I have rather a hankering for them but worry that I may look like a madwoman.

I was thinking a mid-blue denim (a bit stonewashed but not very).

Dungarees on a woman with a big tummy? people will draw the wrong conclusion.

It's a no from me.

I have the black Whistles ones from earlier in the year and wore them absolutely loads over summer - I'm 5ft 6 and a 10/12, very slim round the waist/tummy, and they're a really good shape for me. I'm a firm believer in wearing what you want if you feel good in it rather than what's considered "acceptable".

Nothing wrong with them if you buy ones that suit your shape.
If you are a bit tubby then its a case of trying on different ones.
I have the cord toast ones and think they look good. I'm a bit of a quirky dresser though.
I also love the whistles ones. I really love the wide leg.
