Is lace over now...?

teal lace

As a poster said on her to me a couple of days ago - 'maybe we are all over the lace now...'

But, ordered the above, waiting for it to arrive, for a Christmassy dinner out with friends. 46, good tits, hoping its going to look nice and not 'a bit last year.'

What do you think?

What Ganoush said Smile

OP I like that teal dress, great for curves and boobs no? I have a cheaper one similar to that in berry that I got off Asos. I feel quite slinky in it and so long as DH and I like it who cares what anyone else thinks?

Destinysdaughter · 08/12/2015 21:45

Agree looks good for curves and boobs ( will have to go to H of F now and try it on...)

MuchasSmoochas · 08/12/2015 22:21

I think it's the shape that makes it look dated. There's some lovely lace Victoriana styles in, midi length, high neck. These look fab. Like the Whistles one which is a bit Self Portrait at the bottom.

Went to a wedding do recently. Over 30 it just is naff in a dress.

80sWaistcoat · 10/12/2015 14:03

It arrived, I tried it on, and you know what...it looks good. Curves in all the right places, nice waist and it's a great colour.

I don't think it looked naff.

I'll keep it even if it is lace!

Good for you! A dress that suits and flatters you is worth keeping.

BabyGanoush · 10/12/2015 16:42

good!

Dowser · 11/12/2015 09:14

Pleased you liked your dress...waistcoat. It's how you feel that matters.

Someone mentioned velvet. I find velvet very old fashioned. Can't see me buying into that at all. But then if it's styled in a very modern way and I look fabulous in it....who know?

GhettoFabulous · 11/12/2015 19:27

The high necked dress is only good if you're a skinny 20 year old, not for a forty something hour glass.

KP86 · 11/12/2015 20:04

Jealous of your good tits! Mine have been fucked since I was 15 :(

80sWaistcoat · 11/12/2015 20:26

Good tits is all I got though. And a Lacey dress! Sorry about yours, bet theirs other good stuff going on though.

I hope not. Have lovely 2 yr old red lace dress with black lining ,so it isnt 'shouty' red, if you know what I mean. Was very expensive ( I bought it after tests for breast cancer came back 'benign' so I knew I wasn't going to die-well, not imminently . Went a bit mad) Soft beauiful fabric, not scratchy ,but I've worn it only twice so on 'cost per wear' I'm not doing well . I think its classic and will never date

Postchildrenpregranny · 11/12/2015 20:37

And I'm 65 brenda so there.

GhettoFabulous · 11/12/2015 20:41

I have a black lace over a nude underlay dress which is similar in cut to the teal one and I planned to wear it to the office party. I'm a boobylooby hourglass. This thread has made me sad :(

80sWaistcoat · 11/12/2015 20:47

ghetto. Fashion isn't important, if you feel dab in it and it suits you then that's what important. I love the look of mine and I think it is classic!

Fuck fashion, wear what suits you and makes you feel good! ( one of the great things about ageing is that you're not such a slave to fashion but you also know what works for you)

So don't be sad Ghetto

GhettoFabulous · 12/12/2015 10:06

The more contemporary lace Victoriana dress back there would make me look at least 2 sizes bigger because it doesn't accentuate the waist and would give me the attractive monoboob/ham arms combo. Stylish.

Fuck it, I look good in my dress. I might run it past me stylish, 20 something daughters.

FrustratedFrugal · 12/12/2015 10:17

An item that fits and flatters is never not stylish.

80sWaistcoat · 12/12/2015 10:43

Id look like the granny from Giles in the conremporary lace dress. While I'm actually going more for the look of the second wife from Latin America in Modern Family.

I bloody love the teal dress, so nerr.

MrsCampbellBlack · 12/12/2015 12:39

I love lace - have dresses, tops and skirts in it.

Cheap lace isn't so great but good quality lace is classic and stylish.
