Gone right off the dress. Looking for another one today.

Would like a white tea dress. If I see one online is there any chance it could be delivered by 10 sept?

I have a fall back dress . My engagement dress, white stretch cotton with pink flowers.

Not really panicking...well just a little.

That is stunning too. I'm sure you'll love whatever dress you pick. Good luck and keep us updated

Dowser · 31/08/2015 09:37

Will do. Won't take too long for a result. We get on that plane in two weeks.;-)

Oh Dowser that last dress is just perfect! Miles nicer than anything else that's been posted on the thread.

Where did you buy it?

nannyplumislostinspace · 31/08/2015 10:22

If it helps, I ordered the Chi Chi dress and it was really horrible and cheap in real life. Hope one of the ones that you have picked works out!

AlisonWunderland · 31/08/2015 12:59

I tried on the BHS Rosie dress (but navy full length) and it's gorgeous.
Looks really expensive and the empire line very flattering. Nice and swishy!

Dowser · 31/08/2015 23:20

I haven't bought it satan. It my just in case dress. In case the other two aren't suitable.

Well an update.

I've bought a dress. Its very simple. Plain white lace with bodice and a bit of a flare. Short. I'm going to put a bit of bling onto it to make it abit more interesting.

It's probably goin to be thursday at the earliest before the other two show up.

We leave two weeks tomorrow and the clock is ticking!

I like your dress and the Eliza J one. I don't hold much stock in size guides I think most places just print standard ones and do their own thing.

Dowser · 01/09/2015 10:10

I'm an idiot!

It's official a
I'm an out and idiot!

Having told you all I'd ordered the bhs ivory Rosie one and the house of Fraser Eliza j one. Why have I told my daughter, my friend and the poor unsuspecting woman in John Lewis that I'd ordered the house of Fraser white Jolie moi one.

Having bought a white lace dress yesterday. A parcel turned up just now and I was so excited. It's like Christmas I told poor long suffering OH.

Opened the parcel and shock horror ( in a nice way) a totally different dress tumbles out. It's of course the Eliza j one and ladies

it's just gorgeous! And so me!

I feel like a real bride I it and it's the sort of style of dress I would wear during the day if I was going somewhere nice ( obviously not in bridal material lol)

It's a very delicate jacquard fabric and it's light as a feather. It has a delicate gold thread through it which will sparkle in the sunlight.
it has a little bit of bling around the neck

I feel so much more me than the original one.

One slight problem. It's a size 20. But must be a small one as the waist fits perfectly. But the bust is huge. I'll take it to the dressmakers today but if they can't alter it I can but will try them first.
It's not that huge too be fair. I can take the shoulders in and a little pinch under the arms will do it.

So, one happy lady here and thank you so much southerly winds. The great thing about it is. This is a £130 dress and its like £39!

Do you want me to keep you updated?

( Floats away on a cloud of blissful dressfullness)

So pleased for you, it sounds perfect. Good luck at the seamstress, hope they can perfect it for you.

BitOfFun · 01/09/2015 11:02

Oh yes, we definitely need to be kept informed Grin

Lweji · 01/09/2015 11:07

or just fill the bust. Wink

Dowser · 01/09/2015 11:16

I've got this stupid happy grin on my face!

I've looked at the website and they still have an 18 in stock but the waist is 32.5 and mine is 33 ins without hot weather bloat and fluid retention.

We are going to be there four days before the wedding so having been fairly restrained since Jan 1 food wise I must not over indulge.

We are booked in for half board and with 16 of us staying in the hotel it's all too easy to over eat and drink.

OH will keep me on the straight and narrow;-)

Oh my gosh!!! I am so so pleased for you!!! That's brought a splash of joy to my two DC argusing constantly day. Yay!!!!

SeaRabbit · 01/09/2015 19:10

Ooh Dowser that is very pretty, and such a bargain. Enjoy wearing it!

Dowser · 01/09/2015 21:01

Thank you. I would never have found it on my own. The cities I went to don't have a house of Fraser. Fenwicks, BHS , John Lewis, debenhams , monsoon but that's it.

Took it to the dressmaker today . The conversation went a bit like this.

'didn't we do a wedding dress for you. Have you come to pick it up...' assistant starts scrabbling around

Er no! This is actually a tale of two dresses....

Anyway after everyone had a good laugh . They can do it in time and it will be ready for Thursday.

It's cost me two days of physical shopping and 1 of going back to dressmaker plus countless hours on the Internet but all worth it.

Phew!

The other one ( bhs) will probably turn up tomorrow. Then I will have four on the go! ( original, one I bought yesterday, one at dressmakers and the bhs one!)

OP posts:
Dowser · 03/09/2015 23:56

Dress came back from dressmakers today and it fits beautifully.

Bhs one arrives tomorrow.

Too late was the cry. I can't take this one back now.

I'll still try it on though. Just to be doubly sure.

Dowser · 04/09/2015 13:29

Surrounded by two wedding dresses, the other one in another room and about to collect the fourth.

What am I watching?

Don't tell the bride! And she's rejecting a white satin meringue!

I feel her pain!

OP posts:
ChristineDePisan · 04/09/2015 15:18

Can you wear one for the wedding and one for the reception? (And one for the evening do, and one for going away in....)

Dowser · 05/09/2015 08:43

Dashed to bhs yesterday. The dress was in a very important cardboard box. Again this dress looked lovely Nd swishy on the hanger but just did nothing for me. Maybe its something about white chiffon and me.
it was an odd length . A bit long. Looked a bit like a nightie.
So the shop parcelled it back up and oh whizzed it round to the post office and sent it on its merry way free of charge.

So, I'm really happy with my choice southerly winds and it goes to show that if you get married in September there are heaps of bargains both long and short out there.

The white lace one I bought. I've bought a bit of bling . Will put some on the yoke and I've got some Petersham for a belt. It came with a horrible faux leather one so I will make a belt and wear it when I'm out with the hens.

( I didn't have a hen do 40 years ago at my first one so this should be quite something!) there's 8 of us going out. Should be great. Two drinks are my limit after that anything could happen!
