S&B types - save me from a uniform of skinny jeans, long-sleeved t-shirts with boots and a floaty scarf.

What will stylish types wearing this autumn/winter that I can try to tweek my current wardrobe (as I'm also skint so this has to be shoestring fashion) so I don't look quite so much like a SAH 30-something Mum of 2 who lives outside the M25 who used to make an effort...

Are we all going to be wearing a sea of burgandy again this year?

Colour expert people - I am pale with dark hair/blue eyes and suit brighter colours - tend to wear navy/grey as basics. Can't see me in marsala or maroon, what do you think as alternatives? Thanks!

mrslebon · 19/08/2015 11:12

Just seen this in East and it is perfection. Definitely a 'marsala' colour in real life: www.east.co.uk/leather-fringed-hobo-red/

Colour of the season and fringing in one!

Nice but spendy shirt dress from Jaegar. It's linen so not for the iron-phobic.

DinosaursRoar · 19/08/2015 19:57

Mrslebon - I like that bag, but alas wouldn't work for me, I need something that doubles as a change bag...

right, fashionable types, what about this skirt - rust, A-line and retro-ish, and cheap...

It's ever so short clutches pearls. I'm not sure. I think I'm being put off because the model is wearing one a size too small, though.

DinosaursRoar · 23/08/2015 08:26

Ah, I'm only 5'0, so would sit just a couple of inches above my knee!

I would like a slightly a line denim skirt (with or without buttons) and a denim dress of some sort. I have some lovely conker coloured knee boots barely worn last year as I was in a post baby haze still.
Op, last winter when I was baby wrangling, I lived in jersey pencil skirts and boots. They are easy and go with all jumpers and tops. H and Ms are great and cheap as chips. Tk maxx great for jumpers (but check they are not handwash!)

mewkins · 23/08/2015 12:48

Ps that rust skirt is nice but I would need it longer as am 5ft7.

I got a gorgeous skirt below:-

www.hm.com/gb/product/20024?article=20024-A

and dress:-

www.asos.com/asos/asos-pencil-dress-with-wrap-skirt-and-obi-belt/prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=4948940&clr=Dovegrey&SearchQuery=obi+pencil+dress&pgesize=6&pge=0&totalstyles=6&gridsize=3&gridrow=2&gridcolumn=3

i also got from Ebay a black H&M lace cream front cardigan.

H&M I tried and didn't like (not on their website) a black sort of new romantic blouse with ties - it's going back totally unflattering.

@mewkins - Monsoon have a lovely slightly A line denim skirt in their new range, and a nice soft denim dress too.

Skirt (looks awful online, much nicer IRL) uk.monsoon.co.uk/view/product/uk_catalog/mon_1,mon_1.11/8413623908

mewkins · 23/08/2015 23:10

Thank you, I will take a look!

DinosaursRoar · 25/08/2015 17:44

ah, my new clothes budget it about to take a hit as the crap weather means I don't think I can wear the summery dress I was planning on wearing to my DN's christening on Sunday. Not a 'jackets' do either so I guess it's got to be a long sleeved dress that's smart/casual and suitable for church and not too pricey. anyone seen anything that will get another wear or two this season? (might just start a new thread)

MrsLeBon - I like that monsoon dress!

Just bought this denim dress. Very glad I hadn't seen it online first, it's much nicer than that pic shows.

DinosaursRoar · 27/08/2015 07:27

Oh actually I like that dress, what's the sizing like? Are they generous or skimpy? £30 is rather good.

KanyesVest · 27/08/2015 21:48

They are on the smaller side, I'm a 10 on top, 10/ 12 on bottom and the 12 is perfect. I'm 5ft2 and it sits right on my knee.

DinosaursRoar · 01/09/2015 20:57

Just seen this article covering the Guardians take on key trends for Autumn - I'm not sure I can carry off "school bully hair".

OP posts:

and I've just ordered this A line tan skirt
