Okay, so are dungarees acceptable?

I have rather a hankering for them but worry that I may look like a madwoman.

I was thinking a mid-blue denim (a bit stonewashed but not very).

There are a lovely pair of cord ones in Toast. They would look great as long as you had great make up and maybe some funky glasses. And were standing next to a potter's wheel, looking moody, in a fjord.

Bananarama! LOL. I just don't think people would get it if I rocked up to the school gates like that!

PinkPjamas · 03/11/2015 14:28

I have two pairs of short dungs, both blue denim one a skirt one shorts.

I love them, I'm 33 5'3 slim but stocky, size 12 ish. I love them, I think they look cute and they're adaptable for winter with tights and boots or summer with vest and sandals. Wear whatever you want, if you feel good.

You'll be rockin' that Rod, Jane and Freddy look, or you could be mistaken for paying tribute to Grandpa Walton....

I have a burgundy cord short pair which (as Pink says) can be worn with tights in winter. Also have a denim skirt one - but isn't that a pinafore?

smearedinfood · 03/11/2015 15:52

I have the black topshop ones. I'm 5'7, and 37 size 12. I love 'em. Comfy and trendy. Great with White converse and a Breton. Handy front pocket. DS5 now has a pair too, as soon as they are clean they are back on him.

Just do it.

If we worried about what everybody thought all the time, we'd be quite boring.

SharkSkinThing · 03/11/2015 15:58

I love them too. But I have big boobs so don't think they would work on me! So I tend to wear A-line courdroy tunics with a scoop neck, with tights and dm's. Much more flattering (on me!).

But I agree - go for it!

CruCru · 03/11/2015 17:30

Hmm. I'm 1.65m tall and quite short legged with a big tummy (I'm not selling myself, am I?). I do like them but not if I'm going to look like a boiled egg in them.

Yes, for decorating.

reni2 · 03/11/2015 19:42

No, but if you have short dark hair you could go for the Super-Mario look Grin

herecomesthsun · 03/11/2015 19:45

I think these look fab (but they are sold out)

herecomesthsun · 03/11/2015 19:47

while my 3 year old loves these gap ones so much, I am getting the blue as well here

73dexter · 03/11/2015 20:34

Isn't that a dress rather than dungarees, herecomesthesun?

herecomesthsun · 03/11/2015 20:39

yes, a dress, but with a similar vibe, I really like it

CruCru · 03/11/2015 21:33

That is nice.

Hmm even my nearly 5 foot under 5 stone 9 year old DD is starting to look a bit old for them, and doesnt even look very slim in them.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 03/11/2015 21:37

But I am a big believer in wear what the heck you want.

CruCru · 03/11/2015 21:49

Perhaps I have enough clothes.

reni2 · 04/11/2015 10:39

I tried some on not long after having a baby thinking they might be kind around the middle. Looked like Humpty Dumpty.

CruCru · 04/11/2015 11:14

Ah, Humpty Dumpty is the look in try to avoid. Back to leggings and tunics for me.

Those toast dungarees are practically sold out. The fjords of Middle England must be swarming with moody potters

CruCru · 04/11/2015 11:54

Hmm. Just had a look at Toast - didn't find the dungarees but there are quite a few things I can imagine Scandinavian potters wearing. I'm cool with that look, I even have the glasses.

OP posts:
OnlyHereForTheCamping · 04/11/2015 12:12

I think I had a pair of these when I was 9

PurpleHairAndPearls · 05/11/2015 07:53

I am very very moody and have glasses, but as I'm so small one of my DCs said to me yesterday (with an air of surprise) "why are you not very tall?" Grin I really would look like a child in dungies. Although I really want some. And a potters wheel...

I do wear short pinafore dresses and thick tights though. Is this acceptable to accessorise with a potters wheel?
