I bought the Monacco midnight blue joggers and they went back. While they were nice, I thought they looked like tracksuit bottoms and weren't worth the price. They also were too long on me (I'm 5ft 2). Hush beautiful models and styling make all their clothes look fabulous. Sadly the reality always disappoints me.

Greengardenpixie · 24/03/2016 17:21

That's a shame. I am 5ft 5 and they were fine on me. I really like them. I think the material makes them less like jogging bottoms. The only issue I have is what to wear on my feet with them. I will wear them to work with sandals but for now [ cause it is too cold] will wear them with my trainers. I have them on right now :) I love the material that they are made of and have just the right amount of slouch. Shame you didn't get on with them. They are definetly a bit longer on me than the model.

polyhymnia · 24/03/2016 18:56

Can anyone who has the Hush ones let me know how generous the sizing is, please?

Greengardenpixie · 24/03/2016 20:08

I think I am probably a small 12 and I ordered the 10 in the Monacco trousers. I am not sure about the other ones. I personally would try the size down in the other harems. Do the reviews help?

Greengardenpixie · 24/03/2016 20:09

I should have said that the 10's are perfect on me.
