Has anyone seen any really warm, waterproof or very water resistant, bum-covering coats for a 7yo and/or a 3yo? Bright colours preferred.

I need something proper this year, so looking at camping shops rather than Zara IYSWIM...

Any ideas?

I am looking at these for my 2yi but she is tiny so having to judge sizes carefully and am 3 weeks post c section so can't go physically tot the shops which is a pain.

Gap don't see to have anything useful this year for girls. Polarn also have brilliant raincoats - by they are not particularly warm

KittiesInsane · 04/09/2015 16:52

Any of these any good, Tethers?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 04/09/2015 16:54

Have a look at www.vikingkids.co.uk

I'm looking at something from Muddy Puddles for my dds this year. I've had waterproof mittens from them before and they were great.

Inexpensive, waterproof, fleece lined, washable, reproofable. covers bum but not so long as to impede tree climbing.

Thanks Free- it's hard to gauge how warm stuff is online, isn't it?

Unfortunately, none of those are long enough- they have to be at least hip length, preferably knee length. Got good vertbaudet ones last year, but they're not doing them this year. Have decided instead to get proper, warm weatherproof coats and I can't bloody find any!

Congratulations on your new arrival, by the way Smile

Why are there so few knee length (or just below) coats for girls? Short coats mean wet legs which is horrible at the start of a school day.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 04/09/2015 17:06

What about Hatley? They are fleece lined and very thick. My girls wear them throughout the winter. You can always layer up underneath, they're quite roomy. Some are a bit twee but some are quite pretty.

DeathMetalMum · 04/09/2015 17:08

We have this for 4 yo dd bought last year and is lovely. The colour is quite a dark fuschia but still broght and the coat comes to just above knee length.www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00E7QBOFS/ref=mp_s_a_1_48?qid=1441382689&sr=1-48&pi=AC_SX110_SY165&keywords=Regatta&dpPl=1&dpID=418PNtxUSmL&ref=plSrch

tethersend · 04/09/2015 17:08

Thanks all, but they are all so short! Agree totally Vix, it's really frustrating.

Really appreciate the links, though. It's good to get to know a few good brands, even if they make arse-skimming coats Grin

Peter Storm here in red, age 3-4?

tethersend · 04/09/2015 17:16

I should add, I want really, really warm coats so that they don't have to layer up underneath. DD1 wants a furry hood, but beggars can't be choosers.

I thought I'd found great ones at Land's End here but ordered them and they're SHITE. Thin, not even vaguely water resistant and worse quality than M&S. Really disappointing.

How about this - it's in the sale so only available for your 3yo - but a total bargain!

I am a TK Maxx fiend and like the look of this. Ticks the boxes for length and furry hood...

Silverstreaks · 04/09/2015 18:21

If you have a Trespass shop near you it's worth a look, my 8 year old was trying on long 3 in 1 coats yesterday. They were good quality, warm, practical and colourful - which is why they were rejected by my picky miss.
I've looked on line but couldn't see them. They were reduced from about £50 to about £18.

I have brought my two these www.gooutdoors.co.uk/regatta-trapeze-kids-wp-insulated-jacket-p353985 coats from go outdoors. They are really warm, the hood actually fits snuggly round their heads and they are bum covering.

OneofTHOSEWomen · 04/09/2015 19:47

We have the same style H&M ones as lady they are slightly longer in the back so cover bums. about £30 I think.

clatteringhooves · 04/09/2015 20:33
