What look do you love? What look do you hate?

I LOVE to see people who look effortlessly stylish in layers and beautifully cut clothes. (I am not like that BTW, no matter how I try).

I HATE clumpy shoes, especially peep toe boots which I just can't ever see myself liking.

What are your fashion yays and nays?

I love the look of women who were clearly into some sort of alternative subculture (goth/hippy/punk etc) as youngsters but have upgraded their look because they've gotten older... so its more toned down but still has an alternative vibe. Like stevie nicks who still has that hippy/gypsy style but isn't as in your face these days.

What I hate is the opposite of that, people who clearly are still dressing the way they did as a teenager and have never really moved on. Or dressing the way they wished they did as a teenager. I don't mean I think when people hit a certain age they should break out the twinset and pearls just that I think style ev9lves as you get older.

Other than that I think peopleshould wear what's comfortable and what suits their shape.

NathalieM · 03/02/2016 15:49

I like the laid back look, which is weird because I usually go full-on glam!

nickEcave · 03/02/2016 16:08

I adore this kind of style www.aclotheshorse.co.uk/
In fact, despite being 20 years older than her I want to be this woman!

I hate things with logos and Kim Kardashian-style high maintenance looks.

Jmangel · 03/02/2016 18:38

I love the All Saints/Hush kind of vibe - slouchy tops/knitwear with skin tight leather/coated jeans, ash ankle boots, blazer or cocoon coat and leather cross body bags.
I hate the Boden look - all that ditzy print and Breton stripe and tunic dresses in "fun" colours. Also hate MK bags or any gold logo type bag. And anyone carrying one of those cute nappy changing type bags - don't know the brand but it's kind of cream and pink with ribbons and stuff - why oh why?

Muskateersmummy · 03/02/2016 18:42

Depends on the occasion... Day wear I like the country look, skinny jeans, boots, roll neck/vest top and joules style jacket

Night out, a nice bodycon dress ( not a short show everything off one but something that shows off my figure ) with some beautiful stilettos. Love my going out shoes!

Muskateersmummy · 03/02/2016 18:43

Oh and I hate fussy bows, and glittery, slogan stuff. I'm not a fan of uggs either. I know most people love them but I really don't like the way the look

WhyDoesGastonBark · 03/02/2016 18:54

I hate bull ring nose piercings and so many pretty girls have them at the moment

hollieberrie · 03/02/2016 18:58

A browse on Pinterest tells me that the look i like is called Tomboy Chic. Apparently. This anyway. A Kristen Stewart kinda vibe.

I just like people who know how to put colours and prints together in an original way
My friend is amazing at this, we were at a children's party on Sunday and she wore raspberry woollen Viv West trousers with a black asymmetric slash neck top, leopard print wedge trainers and a lime green lightweight trench. She looked fabulous.

(I wore a yellow jumper and navy cigarette pants with black pumps. Because I'm a bit boring)

I can't stand any kind of Joules, Boden, White company, Fatface etc but I see that's already been covered Smile

MissAlabamaWhitman · 03/02/2016 19:21

Uggs are totally limb dependent I find,
Great on someone with legs to rival Gigi Hadid. I love the juxtaposition of ungainly shoe with coltish leg.

On somebody with legs more akin to Kim Kardashians, not so much.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 03/02/2016 19:32

Sorry CatsMeow I love a messy bun!
Also clean lines, nothing too structured and layered clothes, different textures and fabrics together.

Can't understand the wearing a huge rug thing like a poncho trend.

Sleepybeanbump · 03/02/2016 19:33

I love a classic country look: jeans, boots, wax jacket, gilet etc. Simple knitwear, really love shirts.

Hate anything tight, shiny and glam. Hate most bright colours and patterns. I could happily only wear navy, blue, white, grey and brown!

MissAlabamaWhitman · 03/02/2016 19:38

I second hating the poncho blanket things
My auntie bought me two for Christmas
I ebayed them and they went for over twenty quid each. People are mad.

Or blind

niminypiminy · 03/02/2016 19:42

Like: Masculine tailoring, cropped hair, flat shoes, red lips.

Skinny jeans, buns, false-eyelashes and heavy eyeliner, beige lips.

niminypiminy · 03/02/2016 19:43

The second of mine should be Loathe: ...

MadisonMontgomery · 03/02/2016 19:50

I really like classic clothes in nice country colours. Hate 'fun' clothes and people who are in their 30's but dress like they're 18.

TheCatsMeow · 03/02/2016 19:53

I'd forgotten about beige lips I really hate that.

No need to apologise ILostIt I'm sure a lot of people reading this hate what I wear (cute, bows, very girly very colourful)! Grin

EmmaWoodlouse · 03/02/2016 21:07

I love two very contrasting styles:

  1. faded jeans, soft looking t-shirts/sweatshirts/jumpers, Converse or well-worn leather boots, hair loose or in a messy updo, silver or leather accessories
  1. slightly 40s/50s? - longish pencil skirts, fitted jackets with 3/4 length sleeves, worn with gloves if weather permits, fitted scoop-neck jumpers, pointy flats or medium heels, small bags with short handles, tidier hair.

The first look suits me better than the second although I have dabbled with the second from time to time.

Some things I don't like much are: skinny jeans with shoes rather than boots (possibly OK if you have tiny feet - I haven't!), trainers with anything other than sporty clothes, too-long wide trousers that scrape along the ground (but also too-short wide trousers - it's a fine line!), the metal or the colour gold in any form, shiny patent-type shoes and bags, opaque tights with very flimsy summery dresses, anything where the top and bottom half are badly mismatched in terms of formality (e.g, a sweatshirt with a sporty slogan over a smart skirt and heels).

Muskateersmummy · 03/02/2016 21:12

How funny ... From reading your posts cats I wouldn't have you down as the cute girly bow type! Isn't it funny how you get a mental image of someone ? (Which is clearly completely wrong!!!)

museumum · 03/02/2016 21:15

I love "clean" and natural looks whether it's hippyish or 'expensive' or country.

I hate "fake" looks of any sort (gel nails, fake eyelashes etc).

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 03/02/2016 21:30

I like the cute, quirky dresses and bows thing too and don't have the kind of personality you'd expect for it. Think Zooey Deschanel...

I dislike the dragged through a hedge backwards and half a tonne of make up applied by an over-excited toddler look that so many of my undergrad students are sporting these days. Usually with comedy eyebrows as the centrepiece of the look.

TheCatsMeow · 03/02/2016 21:34

Musk it is funny! I'm a bit of an oxymoron I like girly delicate pretty things and enjoy drifting around being an idealistic daydreamer but I'm also quite opinionated and fiercely outspoken.

I think which side of me you see first would colour what you'd imagine I dress like!

TheCatsMeow · 03/02/2016 21:34

Step we like similar looks Grin

HalfStar · 03/02/2016 22:15

I love the slightly Paris/rock look as mentioned by others, also the tomboy chic thing, also a bit of 'off-duty model or ballerina' thing which I imagine to be grey marl, clean lines, scraped hair, with maybe a perfect leather jacket or blazer thrown on. I admire a woman's style when I sense she sticks to a limited palette and every piece is (apologies for wanky word coming up) curated.

I'm quite over librarian chic, and I never liked rockabilly. I hate heels during the day and never think they look right. Heels at night fine.

madmomma · 03/02/2016 23:12

I love neat, fitted clothes that are quite unobtrusive. I dislike scarves, baggy, billowing stuff, ostentatious wag-like vulgarity. I like clothes to look harmonious and restful on the eye. (I look like a bag lady btw)
