Does anyone put there baby/toddler boys in tights during winter? DS 1 had some lovely ones with a superman design on them but cant seem to find any boys tights for DS 2.

had a friend who used to do this to keep their legs warm and so they wouldn't pull socks off
she bought navy or bright red!

poppynic · 05/12/2006 12:46

Weird isn't it, someone tried to sell me some baby tights the other day and I said automatically, "oh no, it might be a boy and I can't put tights on a boy." But then I thought, why not? Boy babies must like warm legs just as much as girl babies...

ja9 · 05/12/2006 12:47

i really don't think i could bring myself to put a boy in tights... but i don't really no why.

hmmm.

bctmum · 05/12/2006 12:48

my lo wears tights - blue or red from John Lewis. Keeps him nice & warm plus socks can't drop off. Have to take them off though so he can walk without slipping at home

daisy1999 · 05/12/2006 12:49

noooooo!
boys really shouldn't wear tights

trice · 05/12/2006 12:53

My ds wore navy tights when he was a baby. No one could see so why not?

BahHunkBug · 05/12/2006 12:53

DS1 had some he wore under trousers when he was about 8mo - navy ones. He kept pulling his socks off, so I thought I'd foil him

Why shouldn't a boy wear tights?

(Hello, Cori - has been ages! How are you doing? How are your gorgeous boys?)

cori · 05/12/2006 12:53

Why shouldnt little boys be as toastie warm in winter as girls? Its silly.
The only tights i have seen in shops this year are pink and purple etc. Will look in John Lewis next time I am there..

OP posts:
daisy1999 · 05/12/2006 12:55

the reason they are pink and purple is because THEY ARE FOR GIRLS.

hana · 05/12/2006 12:58

not just for girsl in the colc though!!!

dara · 05/12/2006 12:58

What a silly thing to say. What do you think will happen? Put a pair of navy tights on a baby and he will grow up to be gay (shock horror!)?
For centuries all men wore tights or stockings. They managed to remain heterosexual.

JARMgotstuckupthechimney · 05/12/2006 12:59

although i am a mum of girls, i wouldnt hesitate to put a baby boy in tights in cold weather.... under jeans with socks on top - it really doesnt matter what colour they are!

daisy1999 · 05/12/2006 13:02

ok buy the pink tights then. boys in pink is no different to boys in tights.!

dara · 05/12/2006 13:03

Seriously, what do you think will happen that is so dreadful?

foxtrottothefestivegrotto · 05/12/2006 13:04

what a good idea, i would've if i had thought of it. It's hard to find long socks as well for boys or girls.

ParanoidAndroid · 05/12/2006 13:04

My 10 year old son still wears tights under his jodhpurs when he rides in the winter. Although I suspect that he might not for too much longer now his younger sister has taken to teasing him about it!!!

colditz · 05/12/2006 13:05

I do, I've got a white pir that I have put both my boys in. It's too cold not to. all those who say boys shouldn't wear tight probably have a car!

daisy1999 · 05/12/2006 13:05

I wouldn't do but if you haven't got a problem with it then the fact that they are pink shouldn't be a problem either !

foxtrottothefestivegrotto · 05/12/2006 13:06

DH wears them for his marathon training when its really cold (nothing gay about him BTW)

all4girlz · 05/12/2006 13:06

no problem with tights on little boys but if you do not like the idea and want him to be toasty warm try some cotton leggings under his trousers not so "girly " but you can tuckl them into long socks and keep him warm.

munz · 05/12/2006 13:06

DH doesn't want J in tights, althou i've just found outt hat tescos do 4 cream ones for £7 - so guess what i'm going to do when I next go shoping! lol. no one will know under his dungarees anyhow

BahHunkBug · 05/12/2006 13:09

Pink doesn't go with the rest of their clothes.

Plus it makes me puke - I don't wear it either!

cori · 05/12/2006 13:21

But where can you buy cotton leggings for babies/toddlers? Had this problem last year trying to buy thermal underwear for DS 1. In the end had to buy them from a camping shop but there were really expensive.

OP posts:
munz · 05/12/2006 13:21

just go with cream ones cori, will be fine

foxtrottothefestivegrotto · 05/12/2006 13:24

M&S do thermal leggings from size 1.5-2yrs
