Getting married in jeans.

Getting married in Oz next year in their Spring which will be November or Oct.

I want to wear jeans. I'm 42...the wedding will be in Mils lovely garden...very casual affair, BBQ and about 50 guests.

I just don't want to wear a dress...I never wear dresses and as an actress I've been in plenty of big, dramatic gowns over the years...I've looked and looked and just can't see one I like...I hate 50s style tea dresses and won't feel at all comfy in anything that is age appropriate or suited to a garden wedding.

Oz is very casual anyway...I thought (I've got a good figure) that I could get some really gorgeous jeans and shoes and a lovely lacy white top and have my hair and makeup done...flower or nice hair thing in...and that's that.

Is it ok and can anyone advise or offer ideas. I look best in high necklines...I've a small bust...size 10...I like white lacy tops...something that shows off waist...arms are fine.

Fox thank you! I like the Stella McCartney one...gorgeous!

Not I don't think I'd look like that model though...I'm short at 5.5 and she's about 5.11!

Soup I just don't like trousers and never wear them.

Dafty Etsy do have some nice things don't they? Must check,.

If you want to wear jeasn then do. It's your wedding. My husband wore jeans when we got married, we just had a small wedding party on a beach in Turkey.

Jeans are trousers... Wink

The lack of photos on the net would suggest that very few women choose to get married in jeans.

What type of shoes would you wear with jeans for a garden wedding? The shoes will effect the type of jeans.

SusiePaloozie · 24/06/2015 11:48

Thanks NOt....I can't seem to find what I want...I want lacy...but fitted...yet not too revealing....Confused

Burnished it's true! I googled and found one pic...odd isn't it?

Well I'm not sure about shoes...

What do you think of this look, without the rips and without the bag? You'd need different shoes as heels would sink into the grass.

structured lace crop top

high-neck, long-sleeved lace crop top

unstructured round-neck designer lace top

2 and 3 look like good bets to me :)

SusiePaloozie · 24/06/2015 11:53

Burnished It is nice...but that top is looser than I'd I'd like...Garlik I love the 2nd one but at 42 and two DC I don't think my tummy is up to getting flashed...it IS flat but it's not blemishless.

Garlick · 24/06/2015 11:56

Ah, I misunderstood! You need fitted round the waist, then?

burnishedsilver · 24/06/2015 11:56

You'll have to be careful. If it all goes wrong it could end up like this!

Oooh, that's VERY wedding-y, Poppy! :)

Squirrelsmum · 24/06/2015 12:19

Spring in Qld is hot, I wouldn't wear jeans. What about a pair of palazzo pants instead? Teamed with a white lacey top and a pair of sandals and a hat!

SusiePaloozie · 24/06/2015 12:41

Squirrel It's not Qld...it's Adelaide...I've lived out there and often wear jeans. I look awful in baggy pants...I'm too short at 5.5.

Do it! I did. In Scotland in my garden with a BBQ for 30. Fabulous day.

As you say Australia is very, very casual. Be happy and comfortable.

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 24/06/2015 13:07

I'd get married in jeans no problem, but i don't like the idea of relaxed jeans and then more special hair, make up, shoes etc.

Are you hippyish? (You say your friends are)
I think some high waisted skinny jeans and an off the shoulder white crop top would look nice, maybe with a chain belt?
But I would also do relaxed hair (think Kate moss waves) and maybe sunnies too.

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 24/06/2015 13:10

And some flat white Chanel espadrilles would look beautiful too

SusiePaloozie · 24/06/2015 13:11

Ginger yes I am a bit of a hippy I suppose.

Hair did you get many confused looks or did people accept it? On AIBU I've been told that I will look "try hard" and like I'm attempting to be too cool for school.

It's up to you entirely, wear what you will be happy in - let guests know it's not a formal do. Have a great day
