I've just bought the Janelle coat from Seasalt on a whim. Please tell me it was the right decision!

I must be mad but I just bought the Janelle coat on a whim. Today felt like Autumn and well, I started thinking about the cold weather creeping in.

I am 5'9 so I think I'm tall enough for it (seems very long) and I walk the school run and bus it to work so i am always exposed to the weather. Plus I really feel the cold. Tell me i won't regret it Blush

Buying anything from Seasalt is ALWAYS the right decision Grin
I have a Seaside mac and quite a few tunics from there and they are all lovely.

CoconutAmericano · 26/08/2015 22:12

Thanks mrsmummypig. I have never bought from them before. Their light rain coats look fab too. No more money now!

I've got one and I'm coming into my 3rd winter with it. I love it! It's great for walking the dog and warm and stylish. I'm 5' 7" and it's a good length.

Murinea · 29/08/2015 06:55

I bought the Janelle last autumn and pretty much lived in it the whole winter. I'm only 5'2 and definitely too short for it Grin but it is very comfortable and warm.

cashewnutty · 29/08/2015 08:21

I have a coat like that, but not the Seasalt one. It is a fantastic winter coat and great for dog walking.

I have a light Seasalt one which has been great in all the rain we have had this summer. Totally waterproof - this has been tested several times!

Shockers · 29/08/2015 08:30

I have 3 Seasalt coats, they're brilliant!

TeresaGiudicesForehead · 29/08/2015 10:55

does anyone have the Sea Folly one? I really fancy this one.

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 03/10/2015 12:01

My Janelle coat bought thanks to this thread arrived this morning and I love it!

mrslebon · 03/10/2015 17:06

I have the Janelle and wouldn't be without it for walks across the common in driving rain with my dog. It's like a frickin burka when it's completely done up and wind and rain can't touch me. Right decision.

Knackeredknitter67 · 03/10/2015 17:33

I have it, fantastic for dog walks. I'm a smidgen under 5ft 6, and its knee length on me. Love mine

Knackeredknitter67 · 03/10/2015 17:33

No slightly longer than knee length actually, just taken it out of storage

CadiM · 03/10/2015 17:40

Any thoughts on the Plant Hunter coat? That's the one I'm almost committed to buying.

Frenchfemme · 03/10/2015 17:45

Looks lovely - what is the sizing like? I am about a size 17 (ie between 16 & 18) so size up or down? Thanks.

Blodss · 03/10/2015 22:09

I also have a coat just like that. Its filled with down but is very light and comes to the knee and is just heavenly on a cold Welsh winters morning, afternoon and evening. Good buy I say.

mrslebon · 03/10/2015 22:28

I'd say size up @Frenchfemme

AmethystMoon · 03/10/2015 22:33

I pressed checkout on a black janelle on Thursday with the 20% off code. Not arrived yet but good to know it seems popular. Live the like a burka description, that's what I'm after!

Rockchick1984 · 04/10/2015 19:57

Amethyst do you still have the 20% code? I'm debating a coat but the discount would be enough to convince me Grin

Murinea · 04/10/2015 20:30

The code only worked this past Wed-Thu - I used it to buy a Plant Hunter Grin but not received it yet.

Barnum · 05/10/2015 20:39

The Janelle is fab - I've had one for 2 years now and wouldn't change it. If you like a longer coat it's perfect, warm and totally waterproof. I'm a teaching assistant and spend a lot of time outside in the wind & rain every day - can't fault it! My colleagues all think it's good too and are campaigning to introduce them as staff uniform - lol! Seriously, it's a good coat - you'll be happySmile

FallingGoldfinch · 07/10/2015 14:34

Mine just arrived and it seems like a different coat to the one you're describing! It feels very flimsy - doesn't seem like it would be toasty at all. It is also MASSIVE. I like the length - I'm not tall but I wanted a long coat, but it is huge everywhere else and amazingly frumpy. I really need something waterproof and windproof, warm and bum-covering. If I got all of that, I'd cope with frumpy, but this one doesn't seem to have anything going for it. I've ordered the wrong one, haven't I?

mrslebon · 07/10/2015 19:02

Mine definitely isn't massive. I'm a size 8 and it's a neat fit. I've pulled in the waist so it's a bit more defined around the edges and I wear it with skinny jeans and brown biker style boots. So, no, not frumpy on me although when it's completely done up (zipped up, toggles pulled tight around the faces, my specs on), I look a right chump!

ThreeFrazzledFandangos · 07/10/2015 19:06

Does anyone know of a winter coat that would work on me at 5' 3"?

I like the Janelle but one of the comments specifically says lovely coat but not if you're 5' 3" and those who love it seem to be around 5' 10".

nothingwittyhere · 07/10/2015 19:30

Look at the other Seasalter coats - they have lots of good ones and they class them by length on their website.
