Please help me track down the perfect foundation I borrowed from a stranger

Hello ladies. Please can you help me track down the perfect foundation I borrowed from a stranger ( who I will always think of as an angel)

It was a true s&b emergency. I was at a spa en route to a funeral and when I opened my make up bag everything was there except my foundation. The lovely lady getting ready next to me let me have a squirt of hers, and it gave the best finish I have ever had, but I didn't note the brand. Can anyone help me please?

It was pump action liquid foundation in a cylindrical bottle and it was one where the internal base rose up the bottle as the product was used. The bottle was white semi transparent and the pump was white. The branding was very subtle, either in white or silver.

The coverage was awesome, I have quite high colouring, and it was luminous but also a bit matte and stayed perfect all day, despite a number of tears.

Has anyone any idea what brand it could be?

Thanks Katy

This thread is making me want to drive over to Sephora!

Hello everyone, sorry for the delay in getting back.

The shu uemura cosmetic skin fit water foundation has the closest looking branding and size, but it doesn't look like the base rises up as it is used, and one the one I borrowed it definitely had done. Anyone know if that is the case?

Sheseido has too much black on the bottle

It wasn't By terry as I would have recognised the branding

La neige looks like it, but I think the writing was white....

Natio is too short, it was a taller bottle

Barry M is the right type of bottle, but it didn't have all that pink branding...

Yellow tulips, thanks for the suggestions. I have similar skin so those could be ones to try next. I've recently been using NARS tinted moisturiser and Chanel Vitaluminaire. I've liked both, but this was better.

The branding was very subtle, either white of silver, with possibly some large letters in dots. Its wasn't one I recognised but as well as the fact that I was in a full blown panicky flap, and I didn't expect it to be MY PERFECT FOUNDATION EVER, it seemed rude to scrutinise such a personal item that I had been so kindly lent.

I have been harbouring secret hope that angle lady is a mumsnetter too....

It might be Liz Earle! Does the base rise up when it is used?

This looks exactly the right bottle shape and pump shape, and the branding is at the bottom and very subtle.....

She took the lid off for me so it could have been any colour.....

I'm 100% certain about the base rising up thing by the way, as the bottle was getting towards the end, which obviously made her even more of a complete angel.

Sounds like La Parie, beautiful foundation but £££

Go onto the boots web page, select premium beauty products and select liquid foundations. You will see 100's flash before your eyes and hopefully you will recognise one.

You can thank me later Wink

Barbie1 · 10/10/2015 17:48

la prairie I meant!

KatyS36 · 10/10/2015 17:51

Hmmm, re La Parie the instructions say to shake well before using. As this was a foundation where the base rose as it was used up, it wouldn't be possible to shake effectively.

Awaiting if anyone know if Liz earle base raises up, as this is the closest I've seen so far....

Loads of lovely looking foundations to consider for my next purchase...

any of these?

moosemama · 10/10/2015 18:29

Natio Invisible Blend? comes in an airless pump, silver lettering and is not common in the uk.

Review of it if that helps at all?

moosemama · 10/10/2015 18:36

There are quite a few niche products like this around these days though and you can also buy your own air pumps for decanting your foundation into.

FlyingGoose · 10/10/2015 18:41

No 7 instant radiance?

Blueberrymuffint0p · 10/10/2015 18:45

I'm no help what so ever but I also really want some!

KatyS36 · 10/10/2015 18:53

It was a taller bottle than nation, and clearskin and No 7 have too much branding.....

still thinking liz earle depending on the pump....

I don't think it had been dispensed into a bottle as there was some branding...

I'm following as I want to know which one it is too !

Indecisivejo · 10/10/2015 20:10

I don't think the base of Liz Earle rises up, not completely sure do could be wrong but have a feeling it doesn't.

Kr1stina · 10/10/2015 21:15

I have no idea but I am Grin because this is such a MN question .

It's like the people who post asking where their car keys are .

I am obsessed with finding out this foundation. OP, any letters you recall from the bottle? Could it be becca?

Georgethesecond · 10/10/2015 21:48

No. I use Liz Earle. The bottle either is or feels like glass. The base doesn't rise up.

WaggleBee · 11/10/2015 02:12

Blatant place marking.

Kazzawazzawo0 · 11/10/2015 02:20

I want to know too!

pdxs · 11/10/2015 07:59

Try a few websites for packaging... space nk, sephora, nord storm. .. I know these are not UK sites... but what if she bought her makeup when travelling (which is common enough =cheaper and may be one reason your brand not recognised here)

It did not ring any bells with me and I think I've tried far too many foundations in my life..

KatyS36 · 11/10/2015 12:00

Thanks everyone
I think there was a chunky graphic, possibly an x, made up of either white or silver dots, but it was very very subtle.
That's a shame about liz earle as the bottle size and shape was exact.
I'm pretty certain it isn't space nk as I'm familiar with their foundations.
As a minimum I've learnt that I can do better than my current foundation, and mumsnet is as helpful as ever.

Probably not this but worth suggesting:
www.harveynichols.com/beauty-all-make-up-face-foundation/293434-anti-aging-foundation-spf15-shade-400-30ml/#/colour/N/A

Lettering is silver but could look white, don't know if the pump rises as you use it up...

KatyS36 · 11/10/2015 15:11

Thank you shmoo, but I don't think the pump rises.
Have just been round boots in case it was mass market but no luck. Will have opportunity to walk round harvey nicks and john lewis soonish so will check out there.
