Is lace over now...?

teal lace

As a poster said on her to me a couple of days ago - 'maybe we are all over the lace now...'

But, ordered the above, waiting for it to arrive, for a Christmassy dinner out with friends. 46, good tits, hoping its going to look nice and not 'a bit last year.'

What do you think?

I'm afraid the OP dress is very mother of the bride. Lace works better for the young when combined with edgier designs (see above)

I have a lace dress which dh bought me around 3 years ago. I have not worn it for two years. I tried it on a few months ago and felt a little frumpy in it.

As one poster said, perhaps it needs to be teamed with items to make it edgy/rock chick; a biker jacket, ankle boots. Not helpful if you are not after this look!

I prefer mesh to lace I think. I could only afford cheap lace and that always seems to be finished off badly with bits of thread sticking out.

How can lace be over already when this season's party dresses had lace and it's still the party season?! i bought a lace dress and I haven't worn it yet ffs

ItchyArmpits · 14/12/2015 18:01

I think if something suits you and you feel good in it, you will always look good.

WhatamessIgotinto · 14/12/2015 19:19

If you love it and feel good in it then wear it. I've never been a fashion victim and never will be so you won't hear me denouncing a particular look because it's 'over'. Have a fab time in your dress!

I think lace stuff always looks dressy and I like it. I also like velvet. I don't care about when these things are in fashion. And I like the dress linked, I also think that a wrap style always looks good.

I actually love the dress you linked to in your OP, OP. Some of the lurex/fashionable dresses are horid, and I am substantially younger than you!

Lace is here for a while yet imo, but teal is very dated.

I went to a party this weekend and lots of people were wearing lace, wrapover dresses like that teal one and see through/sheer sleeves. They all looked nice and seemed to be having a jolly time! If your dress looks nice, and a bit sexy with your curves, and you feel confident in it, then you will look fab, more fab than someone wearing something cutting edge but no-one gives a shit. I don't think, unless you are wearing something notably appalling, that parties are really about the perfect dress, if they are crowded you can't see them, but you can see nice skin, lovely hair, great smile, I'd be more fussed about looking good facially than an on-trend dress.
