budget makeup recommendations

Hi

I am and always have been a slave to high end make up.

I have been reading on another thread that Rimmel is really good.

Dd is just starting to get interested in make up and I would prefer not to start her on my high end habit. Because to be honest I am not 100% sure it's worth the money ( although I can't see me giving up my CT foundation anytime soon). Grin

Please could you share your recommendations for budget buys?
I have never had a kohl liner I have been impressed with so if anyone can recommend one that would be great.

One more thing, can anyone recommend some good beauty bloggers for me, on my thirties. Dds recommendations are all bit out for my liking.

Thank you

Aw thanks Enjol! Have fun picking and choosing colours. I always think swatching is half the fun anyway Smile.

I can't wait!!

So I put my face on and used all three new buys.

Can't say they feel any different or give worse coverage than CT. In fact the scandaleyes, ink, gave slightly better coverage.

The kohl went on libel and the colossal mascara has made my lashes look amazing. Just need to see how it wears now!! Grin

Enjolrass maybe look for ideas from dark-eyed redheads? I know Karen Gillan is one for instance so maybe look up pictures for inspiration?

flippin somewhat unbelievably, Heather Shimmer still exists!

flippinada · 24/11/2015 16:43

It pleases me greatly that Rimmel still make Heather Shimmer lipstick Smile

just another small tip, if you buy from amazon and get that ridiculous free postage .... if you spend over £20 and you have spent a few pence pounds short then look at the add on items I bought a bronze make up pallette, it was about the same as postage would have cost and took me over to free postage so I got it free really Smile I really was not expecting much but it is actually really lovely, small and compact with blushers, lipgloss, eyeshadow, bronzer, eye pencil, mascara... great for popping in a handbag for a weekend or night out, just done similar for a slightly more expensive one which means instead of paying for postage I have paid about 1,50 and will get a set of eye colours and all the other bits too. also got other useful add on itemslike gorrilla tape to make up the amount for free post (so essentially free)

flippin I was an Earth Star girl, I mourn for it daily Sad
Still use rimmel Tiramisu lip liner and have done since about 1994!

flippinada · 24/11/2015 19:45

(((Rimmel))))

What more can I say!

I remember Earth Star, it was a lovely shade

franny85 · 24/11/2015 19:56

Budget makeup has really come on the past few years. A few of my faves are, Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum foundation, Sleek blushers', Makeup Revolution 32 matte eye shadow palette, sooo buttery smooth, MUR and MUA highlighters, Rimmel lip pencil in East End Snob, Rimmel Kate lipsticks... That's all I can think of just now although I could talk about makeup all day Blush

HopefulAnxiety · 24/11/2015 20:04

Kate Moss 003 looks quite similar? Rimmel does quite a few pinky nudes. Try Asia or one of the new nude ones.

HopefulAnxiety · 24/11/2015 20:05

Btw Earth Star seems to still be sold in the US so you could always ebay it. I get a lot of the US only Maybelline and Revlon lipsticks that way.

mrssmith79 · 24/11/2015 20:18

Oooh, Hopeful , going to try those tomorrow and have a look at eBay tonight - any excuse to buy more make-up!

Enjolrass · 24/11/2015 20:26

Wow you ladies are amazing!!

My trial went well. All still on, even the mascara! Which is better than CT!

Just remembered the Bourjois lipsticks that are dupes for the Chanel whatevertheyarecalled, the ones with Boy and Mademoiselle that thingy- ex Mrs Depp advertised?

Rouge coco something or other....well, there are some Bourjois ones that are (IMO) exactly the same but in a cheaper plastic package. The number 4 is fantastic.

Stepawayfromthezebras · 24/11/2015 20:51

thenlater Rouge Edition in Rose Tweed? It does look like a good dupe for Boy, I'll be getting it when my new tube of Boy's used up (which won't take long, I wear it all the time)

FedUpWithJudgementalPeople · 24/11/2015 22:17

Sleek from Superdrug is a good but inexpensive. Someone told me that makeup artists use that despite it being cheap
